Fighting Games Weekly | Jan 12-18 | DaiGOAT

Since everyone is giving their opinion I guess I'll add mine to the pile.

I think there's a difference between the crowd dancing you see at some tournaments especially among the pro tier players. It's usually after the entire game is done/over and it's to the crowd. You can see this in some of the gifs that have been posted in this thread and they're usually pretty short.

I remember watching the video when it was posted and IIRC the other guy was sitting in the chair looking uncomfortable because I guess he was waiting for Shinblade to sit down so they could continue?

You shouldn't be delaying games for such a long period of time over something like that. When the set is completely done sure dance all you want, but when someone is waiting to play the game that they spent a lot of time practicing for, you're disrespecting them by making them wait while you dance around.

I think we can all agree that it's okay to celebrate your victories as long as you you don't inconvenience others to sate yourself.

US Gamer said some things about fighting games. Are we really that unhappy? I can't say that's how I've perceived things in the community.
Sounds like nonsense to me.

I'm ditching PS4/XB1 and going PC if I can, anyway.

I think the other team is switching out players in the meantime.

yo this thread is like the FGW version of MK9.

If you look at the video from another angle, the dude actually doesnt seem uncomfortable at all. He's laughing the entire time and has one of his friends rubbing his shoulders to pump him up for the match against Shin right before Shin gets grabbed.

Incorrect article. I imagine pretty much everyone is happy with it. Fighting gamers always go for whatever console offers the superior FG experience and right now it's been clearly defined as the PS4. Even Japanese players in a country where the 360 is vastly unpopular purchased the xbox because it offered a better SF4 experience. That's just how it rolls.

For us PC guys we are of course immensely satisfied with Capcom's decision.

If anything, people are relieved we don't have to deal with console non-equality nonsense or investing in dual mods.

You know, I was catching up and thought to myself that's the last time I ever post something like that in here. So many bodies. Thread lookin like:

I was just getting to you actually. =P

Jesus, Shouta punishing the assists then XFC command grabbing the anchor through the up back.

Pray that it doesn't become another victim of the "anime" FG cycle.

I like the game a ton and want to see it prosper honestly. It'd really blow if it gets bowled over because of the ADHD in the scene with regards to new releases.

Not that I'd know, but to me people don't really seem that interested in the new P4U2 patch or BBCP2 over here.

Aside from the die-hards of the game but that's probably because we won't get them for awhile and what's happening in Japan is kinda divorced from us.

I'm still salty about some Ken and Koromaru changes. >=(

I'm not! Dohohohohoho

I'm actually way more salty that Margaret is still an annoying as fuck character
I really hate characters that charge forward without giving fucks.

I personally dont think elph is overrated. She is top 5 to me...zato faust ram millia elph...then ino chipp then errbody else imo

godlike normals...a developing unblockable game... grenade ob...command grabs...shes got some questionable hitboxes and good supers to boot

She is however still somewhat honest. She got the tools tho

not to mention she's piss easy to play, which imo is one of the strongest things about her.

Pretty much how I feel about her despite not being clear on where most other characters sit. She's got a strong tool kit but she isn't fourth dimension abstract calculus or some shit like Zato or Ram. She also gets bodied on knockdown and with Millia zipping around, that automatically means she's fourth at best.

Then again, ease of use factor might prop her up somewhat.

Guys Princess Kitana is back.
Sweet, another of my old characters to fall back on if Quan doesn't have his essential unblockable Rune Trap loops back. Now, to be safe, I just need Skarlet to return. (as if, lol)

That's more important than anime drama.

Anime drama is the future. Get used to it. :D

I was once knocked flying off my seat, stick taking a tumble and everything, after eliminating another top-player from a +R regional. These games are so taxing on the players this shit even happens up here in Canada. Only difference is that nothing comes of it because we all laugh and apologize profusely after, plus no one watches us play in the first place. >.>

Did anyone catch the comments SolidPlay posted in the YouTube video though?

I'm glad someone from her scene is at least standing by her, as in-the-wrong as she was. Moment of insanity/skewed perspective or whatever, it's still the sort of thing that a person can learn from. Bound to be damn challenging for her to live down the online fall-out, but everything about these games is challenging. Hopefully she gets some insight into her triggers over this and finds a way to adjust.

Definitely not the sort of thing that needs to get in the way of tournament hype displays though, imo. This is less of a systematic issue than an unique case from what I've seen.

In that case I guess it's not that bad then if both people are deriving enjoyment from it.

Y'all got me rolling over here, deadass love you all.

I barely play mahvel anymore... Online is ded so ima buy Xrd asap and main a waifu, fuck it ima play with a controller as well.

Upkicks are the best/worst 50/50 ever! Can't count how many times I've thrown them out over and over after getting punished figuring "...by now they probably figure I'm going to change this up"

Worst part is.. Deejay punish heavy upkicks on block midscreen lmao......

i think this is going to end up being a huge thing for her being top since it means less fuckups into scramble stuff happens due to her more consistently being able to do her stuff by ease of use.

from the footage i've watched of high level play, that kind of thing still happens (and attempting to normalize/take advantage of that situation is key in being a good player) and minimizing that is pretty big

it's also kind of telling that a new character is able to hang with people who have been playing character specialists of top tiers who have been playing for a decade

edit:
it's pretty much like the entire reason why wolverine wins in marvel still. he's got a strong enough toolset to apply extremely simply, even if it's not the strongest. but the way it's applied is so simple and so effective that he can easily dominate over other 'better' characters by virtue of being able to focus on other stuff by the automating his simplicity

#TeamValentines welcomes all newcomers.

With that said, I need to get started on making my Ramlethal less of a liability. Elphelt you can get with a few days of work since she functions similarly to a Marvel character.

Edit: Yeah, it's the Zero vs. Viper vs. Vergil thing all over again. Sure I can theory end a match off anything ever with Zero and Viper can make it piss easy to run trains through people in Marvel with unblockables, but Vergil is a few character slots over, applies easy mode pressure and cuts your soul out in the process. Why pick up anything harder to be consistent with when that option is there?

On a related note, I feel like her biggest nerfs will probably be in shotgun blast damage scaling, how grenade works, and start up on rifle.

Ease of use will always be a factor in top level play. Two characters who on paper might both be the same in terms of power level but the one with ease of use will get more tournament wins due to less chance of error.

ie. Wolverine vs Magneto

In other news I will be starting on GGXrd today. Game is finally available at my local Best Buy.

Well, i did this morning. It's glorious.
But seriously. I'll tell you guys when I confirm it. Don't want to jump the gun.
Now that I've told Q 'cause he's illuminati (because of S.Kill). He can corroborate how mind-blown I should be. =o

ogawa at NEC

Elphelt is the P4A Mitsuru of Xrd.
every time i see folks say stuff like this i can't help but think of this local player who kept on swearing vergil was mid-tier long before and after he became popular. he was a pretty good vergil too, so it's not like he was a incompetent moron
it just makes me wonder why folks have trouble accepting that a character is real good, like it's ruining their reputation for picking a good character or something
