When I had a PS2 and a PC, and chose to play FFXI on PC. Now I have a PS3 and a PC and I choose to play ARR on PC.

So making a choice based on performance makes me an elitist? And why is that? I just happen to have all platforms (except 360 since I sold it) and I will just play the games wherever they play the best.

Hate to say it, but you sound a bit ridiculous calling someone that makes such a choice, elitist.

You need to read and stop trying to be right. Choose whatever you like, just don't think because its your choice it's the best, its only the one you prefer. Performance wise the PS3 version is more than competent, I've yet to experience any performance problems. Just enjoy what you have w/o putting others down and let's enjoy ARR, ok?

Just a bit of forewarning... don't bother arguing with Khrno. He's pretty much the only person in here who I think acts like an elitist (surprisingly!), and I've called him out on it before. He's very much anti-console for this game.

Ha! Read this after my post above :). Thanks for the advice, I hate when other feel the need to belittle whatever option they are not into, to each his/her own I say.

I kinda disagree with the Lightning thing.
If they are going through the trouble of fitting her into this game they might as well go all out with a few of the most popular characters and bosses.

MagiusNecros said in one of the LR: FFXIII threads before: there exists a rift void between all FF universes that connects them and can only be crossed by a select few beings (like Gilgamesh, his favorite character). Supposedly Lightning is now one of those beings after basically becoming Etro. Of course, translated it just means SE can do whatever it wants with cameos, but it's a fun bit of lore to think about (I assume Magius was being serious and not pulling me along. His post was long at least and he knows his Gilgamesh).

But yeah. I pretty much agree. I hope cameos will be sparse and not come rapidly.

Haven't they stated that if it's a character that's dead, that's where they'll remain? The trailer with all the crystals seen makes sense (in a SE odd way). I'm not entirely sure what could possibly fit with the idea of other worlds fitting in with the plots we know. I mean I suppose maybe we'd see Hojo from FFVII and his experiments make an appearance in that sort of fashion based on what he does. Just give me a battle with Zeromus from FFIV or maybe a battle with the four fiends. Guildhests could be just that with these sort of things.

I guess that means no Aerith :P

It would be such a perfect fit for Guildhest to be used in that way.

Edit-- What a weird commercial. Not sure I really understand where they were going with it.

Video games are srs bsns, we won't tolerate anyone who cannot reach level cap in the first week of release and meet our 500 mil a week gil quota for each member. You must clear your schedule in order to be able to raid 5 times a day with no days off. Any and all valuable loot you find will be given to members via a ranked pyramid system. Those at the top will always get priority. Failure to comply with any of these SACRED guild rules will be subject to a ticket submitted to SE customer service to immediately have your account banned.

Truly the way the game is meant to be played.

Not even sure if you actually have a problem with people who play more seriously or are over exaggerating for comedic effect

Did a quick doodle for Robokittyzilla's FC banner/logo thing. c:

This needs to be it, hands down.

Lets see.

Neat little commercial, its a bit conceptual, but conceptual can work.

I looked up some video of world exploration in XIV 1.0, holy samey! Definitely glad they went with the direction they did, even if it does mean occasional loading screens. Incidentally, looking at 1.0's field, I think I've concluded that the limiting factor isn't size, but number of textures per area. So they could still work in the occasional huge/seemingly endless areas, but they'd need to reuse the same textures over and over again. That'd be fine for grasslands, or sandy desserts, not so much for more complex environments.

This is no match for the most serious MMO guild ever conceived:

So you are saying the PC version of ARR is not the best?

lmwzg9u.jpg

So "more than competent" is your way to say "best"?

Just enjoy what you have w/o putting others down and let's enjoy ARR, ok?

Someone asked what was better the PC or the PS3 version, or if there was any disadvantage on the PS3 version over the PC version. I just stated the obvious differences and you are calling me out for giving what is an objective answer?

Why don't you stop putting my opinion down instead, as if it was some sort of lie that the PC version is a superior in many ways to the PS3, a console build from 2006, I mean seriously?

I'm not belittling anyone from playing on PS3, but if people which is better between the two there is only one answer, so stop being delusional please.

Okay okay, can I step in here on the PC verses Console thing?

It comes down to this. If you don't have a half decent gaming PC, if you cannot stand gaming at a desk, and if you don't mind not getting the best possible visuals, go ahead and get this on the PS3.

If you have a decent gaming PC, don't mind gaming at a desk, and place great emphasis on the visuals, then go ahead and get the PC version.

You can argue about which platform is actually better all day long, and get nowhere. PC's and consoles serve different purposes, even if they're closely related purposes. So neither is really better than the other, just different.

Not really. PC version being better is an objective fact. That doesn't mean it is the right choice for everyone, but it is better. You have the option to play the pc version the same exact way as the ps3 version, as well as being able to play it with more options.

I didn't even know this was a discussion and thought people were just joking around.

Eh, I wouldn't call it objectively better, because that'd imply that PC's are objectively better for everyone. Consoles and PC's both have their strengths and their drawbacks, so the PC and Console versions will both have their strengths and drawbacks.

I'd just assume not get into this in too terribly much length however Given that we'd be going off this threads particular topic fairly quickly.

Neg. Said that the PC version is objectively better, not playing it on anyone's pc. Why I followed it with saying that it may not be the right choice for everyone. Just as if someone didn't own a PS3, that wouldn't make the PS3 version any worse natively, just not the right choice for them. The PC version of the game will always have more options available to the person that can run it. Including being able to hook it up to a TV and use a controller if you so desire. This isn't an elitist attitude, just a fact about the different versions of the game.

Well, I will say this.

"All else being equal," the PC version is better. Of course however, "all else being equal," usually isn't something you'd normally expect. A lot of people choose their gaming platforms, based on factors other than resolutions, effects, or frame rates.

So, yeah, if you have both a PS3, and a good gaming PC, and you're reasonably indifferent to playing on either, than the PC version is better. Those however, are fairly large assumptions.

This is what I've meant to say all this time.

I've never talked about personal preferences of other people, just an objective comparison of the PS3 version vs the PC version at its high settings (a.k.a its best possible performance).

The PS4 and DX11 PC client will perform very similar for a short time, however I think it won't be long (or even at the same time of their release) and high-end 2014 PCs will still outperform the PS4 version.

It's just a simple fact about technology.

Besides one more thing, this game is made with the PC as the base platform, unlike many other games that are just ported to PC.

But this is just about technology, an X vs Y comparison at their best settings. Of course if you don't have a gaming PC there's no way that situation applies, and the PS3 will be the best choice, but if someone has a gaming PC they will most likely have a setup that will allows them to play for 10 hours, and not just some small desk and a bucket to sit on.

The PC version is the best version performance wise, that doesn't mean it is the best option for everyone. Two very different things.

If true I really wish they used the XIII-2 costume.
Her knight armor would fit in so much better and would actually be a cool costume to get.

FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn features Full Active Time Events (FATE), which occur periodically in real time throughout Eorzea. In one of these FATE, you and other brave adventurers will have the opportunity to fight alongside Lightning herself.

The reward for successfully completing this event is gear and weaponry modeled after those found in LR: FFXIII. By wearing the full set, female characters can dress as Lightning and male characters can dress as Snow.

I'm surprised it's just through a FATE. But yeah, that actually pleases me because it confirms it will be possible for FATEs to drop loot of some sort, even if they are just vanity stuff like this.

I know the ostumes will be just for vanity, but what about the weapons?

I wonder where will they rank in the weapon's hierarchy? If they're worth something, my guess would be about the same as lv50 greens from dungeons, but below Primals'.

The PS3 theme is quite nice. But it seems like the background images constantly change when you log in/out, so I just set the image as a wallpaper.

It's amazing.

Hope we can have a guild icon like in TERA cos I would love to be sporting THAT next to my character name instead of just <GAF> :)

You will not be able to import an external image like in TERA (thank god), but Free Company crests are being implemented and will hopefully be available at launch. They showed concept art early on with a lot of customization options.

FATE? That wasn't what I expected. I hope this means we will see more FATE events with loot.

Hmm, good question. I really can't imagine the weapons being that great if they just come from a FATE. Like you said, maybe the same as level 50 greens or something. Assuming it isn't some low level FATE which it could very well be.

Ah, cool - I'm glad we are getting crests for the FCs.
