But i dont wanna? It seriously is like someone smashed my fingers with a mallet and stuck them into oven mitts.

God damn! That sounds rough man. Get back in the training room!

hm i'm not sure, you might be asking the wrong guy. at recent majors the only games i've seen on purpose have been sf4, injustice, and bathroom breaks

SEE GUYS! WHAT I SAID WAS TRUE! I WISH THE TO'S GAVE MARVEL THE ATTENTION IT DESERVES!

You guys didn't know? GAF does background checks on new members. Kappa.

I don't even know how these background checks are done. Someone mind explaining?

I don't ever remember being a junior. I didn't start posting until like 2 years after I made this account and I remember not seeing junior, because I was so confused as to what made people juniors.

Just happened after new years for me, guess it just happens when it happens or after 300 posts.

I think I misread. You're saying of the games that still get the majority of the airtime at majors, those are the ones you look at.

I think I read it as "these are the only games that are getting play at majors". Sorry for the confusion.

I'm really surprised to see that the virgin online money match thing is capcom supported.

Same here. There's got to be some legal and tax implications.

There's also the fact that you're indirectly promoting competing for money to a demographic that isn't capable of doing so (and some would argue shouldn't be exposed to it as well).

It seems like a sticky situation, to say the least.

I remember people in NBA GAF (back when I posted there) saying they used Virgin Gaming for NBA 2K14.

I think Smokey said he won like $150 in the first week. or maybe it was DarK FaZe. Wonder if it'll work for SF

It's legal in 48 stares. IIRC, I wrote a story about money matching a year ago. It's a game of skill so its perfectly legal in the majority of states. The illegal issues come in when people "invest" in the match if I remember the details correctly. Virgin has been doing it for other games, NBA 2K amd COD, for awhile.

If you're allowed to stream it, it could make for an entertaining stream to see someone like PR Rog money matching people online with it.

This. I don't want to explain this stuff to my tax lady. This doesn't seem like a positive thing for fighting games. I thought fighting game players were poor enough.

Panda already offered to stream them.

Edit: From past experiences with online ladders it's a great idea to stream/record things cause cheaters. I don't see this becoming a great competitive tool. Edit again: The only reason I even feel the need to say that is because Capcom is apparently supporting it, which really confuses me.

I know Virgin has been doing this for years. Part of me is shocked that Capcom is supporting this, but with how popular online play is for this game and USF4 coming out, why not.

They've been doing this for years with sports games, so I don't see what's so different about that demographic compared to ours, especially with the amount of people who already do travel and have money matches at tournaments in person.

This isn't for me, but I don't have a problem with allowing it for the people who do want to participate in it, especially if the system is better than what GameBattles had to offer.

SF4 netcode is not really good enough for legitimate competition online though. : How many people want to MM in an environment where the game turns into a mess if someone's girlfriend decides to watch Desperate Housewives on Netflix?

I guess the 'why not' is all baseless, but it just seems really out of character for Capcom.

People who understand how to exploit the ladder system. Go back and look at any online gaming ladder or system like this. At best this is going to turn into some drama fuel.

Hmm, I guess now would be a good time to make a sub account with 600pp and 2500bp(because 0 BP and PP would be too obvious) and body some 2000pp fools in $10 money matches yo. Too bad their is no PC support, that's like free money right there.

Seriously though, I don't see myself participating in this much if ever. But if it makes for more entertaining stuff to watch then I'm all for it.

Virgin Gaming is based in the UK, I think? This could be the work of that branch of Capcom rather than USA or JP.

It is very unusual though. About as odd as the OnLive SF4 thing.

I've hit M2 in Tex TGM3 Master a few times but I don't deserve it because it was mostly attained through abuse of the COOL system rather than raw skill. S5 in Shirase as well because I don't have the reflexes to beat torikan yet. I find getting back into Shirase hard cause any time spent away from practicing that mode wrecks your performance so bad.
Nice! One trick I do to quickly reacclimate myself to high rates of play and to learn to maintain consistency is to use music specifically chosen for a rhythm that matches the lock timings, but at the same time you can't get TOO attached to it or you'll have trouble manually locking. For example, The Darkness Nova from Legend of Mana matches Shirase 0-299 (exactly for 200-299, a frame off before) and Crazy Motorcycle from FF7 matches Shirase 300-499 (on half-beats). You can also add the TGM next piece chimes to Texmaster to aid in giving that natural rhythm.

From what I understand Texmaster doesn't properly implement the various aspects of TGM3's Master mode. On Cab, the game compensates for good play and COOLs by upping the internal speed grade prematurely. Like in the Jin8 GM video, he hits 20G and the second music at level 300, and the third music at Level 400. Going off wiki, he's at Shirase-like timings at level 500. Anyway, another unfortunate discrepancy is the subtle differences in game speed and timings that make breaking Torikan in Sudden just a touch easier than in actual TA Death. ShmupMAME also has a very very slight speed difference, but it's considered to not matter much in whether you'd actually perform the same on cab.

By the way, I beat up on SRS games a lot but I know they have their place and really don't mind playing them until it hits 20G, then I just want to put the controller down and walk away. The lack of rhythm and non-deterministic rotation makes playing excruciating.

Which manga is that from Annel?

Another one jumped ship.

East vs West just got more interesting, hopefully the rest of the EC steps it up.

Also nice hearing Clockwork still has it (will always love that Strider/Doom team from MvC2)

The East is preparing for the eventually East vs West Exhibition match that I hope happens one day in the Curleh Mustache. If you wanna find the breeding ground for monsters in the east, look at the House of Crack stream, the future of Marvel is right there.

i already play unib since the update since i live/work in japan. game is a lot better now than it was a year or so ago and i can dig it now. i really hope its released on pc tho...
my developer comment is based on decisions french bread makes with the way they release their titles. mbaacc was retail PACAKGED WITH A 130 DOLLAR ANIME BOX SET for example...just fucking stupid ass shit that doesnt make a lick of sense. there is no excuse for a game like mbaacc to have been released when it was and not been on steam where i can buy and support the product. they are just really dumb with what they have. they make great games though. French bread is just a smaller form of arcsys in terms of stupidity with shit like that.

they were so surprised about the overseas presence of melty players but they found out about them 2 years ago now...and what have they done since then? japanese companies dont fucking learn man

this is synonomous with being a "bad developer" and being "stupid"

I think they should get in touch with the publisher that brought Guilty Gear Isuka to steam. I'd think they have a better chance with them than Ecole. Bundling the game with an expensive box set seems pretty high on the dumb tier.

I wonder though if a decision like that might have to do with TYPE-MOON though since they own the Tsukihime ip.

Online money matches?????
Dis-Gon-B-Gud.gif

Man, if people get salty enough to send hate mails now only competing for points....can you image the salt across the interwebs now?!?! Shit's going to be insane

I wonder if Capcom/Virgin gets a cut of the money being put. It's actually pretty ingenious...

Next step is to have spectator/side bets on big online matches. I have been saying this is an easy way to "monetize" fighting games without the player thinking they are being ripped off. It's an opportunity for players to make money as well as Capcom.

I'm not into the idea of participating in money matches myself, but I would love to side bet here and there if that were possible. Just have a similar format to saltybet, except using real money. PXG or whoever can come up with a fight card type line up with the amount the players are paying for, and then we the audience can side bet on who we think will win.

Only problem with that is their is no "house"(assuming Virgin doesn't want to take up that responsibility). And would it even be legal? Probably not but that's what I'd like to see someday.

Well if you do delay canceling BPM synchronization goes out the window, but that's 3hardcore5me.

How so is the speed upgrade in Texmaster broken? Cause that would explain why my
scores in master trend higher if I miss COOL in 0-100.

isn't online gambling illegal in the u.s? how are they gonna get around this?

Not too familiar with the US legal system but I'm assuming it varies by state. Online gambling tends to be based on luck whereas video games tend to be based on skill. That's just my guess.
