Wonder why Melee competitors don't like to go to FGC events, while Smash 4 people do.
i assume there's just less overlap in terms of players as melee is a long established thing so less fg dudes would be competing in that vs. smash 4's newness bringing in more dudes
I'd probably post them anyway to make a point ;P but yeah 2I ost blows 3s out of the water, with the exception of Ibuki's track which I like better, and Akuma's track which is bad in 2I. That said there's way too many in capcom fighters alone. Making top 20, let alone ranked would be hard

top 5 marvel at evo 2014 was pretty good, but mostly because fchamp and justin were super on point and you could clearly see how the high level game actually functioned instead of a vomit stew of slop, shitty mashing and lame xf comebacks
honestly at this point i've stopped watching marvel too despite loving it to death simply because of how absolutely fucking boring it is to see dudes just go through the motions at mid/high level play when top level play has some seriously interesting aspects to it
but you basically never get to see it until the parade of real majors because the only dudes who really play at that level are miniscule

I would say greater overlap with the rest of the FGC for Smash 4 due to being new, which is definitely part of it, but...tournaments like CEO that actually reach out to the community draw big numbers too.
Edit: real question is why are GGXrd and Marvel so close

Some combination of this is where I'm at with Marvel. Not really a Wong fanboy so I can't even really take comfort in knowing it let Wong run through to the top easier.

People say ChrisG killed marvel at next level and all that but he honestly kept it alive. As soon as he left, no one had a reason to go anymore.
There was nothing "easy" about Justin's run to the top. Justin saved up a strategy for 10 months just so he can beat ChrisG at EVO in a clutch situation. That is dedication.

I mean, it's not easy, but it's easier when your hitting your stride as the best player stopped caring about the game months upon months ago.
Seeing Chris G go in and out of being motivated and then petering off permanently was depressing to watch in general TBH.
A player who is not motivated to win probably shouldn't be winning over someone who is actually motivated to win.
Besides Justin already won over "motivated" ChrisG at EVO 2013 in that epic game.
Marvel doesn't begin and end with ChrisG. There will be someone else who dominates and is in the running for EVO. Maybe Kosmos is the new ChrisG, he is on a tear lately.

Watching Chris G pretty much dominate a game for nearly 2 years straight was really exciting to watch for me because the last time something like that happened was mvc2 with Justin. Justin did dominate for much longer but that was a different time, a time where games evolved much slower and even big Justin fans(like james chen) compared Chris G's dominance to Justin's mvc2 run. Seeing him lose interest and not caring anymore was sad to see.

I don't know the exact score but ChrisG definitely has way more matches over Justin even including pre-MorriDoom days. ChrisG has more matches over FChamp as well but not as many. The gap has shrunk over time but ChrisG still has more. That 2013 era of ChrisG was just ridiculous.
Since EVO 2014 though Justin has had ChrisG's number as well as the number of pretty much every other top player Nemo included.
Between FChamp and Justin it's Justin who is on top but not by much.
Wouldn't be surprised that PRRog has best record against ChrisG among the top 5 players. After that would probably be Yipes of all people, he recently 3-0'd ChrisG at Winter Brawl.

Yo, mad respect for putting Fight With the Wind. I feel like Kinderdijk is overshadowed by London for CvS2 but it's definitely my favorite stage.
Narrowing it down to 5 is hard enough so mine will be in no particular order.
1. Capcom vs SNK2 - Fight with the Wind
2. Darkstalkers 3 - Tower of Arrogance
3. MvSF - Captain America Theme
4. Soul Calibur 2 - Hubris
5. The Last Blade 2 OST It's cheating but I really feel like if you don't listen to The Last Blade 2 as entirety it doesn't do the game's soundtrack justice.
Can't remember if it was a-cho footage or not but tizoc probably linked it. Watching footage of that game is too good.
