The roar was most certainly there, just heavily modified, as if it were coming from a real giant animal.
The Godzilla roar was done best at the end of the movie but it's there throughout. As seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihd_uzrX2Bw

Mothra, Rodan and Ghidorah all in the same film sounds like a clusterfuck
I enjoyed the hell out of Kong. I think it executed what it was trying to do better than Godzilla 2014. Kong felt like a modern take on the old-school B monster movies. I can't wait to buy it on Blu-Ray. It was just a really fun monster movie! What's the GAF consensus on Kong Skull Island? I watched it last night and was thoroughly entertained by it. The creature designs were cool as heck. Thought it was far better than Godzilla. Not sure if that's just me.
So do you guys think they'll keep all the iconic kaiju noises, like King Ghidorah's dopey dolphin giggling?
There were some cringeworthy moments and some incredibly stupid decisions by the human characters. Don't fly away from the giant monster that is systematically taking down every helicopter. No, don't do that. The Sam Jackson character is wonderfully stupid as well.
But it's Godzilla and King Kong movies. They're supposed to be stupid. That's the whole point. If all you can do is roll eyes, then you probably don't get it. Campy seems to be a lost art better suited in the 60's.
If I encountered a giant ape my first instinct would be to run away. Or at least back off and shoot it at a distance. But no, let's fly around like stupid idiots and stay within grabbing range. There was like 15 helicopters. Every one of them got owned.Your critique cracks me up. If I'm flying into an island and encounter a giant Ape I wouldn't know what the fuck to do. Shit happened so fast you don't have time to even rationalize the situation.

It'll end with Godzilla and Kong teaming up to take out an even bigger monster. There's no way it won't :lolEven if they make Kong as big as Goji, he's still not as worthy as Ghidorah as a "final antagonist". It's ridiculous that they're leading with Mothra, Rodan, and Ghidorah into Kong. Kong is gonna feel like a huge step down.

That's not a Transformers thing. That's a Godzilla thing; Gojira and Shin were more about the people and their struggles against Godzilla. Of course Godzilla 14 was more of a bait and switch since it also wanted to do the giant monsters fight stuffSame here, it was way better than Godzilla which had a transformers more about the humans thing going on.

This is not even a thing only about these two movies. Basicly every Godzilla movie revolves first and foremost about the humans.
Most of the Japanese films pace the Godzilla footage much better than Godzilla 2014 though. In 2014 they cut away from the Muto attacking Godzilla in Hawaii as well as the Muto attacking Las Vegas. In the Japanese films we would of gotten at least a few minutes of monster footage in those scenes (and we really should have in Godzilla 2014).

I still liked the movie. I kinda expect stupid irrational stuff and super skilled monsters from a Godzilla type movie. Put them in a modern movie with quality CGI and I'm happy. I thought the bad guy monster was pretty impressive and they have an epic battle. You da boss Kong.
Also, these people just meet a ape that is as tall as a mountain. I know internet board people are the toughest guys in the world who wont be surprised by anything, but no military group in the world will just regroup when they stumble onto a island with a mountain sized ape.
Fun fact - in real life you would probably shit yourself and be frozen solid. If I encountered a giant ape my first instinct would be to run away. Or at least back off and shoot it at a distance. I still love how everyone goes completely silent when Godzilla's foot stomps down

How far are you with the Kaiju OT?
I like it. I wasn't expecting much. It's summer blockbuster with enough interesting parts (great visuals) to keep you entertainedWhat's the GAF consensus on Kong Skull Island? Because from a filmmaking perspective it has more in common with Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad than any previous Godzilla or Kong film
But somehow dumber and more inept than both those films.
(It's been a thing in this week's B.O. thread, if you'd like to know more.)
I don't hate it with a passion or whatever. It's just shitty. Real shitty.
Edit: if they're keeping/augmenting the skreeonk, (and they did) they'll keep Ghidora's sound effects, I'd imagine. They'll just juice it up a lil like they did Godzilla's
Christ, that looks terrible. What is it, Iron Man Armored Adventures? Here's the teaser trailer for the Godzilla anime

His roars were quite incredible in the cinema. Deafening in a good way.
So Rodan has been around since the 50s at least, but hiding, Ghidora is frozen under the ice, and Mothra will probably be born during Godzilla 2?
Damn, that's so Showa. I love it.
I seen Godzilla in IMAX and the scale and sound was incredible stuff.
Guess we know another movie in the MonsterVerse1995 Return to Skull Island
Fuck. Guys.
