I am so excited for Ghidorah, I've wanted to see Hollywood's take on him since I was little. Come to think of it I would have been the happiest kid alive if this is the type of approach Sony would have taken back in the 90's with Godzilla...

Yeah, this is what I'm anxious about. Some people want Ghidrah to wing walk, and Legendary might end up doing that but a classic fan-wing design is so much more cooler and unique.

Yup. Ghidorah is clearly stated to be frozen in the antarctic, so there's something in Siberia.
I'm hopeful for a bunch of kaiju to fill this world, but I'd prefer they mostly be relatively "mundane" monsters like most of the early Showa stuff. Varan, Baragon, Anguirus, Manda, Kamacuras, Kumonga, etc.
That isn't to say that others like Biollante wouldn't be appreciated, I just don't want to see this series fall into the same trap the Heisei series did where it quickly just became a series of Pink Floyd laswr light shows.

That reminds me, is the Robotech movie still happening? I watched that as a kid and the original Macross as an adult. Easily my favorite anime of all time. I can't even hate on Robotech because it was the first one I saw.
I was so excited about it but it's been a long time since they've said anything about it. Don't get me wrong, I'd prefer them to adapt Macross instead but I'll take what I can get.

It's probably just a background prop/little reference because there's really no point of an Oxygen Destroyer in this movie without the original Serizawa.
and as far as I know Legendary doesn't have the license for Destoroyah
Ken Watanabe's character in these movies is this world's version of Dr. Serizawa. Not sure what ties if any he would have to an oxygen destroyer though.
Doesn't mean that Toho can't give it to them. And if King Ghidorah were to be defeated/killed in this movie, then maybe Destoroyah is the main bad that Godzilla and Kong have to team up against in the third movie?

I guess finding excuse to have giant robot for space battles against other human is too hard. I mean, Pacific Rim they're fighting against giant monster so they need giant robot. in Gundam, their enemies is another group of humans. why not just use space ships and guns instead of giant robot and why even have close range beam saber weapon.

So which Kaiju lairs in the volcano in that Monarch timeline?
Most likely Rodan. It's debut movie in 1956 showed it to be living in caves near an active volcano, and it appeared again in the same location in Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster.

At least it's more fanservice than Godzilla 2014, where you got basically nothing at all.

Well hopefully, this eventually leads to Destroyah since I can't see how they could fit the Oxygen Destroyer in the Legendary Universe, besides killing Godzilla off.
They try to use it - but then it fails.

Not that I think it's going that direction, but I wonder if they ever adapted Destroyah, they'd call him Destroyer.

I could only see them trying that if it backfires and inadvertently creates Destroyah.
