Enjoy the awesome graphics in Rebirth

Da fuck. Surely that's just a case of different lighting? It can make a good looking detailed character model look pretty shitty.
It's a case of different world design. Character details in gameplay had to be toned back in Rebirth due to its larger and denser worlds. It's hella apparent when playing on PC at max settings.

Rebirth has a huge, and I mean HUGE downgrade in terms of lighting compared to Intergrade. The difference is too big and I hate that they never fixed it
The year is 2032 and Square Enix has just announced "Final Fantasy VII Remake Trilogy Rebirthed" for it to actually all graphically come together.

The irony is Rebirth turning out the way it did leaves the door open for future remasters of it.

I played the PS4 demo 10 years ago so I'm good. I did pre-order the game though so I will try it next year.

Nice. Will download and check it out.

Nope, Rebirth increased the scale tremendously but it made some notable visual cuts, DF pointed out too. Shadows are also worse than Intergrade.

And don't get me started on the prevalence of low resolution textures peppered through out the game.

edit:

THE FUCKING DEMO IS 21 GB....

wtf

Downloaded and gave it a quick look on the SX. Looks and plays exactly like the PS5 version as far as I can tell. Performance mode is a bit softer but runs a really good 60, Quality mode is sharper but 30.

I reckon most of that 20GB of the demo is the 5~ minute CGI video at the start.

This is also me playing Intergrade after a couple of years so a lot of the QoL things are new to me.

The "Headstart" option starts Cloud at level 45

2. They added the option to make the cut-scenes go 1.5x or 2x by holding RT while playing, fans of the Trails of ... franchise will be very familiar with these kind of settings.

(and it really does benefit the game, lol)

3. The game also has basically a built-in cheats menu, like how the later re-releases of the older FF games have on Steam.

I think this option is supposed to be in the Xbox/Switch versions from launch but they haven't said whether they're gonna add it to the PS5 version via updates at the same time (they probably will).

This should literally be built in to every game. It's such a great feature

Kojima would be the last to refuse :messenger_tears_of_joy:

The cheats are cool as well, hope they add to PS5 at some stage. I have platinumed the game on but would be neat to jump back in for a couple of the battles to be completely overpowered. The combat in this game is so cool, the ATB slow down effects are S tier.

The good (for me :p) thing is that the cheats don't seem to void achievements, well only one does and the game sign-posts it. The cheat Max Materia Level, cause I guess there's achievements/tropies associated with getting them there.

Otherwise for trophy/achievement hunters, they just made that process a hell of a lot easier.

What different cheats are there? Cause if they can make some of those late game VR fights easier, or even fucking hard mode easier, then I'm in.

Edit; nevermind I just saw your screenshot of the menu lol.

Personal challenge: use my eyes to read posts. Difficulty: impossible.

For me the killer feature would be a grunting volume slider so the game doesn't sound like this:

I mean that's just par for course for most JRPG's at this point.
And yet you have a lot of folks acting baffled why Clair Obscur is getting more attention than any Japanese RPG has in a long time.

The funniest part is they made the grunting and sighing LOUDER for the English VA compared to the Japanese. I would love to know what kind of insane thought process was behind this creative choice.

Just tried the switch 2 version. It has to be one of the best looking games on the platform. DLSS does an amazing job, the one issue is the hair has nasty dithering.

It's 30 fps in both modes, but the image quality is really good, maybe even better than base ps5 in certain aspects. PS5 suffered from TAA blurring in performance mode.

Portable mode feels very good due to the switch 2's screen.

Came here for some impressions and you brought the goods. Thank you good sir. I think I'll have time to check it out tomorrow. And i hate a soft picture, so there's a good chance I'll opt for quality mode.

Oh right, I remember seeing that DF video and how soft/blurry some of the stuff in the game world was, like foliage and what not. I wonder why it's that bad. Is it the engine? Because surely the consoles can handle more, not to mention PC.

Played the demo on Switch 2, looks really good, shame is not turn based 👎.

Square originally said they were going to offer a turn based option... that got watered down to Classic Mode.

I can see why tho, the regular gameplay is great. Classic Mode is even kind of a waste.

Pretty obvious that the Quality Mode was the intended design. Performance Mode was kind of an afterthought.

The cutscene fast forward thing has already been patched into the PS5/PC versions.

So in Rebirth its way better in quality mode?

played the demo on switch 2, initially handheld and there is something about the size of the screen, the way the frame rate is handled or something else that it comes across as damn impressive. the HDR settings don't really seem to do much from the levels I tried to change in handheld mode - the intense blacks didnt't vary and neither did the intense whites, but perhaps I was doing something wrong. put it into docked mode, just plugged in while in game, the framerate on the camera rotation isn't as clean as in handheld, not sure if there is some type of vrr going on in handheld mode, but didn't see the frames so clearly when panning the camera fast on handheld that can be seen easily in docked when you swing the camera round very fast.. both modes are impressive, but might be inclined to play the whole thing in handheld, played the original on ps4, ps5 and pro so have done the tv to death.. the graphics still impress even today as far as quality and the seemless blending of the cgi, in game cut scenes and the realtime, square really did well for that, enjoying the game just like before, probably going back to finish off the demo and then will give it a shot on my series x and see how it plays there.

I'm surprised they didn't introduce a 40FPS mode with lower visual fidelity on the Switch 2, but the 30FPS mode seems extremely solid.

Digital Foundry mentioned a few months ago when they tested it that they implemented motion blur really well on this port of the game. Perhaps that has something to do with it.

Dude suddenly has brown eyes lmao

As for the S2 version, I'm not buying as long as it's game key card.

2 version of Switch 2 games should exist. A game key card version and a game on cartridge version that is a bit more expensive. You give the customer the options.

They don't make carts big enough.
