Fighting Games Weekly | January 7-13 | All Eyez on Mr. Wizard

I know, it may be bad for my health, too much salt, BUT IT'S TOO GOOD!

Haha, I would be salty as fuck right now if SFxT made it over P4A or KOF.

But since all of them did, then fuck it, bring it on! :)

I need to buy a copy of MK9 and SFxT for our stream station. Hmmm... May do that today...

Great to hear that the EVO staff hopes to set up more casual stations this year, but I'm still gonna play it safe and set up our salty suite with the CO crew to warm up. Hella excited!

Funny note: My laptop was almost used for the Indie Showcase setup for MLP last year. Mr. Wizard was freaking out that their guy wouldn't be able make it to EVO, so he made a call for a laptop on twitter. Luckily, they were able to set it up. Count me down for bringing a setup for this year again, haha!

About SfXT being at EVO again, I just want to point something out:

Some of them kinda tastes like chicken! And all the salt just makes it more tastier! <3

I hope you realize that if the game gets treated like it was last year, it'll be no different from not being in the lineup.

Oh, please. With the changes and 1v1 setup they're doing this year, I wouldn't be surprised if it got more than P4A or KOF in attendance.

They had 1v1 setup for the past majors and that didn't prevent the pathetic turnout for SFxT. You are talking about 40 vs 200+ vs 57 in NEC. As for the changes look at the Skullgirls patch and tell me if it changed the fate of that game.

SFxT has an Aura of Legitimateness Lvl 3, so it gets away with being terrible.

Last time I complain about it but... if dudes going to EVO are spending a couple hundred dollars to get to it and stay there, it is not exactly a good scenario to ask them to join in a bidding war against people who might just want see their preferred fighting game favorite cartoon characters on a livestream. (I say this as someone with no plans to go EVO.)

The Ono vs Harada stuff leading to SFxTK was great.

We're still talking about it because Capcom is money hatting and supporting the fuck outta the game.

And hence, it is legitimate. The only important thing is who makes the game, rather than how good the game is.

The fact that it is almost certain that MLP is going to win the 8th game vote thanks to its fan base is also daft. And the fact that MK9 is in over Injustice when MK9 is played out (Kabal wins, go home).

Injustice needs time. People need to understand this. The genre is more competitive than it has ever been from a tournament and consumer standpoint. Netherrealm can't afford to show weakness in the online, DLC strategy, fighting, presentation or marketing so they will take time to get this right. MK is in because Injustice is not ready. Injustice is for EVO 2014.

Smashboards is full of tinfoil hat cockamamie bullshit right now but something I thought was funny was how there are 2 threads for donating to smash. One for Melee and one for Brawl, the one for Brawl was locked after 2 posts.

We're still talking about it despite it bombing so hard!

But, everything kinda "bombed hard" this year. Software sales were down everywhere...

Isn't SFxT still one of the best selling, if not best THE selling FG of 2012?

TTT2 didn't exactly fly off the shelves. Neither did DOA5 or SC5. Persona did well in Japan, but the rest of the world?

I'm curious if anyone knows some actual figures beyond what we've known since last year.

P.S. Lol SFxT pulling itself out of the grave like a boss. It just doesn't care.
I guess I might actually have a game to support this EVO after all.

This is hilarious. It reminds me of Romney trying to pass himself off as your average American during the presidential race. SFxT gets an airlift, guy.

Given how I'll be watching it on stream. Yeah it won't be different for me. But personally I'm glad that the 2 v 2 bs is gone. Not to mention the bitterness that the game gets despite getting 3rd or 4th highest entrants even with the lowest per player payout bonus and requiring the most work.

Any other game would be grudgingly accepted but SFxT is simply unacceptable. And people want Capcom to try and support their games, but damn Capcom for actually trying to fix their mess with SFxT.

The games with high entrants should return, right? Yeah, but it's SFxT.
Capcom should support their shit post release, right? Yeah, but it's SFxT.
So people would rather see Capcom continue to the company that never fixes or supports the games?

The work on fixing SFxT and RE6 is one of the few bright spots about Capcom at the moment.

People want Capcom to support the games that they like, and not support the games they don't like. Since many, many people did not like SFxT, many, many people will be annoyed when Capcom continues to try and support the game. Then the many, many people who like another game are bitter because they are entirely ignored for a big piece of shit that just won't go down the toilet.

And it has no logical basis. You already know why Marvel isn't being supported. Heck as simple as I am, I get why VF doesn't get supported. And you know it isn't going to be an endless nightmare because Capcom is eventually going to lose the Tekken license.

It will not, because v2013 will be better #SfxTDefenseForce

I really don't like sfxt as it stands. I'm not alone there. However I really want 2013 to be a great game that everybody loves.

The elephant in the room is still gems. As of now? They are banned at evo again. It is hard to ever take the game seriously whilst that issue remains, no matter what other changes they make,

Which is a real shame.

I don't think the game is lacking in strategic depth (though Mitsuru/Aigis push that some)

and Chie, and Yu, and Both Labs, kanji and akihiko...

Sooo that leaves you with naoto, yukiko, yosuke, and teddie if played right for characters that are not straight forward and near brain dead to play
