Final Fantasy VII Rebirth confirmed for Switch 2 and Xbox Series, Part 3 will be multiplatform as well

I goddamn called it 🤣

EDIT: Wording is weird tho. Is that confirming Day 1 multiplatform for Part 3, or that Part 3 just eventually arrives on other platforms (presumably not long after PS)?

Considering Rebirth technically had a 3-month exclusivity terms, I'm inclined to believe it means Part 3 is Day 1 multiplat, but the wording is odd.

Good to see, I am jumping in with remake for the first time when it hits the Switch 2 and hopefully I like it enough to continue with the next two.

Are they saying Remake, Rebirth, 3rd game will be released on everything, or are they saying Remake, Intergrade, Rebirth, are going to be released on everything?

What are they counting as the remake trilogy here?

Cool, third party console exclusives are dumb.
I only worry about the technical side. They already struggled when they were making it only for Ps5, releasing it on Switch 2, SS, SX and PC simultaneously is going to be more demanding.

Switch 2 3rd party support starting to build steam.

TBF, Square-Enix were very consistent with the original Switch, so this isn't surprising.

If and when we start seeing pubs like SEGA/Atlus, Capcom or especially Western pubs like EA and Take 2 increasing their Switch 2 output, I think that's when we can say 3P support is well & truly building steam (and ahead of what the Switch got).

Really hope they don't have to gimp the Highwind stuff in part 3 to accomodate Switch 2/Series S because the developers mentioned that it was going to be a major hurdle even for upper end formats.

Still, good that more people get to play Remake and especially Rebirth.

Also the fact they're announcing other platforms this early adds credence to the fact it'll be Day 1 on them. It logically doesn't make any business sense to announce additional platforms for a timed exclusive, before the initial version of the game even launches.

I'm more than sure any timed exclusivity deal would have a contract forbidding that type of open discussion, for various reasons.

Remake Intergrade coming to Xbox and Switch in January. Rebirth is expected around December 2026. And the part 3 of the trilogy will be multi platform Day 1. And SE will likely do a trilogy bundle then.

Got it.

What a shitty way to announce this.

Remake, Rebirth and the unannounced third game.

Klobrille says it support Play Anywhere

Yes

Both Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined and FF7 Remake Intergrade are Play Anywhere, most likely with xCloud support included.

The FF7 Intergrade also includes copies of FF7 Xbox and windows editions.

Btw, I think it's safe to say MS is asking publishers to use the "Xbox On PC" branding for the MS Store, and "Xbox PC" will likely be used for the AMD powered Xbox PC hardware.

Rebirth definitely has bloat. It centers around regions with a lot of optional content (I would say some of that optional content is highly recommended for world development, party bonding and leveling up) but the game is so worth it.

SQEX has been pretty good about it. Strangely, DQI+II isn't. FFT isn't. Triangle Strategy is.

I'm definitely more likely to buy it if its PA.

I'm glad part 3 is coming but I don't like that the switch 2 version and Xbox is going to slow the PlayStation 5 version down.

After Rebirth failed to meet Square's financial expectations by releasing it as a PlayStation exclusive, this is the right decision. I have no doubt that the final installment will sell at least twice as much as Rebirth at launch.
