Hopefully my donation to the SDA run gets some people to vote for Guilty Gear.
30k people, surely there must be some more fans.
You know what's even more unrealistic? Thinking that this entire poll is a giant way to spite the Smash community.
Seems more likely that a bunch of different communities are clamoring for a spot and this is one of the fairest ways to achieve that.
Good. Then don't donate and let a community that wants to be at EVO get in.
Yes, the MLP: Fighting is Magic and PSASBR competitive communities. Clamoring.
Come on son.
No other game in this poll has even a hundredth of the players that Melee has. Lets be real.
Trust me, I absolutely want Smash to be at EVO. I would fucking love it.
But only if it is a good event and managed with the best intentions and respect to the community. Thats what every game community asks from EVO, so I don't think thats unreasonable.

In Smash's case, the event's going to likely be run by the Smash community in large part due to them requiring specialized equipment. And that's what the winning game's community is going to get. You're not helping to do anything except foster some irrational fears.

But this fundraiser is a direct result of Melee's success in the facebook poll. And frankly, if we're being honest with ourselves, its pretty clear that this entire effort was made with Smash in mind.
WHY would you NOT want your game to be at EVO
Theres a reason I'm posting on Neogaf and not Smashboards.
I'm throwing around the argument in my head and seeing if you guys can convince me.
Considering I'm an admin of Socal Melee, and the biggest organizer in the region, at least some of what I listed as "things that must be done to make Smash @ EVO a successful event" would include me. So I need to know if this is a cause I'm willing to go all out campaigning for, or whether it isn't in the best interest of the community going forward.

You petulant child. "OH THEY MADE A FUNDRAISER JUST BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT MELEE! WAHHHHHHH"
You and your community need to get over yourselves.
I donated to SC5. I am glad it is going to charity. Good idea for the player choice voting.
I hope others can see my point for what it is, and not what they want them to be.
So glad Bum is streaming more often now. When is FChamp coming? Tomorrow?
LOL @ Jill infinite on stream, I would kill myself if I got hit with that.
Justin lets say Smash does get in will you guys go by EVO rules.
...If you actually need "convincing," then it's a fair assumption that you were never going to donate in the first place.
I am NOT going to horsehead troll at EVO2k13 if MLP is on the main stage.
Like, forealla.
I'm willing to put in dollars, time, and work to make something like this a success. My other work in the community ought to be a testament to that.
I don't really need convincing about whether Smash at EVO could potentially be great. It can potentially be fantastic. Thats obvious. I'm really excited about that potential, and am ecstatic at the opportunity. I don't want to seem ingrateful because frankly they did not need to give us their platform to show our game off. There is some risk on their part too, and I appreciate that they are willing to go out on a limb for us.
My misgivings are more...practical. How much space will we be given? Will we get stream time? How hard will they promote for us? Who are they going to bring in from our side? What is the expectation from us as players? etc etc
Basically "will it be a good event and a good display of Smash Melee to the world?"
Thats what I care about.

just go all out. Being on EVO can open sooooo many doors.
More players, more sponsors, more exposure, more friends, more people to network with for TOs, more press coverage and etc.
WHY would you NOT want your game to be at EVO
I did not say they do not want Melee. I did not say this effort was made as a way to block Melee. I said that Smash was a primary consideration when making this fundraiser, and that is clearly evident by looking at the facebook poll.
Me too!
SC5 SC5 SC5!
Probably wondering who their biggest enemy is atm. Is it Smash, Ponies or ASW's release scheduling? lolI wonder what Dustloop looks like right now.
Make a donation and PM or email for info. Get back to us if you've got good news to share and Wizard's blessing. Then it is just a matter of fundraising from there on out.I'm willing to put in dollars, time, and work to make something like this a success. With 8WR on the east coast, wouldn't be surprised if the Fall Classic featured it.I'd play SC5 if it was at EVO.

SNK Vs Capcom 2 or AE ver2013 pls
Ono should make sure Nitsuma and co. get to make the Darkstalkers game. -_-
I'm saying that him asking is likely a rhetorical question. Because he's trolly like that.He is asking what title to work on after those games.
Ono should make sure Lab Zero Games gets to make it. Then he can go play with CvS3 and Nitsuma can make next gen TvC.Ono should make sure Nitsuma and co. get to make the Darkstalkers game. -_-
That word does not exist in Capcom Japan.Go on a vacation.
You don't have to hide the fact that you're a brony. You have friends on NeoGAF. :3
