Karst controversial post:
Bayonetta becoming a Wii U exclusive is the best thing to happen for Platinum Games since it was founded.

Thanks for the thread, Enzo!

Best thing ever to happen for Platinum Games was getting the **** away from the sinking ship that is Sega.

RE: Stabby McSter

I think it's appalling, but it's nothing new or not to be expected sadly. Video games haven't reached mainstream acceptance, and I don't think they ever will until the heavy association with children and anti-social behaviour decreases, and the stereotypical imagery is removed from that association as well. I don't see that happening any time soon.

I remember telling my ex I was going to Toryuken and she couldn't see it as anything more than a "nerd convention" and pretty much the most unattractive thing in the world possible to her. Going out.. just to play video games. She could not fathom the thrill of competition or supporting a community that gathers around a hobby they all share. Of course we as gamers are more open to this and think we are more open-minded, but I'm sure there are some hobbies we don't like ourselves and have some stereotypical kind of imagery we associate them with that keeps us away.

nutella is overrated

Do you like Skullgirls? DO YOU LIKE CUPCAKES?
Well then...

Introducing Salty Cupcakes, an event that combines Skullgirls, cupcakes, boba, and not-being-held-at-my-apartment into one big desserty night.

When: Thursdays 7pm-??, beginning next week, September 13th.
Where: Frootsii, a 24-hr casual boba/snack/dessert hangout located at 14318 Ventura Blvd in Sherman Oaks. There's a big comfy couch, many types of delicious drinks and food to order, and parking underground. Also tables, chairs, a floor, lights, and lots and lots of breathable air.

I will be bringing two PS3 setups (and possibly a 360), all patched. Bring sticks, and if you have a lagless monitor it would be much appreciated. If bloodlust dictates, I will run a tournament starting at 9:30 or so.

This is a weekly event, so get off your duff and show up.

3 stations in continuous use, 20 attendees, delicious food, and unexpectedly Sarah Williams (the voice of Peacock) showed up.
Success! Will be happening again next week.

Thank you to all who came from miles away to attend!

Oh, also, we didn't stream this week, but we might next week, since the venue has pretty good internet.

Most important event of the week. I'll leave now.

I thought there were supposed to be controversial posts on this page?

Sorry but I call bullshit. Being a child of the 80s I can tell you once the psx hit gaming became mainstream. Now it is just about as big as it gets.

People just want you to like what they like and a lot of people are simply dicks. In the example referenced, it was an extreme sports place. What is bigger, video games or some bmx half-pipe type thing?

Am I the only one who liked Bulbasaur?
I was actually just reflecting on this today. I get who Charizard appeals to. I get who Blastoise appeals to (Blastoise fan here), but who the hell does Bulbasaur and his evolutions appeal to? So...explain yourself!

The PS1 had some cool stuff for its time, but most of it did not age well. I definitely loved the N64 more than the PS1, even back then. Maybe it's because it only had one good Final Fantasy game
7
, ruined Chrono Trigger, and left me with only one Xenogears episode. The lack of Xenogears follow-ups felt like this (NSFW):

Derivative in regards to the art or battle system?

Battle system and art I guess based on MB or blazblue or the like. Not in itself a bad thing, but I might be missing the hook based on the gameplay I have scene (which admittedly is mostly people hitting buttons to work it put).

Mind walking me through the games bullet points?

I was a child during the N64 days.

So of course I'm going to prefer that one.

...

I would have liked my PS1 if my parents didn't return the memory card thinking it did nothing.

Meh, PS1 was only good for JRPGs, anyways.

THANK YOU

I will gladly admit that if you're a JRPG fan, N64 is definitely not for you, and PS1 is right there with SNES at the top of the JRPG console tier list.

I'm not a JRPG fan outside of Pokemon and Chrono Trigger. Besides Metal Gear Solid and Symphony of the Night (which are two of my favorite games of all times), nothing on PS1 really appeals to me.

I only liked Bulba and Ivy. I would purposely cancel Ivy's evolution whenever it tried to evolve.

Any of you southwest GAF dudes going to this weekend's New Mexico tournament? I know notworksafe is working on getting this going. Don't know if there will be a stream setup. Sad that Colorado is going to take their money on TTT2, Persona and UMVC3, though. ;-)

Fighting GAF with impeccable taste.

Bulbasaur is passable but pales in comparison to its starter brothers. I don't really care for any of the middle ones (they all looked like Pokemon versions of their respective awkward high school transition phase). Venusaur is just an abomination.

Funny enough, Venusaur sees more use in the current Pokemon metagame than Blastoise and Charizard.
