Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade Demo Now Available on Xbox and Switch 2

Intergrade on S2 is 90 GB. Cartridges only goes to 64GB.
So why not 2 cartridge. It would be just like the good old time, when you had to switch from disc one to two and so on. You make the game 15$ more expensive.

edit: 90GB is more than 1/3 of the 80$ micro sd Nintendo is selling.

Would love this on a physical cartridge but it's not gonna happen. Those 64GB express cartridges are cutting edge and super expensive, so two cartridges would most likely bump up the price considerably and people would just complain even more than they already do with key cards.

Played the bombing mission. Looks super crisp in handheld mode but the framerate is rough at 30. Coming off MP4 120fps makes FF look like a slide show. SE should've opted for a 40 fps mode here or something.

"even more players worldwide"

Xbox is available is even less markets than PlayStation or the Switch, and they pull their presence in the handful of markets they are present in.

Addressing an additional 20 millions (or whatever the sales numbers are) Xbox users is "bringing game to more players worldwide".

so it's 1080p docked and 720p in handheld mode, with no reconstruction happening it seems.

weird,
I expected them to push for a higher res with DLSS.

EDIT: for comparison, Handheld vs Docked:

sadly the Switch 2 App saves jpg images... which are awful.

I was watching someone play the Switch 2 version today and it looks great.
30 fps didn't bother me in the original PS4 version and it doesn't bother me in the Switch 2 version at all either.

on Series X there was some stuttering for me during the pre-rendered stuff but other than that quality matched ps5

Wow this is awesome. I will definitely use this mod if I play it again. I really, really want to like VII Remake, but I've bounced off it 4 times already. I always give up around the time you meet Aerith. Maybe 5th time it'll click for me.

The remakes are super cringe. I can't stand the characters

Downloaded and gave it a quick look on the SX. Looks and plays exactly like the PS5 version as far as I can tell. Performance mode is a bit softer but runs a really good 60, Quality mode is sharper but 30.

I reckon most of that 20GB of the demo is the 5~ minute CGI video at the start.

This is also me playing Intergrade after a couple of years so a lot of the QoL things are new to me.

The "Headstart" option starts Cloud at level 45

2. They added the option to make the cut-scenes go 1.5x or 2x by holding RT while playing, fans of the Trails of ... franchise will be very familiar with these kind of settings.

(and it really does benefit the game, lol)

3. The game also has basically a built-in cheats menu, like how the later re-releases of the older FF games have on Steam.

I think this option is supposed to be in the Xbox/Switch versions from launch but they haven't said whether they're gonna add it to the PS5 version via updates at the same time (they probably will).

Wow these cheats are insane. I'll go back and get the plat once it releases on PS5. I stopped at the very last level on hard mode. Had some VR challenges as well to do. Think I only needed about 3 more trophies.

Same tbh. Square, bring these to Rebirth, you cowards lol
I looked it up and seems like they are doing it for Rebirth as well but it was Google AI so no idea if it's accurate. I'll replay Rebirth as well with these cheats and get the plat there. I love the combat in these games but holy shit hard mode is no joke and I honestly don't come to these games for that kind of difficulty.

PS4 Pro version was captured on base PS5.
Switch 2 version was captured in docked mode.

Tried the demo on Switch 2 last night and I was genuinely impressed. I played it docked and while I noticed the image get soft during some busier moments (like a part of the Scorpion Sentinel fight), I couldn't believe how good it looked. I've been trying to avoid stuffing my S2 library with double-dips, but I am absolutely picking this up next month and replaying it.

The lack of DLSS is a bit disappointing, the whole point of the system is to have DLSS
My understanding, unless I'm wrong, is that handheld is DLSS 720p --> 1080p. It's only docked that is just native 1080p with TAA. Which makes sense it seems that S2 DLSS only works for halving resolution or at least in increments, there was likely not enough headroom to upscale above 1080p and going below 1080p would've looked worse for hair and stuff.

A part of me wants to support third parties on the Switch 2, but these FF7 remakes were dog crap. So I'm torn. Maybe I'll wait for a 50% off sale.
