Final Fantasy 7 - Last Order

Agent Icebeezy

Welcome beautful toddler, Madison Elizabeth, to the horde!
I found this anime thing made by Square Enix called Last Order obviously. Where in the FF7 timeframe do these events fall? Yet to watch, just skimmed thru it.

it's a detailed storyline of zack/sephiroth into the mako investigation, and when sephiroth goes kinda berserk. shows how cloud wasn't part of the soldier group, but tries to act like one through zack's eyes. also
ends with zack dying to protect cloud

I don't remember any of that in the game except for a few bits with Tifa.

It was mostly tied to an extra story sequence that was triggered when you went back with Cloud to check out the basement lab. You see Zack and Cloud's fate and how he got his buster sword. The anime ends right before the sequence would be complete in the game. The place you see Cloud standing over Midgar in Advent Children with the sword in the ground was alluding to where Zack died.

Ooooh. Thanks a lot. I'll look for that in my replay.

Yep, remember to always check everything. I was just pressing X he hell out of the prerendered backdrops and to my surprised a story sequence was triggered.

I just replayed this, this past week... that sequence triggers just by walking in the basement once you've "found" Cloud, you don't have to push anything. :)

Actually, here's the ending:

The Turks try to assasinate Cloud on the truck, since they can only see him - Zack isn't accessible from the helicopter. Luckily Zack notices the laser pointing at Cloud and he throws him off the truck, making a run with him to Midgar. There is a chance he was wounded here from the sniper shot. Then, the Shinra soldiers finally catch up with them on the mountains near Midgar and kill Zack. They leave Cloud and go off to report back. Cloud finally regains his counciosness (sp?), goes over to Zack's body, cries in pain and leaves to Midgar, taking his sword.

The anime is really good. Somehow it might be tied to Crisis Core, but no one knows in what way.

Well, there were some Turks that I didn't recognize. I didn't know they're the ones responsible for killing Zack. How did they both escape the Mansion after they both got stabbed? Haven't played the game in a bit, but I imagine it'll be a whiles before I get to that part. Anyone care to share? I'll give you a cookie.

I was kinda disappointed cause they didn't show much more info than was in the game they just made it cooler. It's like how did Cloud really escape, especially without Zack and being all retarded from uber mako treatment? Maybe that's what Crisis Core is about, the hunt for Zack and Cloud, we at least know it's about the Turks. It'd be cool if it was FF7 told for their perspective but who knows.

Go to the basement of the Shinra mansion in Nibelheim after the Cloud & Tifa lifestream sequence to activate the cutscene.

The soldiers who killed Zack saw how delirious and harmless Cloud was and decided to just leave him be.

Kitase mentioned in a recent interview that Crisis Core is expected to be "Zack's story" by the fans, and that he's going to "meet their expectations." Whether that means we'll be playing as Zack remains to be seen, but either way, I'm sure it'll expand on his backstory and character quite a bit.

As for the Turks game? That already exists, it's called Before Crisis. :P

What anime are you talking about? Advent Children? Or is there another one?

"Last Order: Final Fantasy VII" (see thread title).

It's an OVA about the Nibelheim incident, and was included with the Limited Edition DVD Boxset of Advent Children in Japan.

FF7: Last Order (Anime) was packaged with the Limited Edition version of FF7: Advent Children (CG Movie). Basically, FF7: Last Order details the events that occured in Nibelheim (i.e. Sephiroth burning down the Village).

Oh cool, how is the video quality, art and production budget? And should it be watched after watching Advent Children or it doesn't matter?

Last Order was illustrated/animated by Madhouse and the production budget seems fairly similar to anyother OVA projects in today's market. I guess I would recommend viewing Last Order first... :)

Thought this was crap, as an anime production and as a retelling of key FF7 scene. Screamed generic to me, and I didn't like how they handled the reactor climax.

Gotcha, the two had me confused. I'd buy a FF7 sidestory if it used my beloved materia system and was at least 20 hours without question! Has it even been confirmed that this is an RPG?

Lame! No turn based ATB or no sale. I don't need a Zelda ripoff starring Zack I need a good classic style FF. :.(

Finally got a chance to watch this and Advent Children.

On a sidenote there are some scenes missing in the final Advent Children movie which were present in the old teaser trailers. Can anyone confirm?

The scene
where cloud and aerith are standing while having their back turned at each other in a flower field.
I couldn't remember seeing that in the Advent Children movie.

It's there -- when
Cloud is driving his motorcycle through the forest with all those white glowing trees.

Never mind my last message. For some reason my dvd player Pioneer DV-470 skipped that whole chapter. It should be said that it was acting very strange lately, though.
On my player after the kids drank the water it skips to cloud and vincent.

Ironically on my PS2 it works fine.

Some scenes were changed though (I think?). For example, in the trailers there's the motorcycle chase between Cloud and one of the silver-haired trio, were Cloud faces a shitload of flares/missiles, dodges them and lands sword first on the opponent. The scene looked different in the movie.

When you trigger the flashback
it shows the basement of the mansion, and Zack and Cloud are floating in these tanks things (like what Jenova is in, glass tank). Some guy comes to give them their meal, and when he opens Zack's tank, Zack takes the guy out. He then opens the other tank and pulls Cloud out. Zack seems to be fine (or in better shape than cloud), but Cloud is all "uuugh...." and whatnot, so Zack drapes cloud's arm over his shoulder and drags him out of the basement. They're then shown exiting the mansion and heading for the town square, and the next time you see them, they're in the pickup. Zack gave Cloud one of his outfits, but Cloud's still out of it during the truck ride. Zack talks to the man driving the truck, and then talks to Cloud about becoming mercenaries. Then the next time you see them, they're on the outskirts of Midgar and Zack gets offed. So if technically doesn't say why there were no other people in the mansion aside from the guy delivering food, or what happened to them in the tanks, etc.
