you can even plug controllers into the arcade cab (ever since tekken 5, I believe)

A lot of players use pad in Tekken. You don't really have to play stick in it. You can move around more easily on pad, be it sidestepping or backdash canceling.

I personally got sick and tired of cutting my thumb so I decided to learn stick. Took about two months or so, but finally I transitioned and never looked back.

Tons of pad players in Tekken. Could be argued it's better than stick, but in the end it's all preference just like in other games.
