Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Chunk 1 (CyberConnect2, UE4) Trailer, "PS4 Console Debut"

Btw for all those saying Cloud looks too sickly, every shot in the trailer takes place not very long after he was tested on and shit lol - it makes sense in context that he'd look weird.

I think his design in this is the best he's ever had, honestly.

Absolutely. It really is.

I'd want to see a change as the story progresses. I doubt Nomura sees the need for that though. If so, that's fine. Tetsuya is largely responsible for Cloud's existence after all.

I feel my entire hype just dropped suddenly. Remember that long post I made half an hour ago? Now I feel incredibly stupid.

Just now... just now...

My hype hasn't really deflated very much. In the end it'll be the complete experience. Until then it'll be like several episodes at a time of the TV show that is FFVII.

So Schreier just tweeted this.

Sorry if late to the party. Searched for episodic and didn't see anything like this.

Uh oh...

The first trailer muted my hype , the second trailer raised the hype , but the news that its episodic just destroyed all of the hype.

Yeah, without knowing the details of what this means for the game's structure and scope. Outside of waiting 15+ years to get the next chapter(s) of Shenmue I don't recall having any bad experiences of episodic games. At the same time this is taking a previously singular narrative and splitting it up.

Mmm, I hope we'd get a clarification of that this actually means soon.

If this means that they'd divide the full game up similar to the original's Disc 1-2-3 (though I guess with more "discs") and release them in installments, then I am actually okay with this.

If this means that we'd only get like... highlight missions in a small area per episode with no chance to explore the world, then dang it all to heck.

Yes this could mean that its more linear than the original game. How would they handle the overworld part when they have to span the game over 2 or 3 parts.

Yar, the original game was divided into 3 parts. So I'm still hoping.

I didn't even have the chance to post here about my hype for the game before SE was able to kill most of it minutes ago... damn, it was too good to be true.

That part about it being episodic is worrying.

Has there even been a JRPG released in parts like that? One of the draws of games like FFVII is being able to just immerse and lose yourself in the scale of the world.

After watching the trailer a few more times, I am wondering if the combat will be close to Crisis Core.

Final Fantasy 4: After Years.

Yes, most likely PS4/NX with a PC version sometime in that timeframe.

I am wondering why there such denial in this thread that a Xbox One version is likely especially since FF15 is coming to Xbox One. I absolutely do not see SqEx limiting platforms on what is literally their most demanded request ever.

Why did they never say anything about episodic until now?

I guess i'll wait for the full game.

Maybe they intend on remaking FFVII:CC and DoC

Just got off the phone with my brother... most depressing call in a long time.

we both had to vent and even now after the call i feel like venting even more. I literally don't know what to do at this point. I'm boiling.

Same way they included it across 3 discs?

If the overworld can be accessed from all episodes, but parts of it get unlocked over episodes, then it might be okay. I want to be able to traverse the whole thing from one end to another entering various towns and dungeons, eventually.

Can still happen.

The original game's world gradually unfolded too.
