Now all that's left is for SE to announce FFXII Remaster at E3 so we get at least one good FF game this year.

Never gonna happen.

Square is afraid that the real-time ATB combat in this game will make their most recent games look bad.

This is hardly a game that would benefit from 60fps. It's a port of 15 year old code

Besides it's not like it's the sort of game that input and timing is entirely dependant on the speed of the game. Being a turn based RPG and not an action game, framerate will only have a visual impact.

FFX and X-2 had some of the fastest combat systems in the FF series to begin with anyways. I mean in the sense of when you hit the confirm button and the character acts and another character can act. It's very fast regardless of it's frame rate.

I mean if it was a port of something like Ninja Gaiden Black or some twitch shooter which a low framerate would detrimentally impact the gameplay, I'd understand, but FFX / X-2 is not that sort of game.

Would it be fair to say that an eventual Steam port of FFXV is virtually inevitable now, given how hard SE has pivoted towards the PC?

Will buy if I can play it at 60 FPS.

I might be wrong, but I think it's a case where the framerate is locked to the animation, so speeding up the frame-rate would also speed up the animation.

I'm sure it will. The logic isn't tied to FPS, you can emulate it in 60.

The 60fps you see in emulators are vertical sync period, not the actual frame rate of the game. Under 30fps one frame in two is duplicates.

Unless game logic is tied to frame rate, I don't see why it wouldn't benefit from 60fps...

The logic is surely tied to frame rate but we are yet to see the extent of it. Maybe modders will shed some light on this issue once they start tinkering on it.

Now that I think about it, I'm a little worried about the port. Square has generally been improving with their ports, but this is an older one that they've been sitting on...

I wonder who made it.

It certainly seems that way, they have responded about it a couple times with different comments. One being that they had considered it but it would have to come after the console versions since their focus is on finishing the game. And another saying they would want to redo a lot of things and take into account the greater potential performance from PCs (or something along those lines).

I get the impression we might see a PC/Neo/XB1.5 updated version sometime down the line.

K, so I'm a "traditional" FF lover and haven't bought anything beyond FF9... will I love FFX? I remember when it initially released I got some girl power vibes(can't remember why) which irked me so I kinda shied away... but I may be willing to take the plunge when X hits PC depending on impressions.

X-2 has the girl power. X is turn based and more traditional than XI and after.

Your thinking about X-2 not X.

I'm not expecting 60 FPS, but it's honestly the only reason I'd buy another copy of the game right now since I already have it on PS4.

day fucking 1 baby...while i understand many people didnt want to deal or play with 13, lets show suport if this is a good port so we can get 15 on pc!

yes?
anybody?
.....
no?...

As the others said you're thinking of X-2, which has a great battle system/gameplay but so-so everything else. No matter what definitely play the original FFX though. It is completely different from all that and a true masterpiece. You'll enjoy it if you like FF even a little.

Hope it comes with some good resolution support at least.

Good news,I hope this leads to XII coming too.

PLEAAAAASE!

I think we've already sent that message. If they were willing to port IX to the PC, which never originally came to the platform, I think we're pretty safe.

Can I skip cutscenes? Please tell me I can skip cutscenes.

I bought this on ps4 not long ago but would buy it again NP if I could skip those incredibly long winded cutscenes.

Game releases in 3 days and there is no price listed or pre-order discount evident.

While It might be too much to ask if this was $20 because of the other FF games priced around that, but because this is two games in a bundle instead of them individually sold for $15 a piece, I wouldn't be surprised if Square tries to sell this for $30 on it's own. While $25 might seem more fair since the Physical versions of the game on PS3 and PS4 can be easily gotten for $20.

Yeah, can already think of one before a hard boss. its kinda long. Was annoying have to watch it multiple times.

I wouldn't be too concerned. The feature-list suggests it's a port of the PS4 version, and the PS4 is essentially a customised PC.

13 and the 13 trilogy games didn't sell a) because they were mediocre games and b) because they were bad ports.

FF IX has sold over 135k copies on PC so far, for a 16-year old game, at $20. I think if anything, Square realizes the PC market appreciates re-releases (alternatively called VERY late ports) more-so than other marketplaces, and bonus points obviously for putting good port-work in.

15 will come to PC. I will eat a fucking grenade if it doesn't. Might not be day & date, but it's going to happen.

Auto-Save? BOOSTERS?? Fuuuuu.....

Hope it runs in 1440p. Take my steambux Squeenix

Everybody asking about 60fps: these things are a mismash of assets and I bet all those old animations me some effects are keyframed not procedural. There's no way it's going to run at 60 and modding it in will almost certainly break stuff.

It wouldn't make a whole lot of sense to sell it for more than the PS4 version. Just because it's the "new version," higher price doesn't necessarily mean more revenue plus they have the advantage of every sale coming through lower overhead digital marketplaces rather than retail. I figure it will release at $20 and have an first week discount of 10-15%.
