Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Chunk 1 (CyberConnect2, UE4) Trailer, "PS4 Console Debut"

Direct feed version is so nice. That CG, those visuals, that Opening/Bombing Mission.

It really does look fantastic. The only complaint being the gameplay being choppy (still in development in consideration, of course) and the dithering hair (which I've honestly gotten used to).

"Is the Final Fantasy VII remake announced yet?"

"Yes! It will be episodic!"

"Goodnight!"

If the overworld can be accessed from all episodes, but parts of it get unlocked over episodes, then it might be okay. I want to be able to traverse the whole thing from one end to another entering various towns and dungeons, eventually.

Even the original game, with it's overworld kept you on a tight leash as to where you could actually go until later in the game, gradually giving you more traversal options until you could freely traverse it.

Let's keep it together guys.

"Episodic" has negative connotations ,but let's avoid them for the sake of this glorious thing.

I'm trying. I really am.

Yar, seriously. I shall avoid that other thread because I just know it would be filled with heated arguments and negativity over something we don't have any details of.

Does it? It gets lumped in with people flipping out over microtransactions and F2P and other new models that digitial delivery has opened up, beyond buy a disc, get full game, but I don't recall many episodic games getting criticised specifically for being episodic.

Let's wait for further information :)

Our Lord and Savior Nomura-sama is doing his best to deliver the best game!
Apparently not. And I bet he has no saying in this. It feels entirely like "head staff of SE" fuckery. Like saying " we need two more FF 13 games".

It sounds like it could be split like the Hack games or KH games but who knows.

SE needs to clarify this fast on what there plans are because right now there nothing but bad word going around.

Though got to lol at the XV responses in this thread now, if I was Tabata I be laughing like Robert De Niro in Cape Fear right now.

Post if you are okay Dark_Castle.

Need to know more details about how SE is going to handle this.

Some posts about FF XV in this thread are kind funny now.

Yup. Remember all those jokers saying how they find it easy to forget about FFXV? FFXV ain't lookin' that bad now, huh? Don't worry, we'll get a full game with that one!!! Tabata will forgive the naysayers. All is right in the light of Lucis. To the Father and the Son and the Spectral Swords, Armiger!

Amen!

I don't think that means this means FF7R will be a Tell tale game.I think there is a misunderstanding with regards to "told in multiple parts".

Judging by the not so pretty reaction thread,it sure does.

Now i get why Vern said Tabata while not an easy job will have an eaiser job then this remake.

Aw come on, there's no need to exacerbate this rivalry nonsense.

This definitely explains why Midgar looked so far along.

On one hand, I'm kind of disappointed, because I know this more than likely means the world map is getting axed (and that'll diminish the wow factor of leaving Midgar for the first time) and there's probably going to be a good bit of streamlining.

On the other, the impatient, giddy part of me that just wants to roll through FFVII environments lovingly recreated in HD is kind of excited at the prospect of being able to possibly get a playable chunk of this sooner than I ever anticipated. No matter what way you spin it, this is going interesting to watch play out, at the very least.

Direct feed trailer looks dope as fuck, by the way.

These posts are equally as embarrassing as the ones you're pointing out.

The whole thing sounds so utterly shady. Why not come forth with it straight away? Why drop it CASUALLY nonchalantly in a fucking half-sentence press release without clarifying anything? If it means what we think, fuck em. If it's something entirely else, it's their own damn fault for this mess.

It's kind of the obvious answer, no?

I'd rather each part be longer and more closely resemble a full game. I'd rather them not do this just to get the content out in smaller chunks. But to spend time really making each part great. The notion of basically make each release correspond to one of the original discs then that seems fine. Still kind of annoying how they are doing it.

The other thread is absolutely unreadable, but Square Enix has nobody to blame but themselves for this reaction, they gave no info whatsoever and now the speculation has begun and its not going over well.

Now this is cool.

Probably gonna cover the midgar section ?

A modern realization of Midgar section is almost equivalent of some FPS campaign tbh(and these companies want to avoid making campaigns anymore)

This is a salient observation. Puts the project in context. Sigh.

Ok, this thread is a little more subdued at least.

Anyways, I was thinking about this whole episodic thing. At first I was confused. Then angry. Then I calmed down and thought about it. And honestly, while I would still like the whole game at once, this could be not bad.

So part 1 would be all of Midgar and the trip on the boat. As soon as you leave the boat, the episode ends.

But, this whole episode would be MUCH more fleshed out. So like Sector 7/8 you can explore more of Midgar. Everything is more detailed, you can

-talk to more NPC's
-more minigames
-more area to explore
-more story added in
-more sidequests

So its not some small 5 hour section of the game anymore, its 20+ hours now. Dunno, now that I think about it, it doesn't have to be the worst thing in the world.

In the end, the "final" game could be a lot more bigger than it originally was?

Im glad FF XII will just be a remaster. Whew.

I'm not, because if there's an FF game that could actually benefit from segmented development so that every part of it could be equally polished, it's that one. So close to be the greatest RPG of all time, Final Fantasy XII. So close...
