1. Stable 25-30fps, it's not great but it's fine - doesn't change much even with lots of effects.
2. Very, Conjurer (the class that leads to the white mage job) has been the easiest to level so far imo.
3. It's between 5-10GB.
CNJ/WHM can solo fine, it's just a little boring as they don't have much on the attack side of things.
Cool, thanks a bunch guys. Might just preorder the CE from gs.

Swords are pretty lame without a shield. =P

Ranger, warrior, assassin, death knight, etc. would be awesome with a sword and no shield needed. If all they can think of for a sword using class is a tank, then they need better designers. It's all kinds of messed up that they limit classes to only one weapon (so no sword and dagger combos), but if they're going to do this, then they need to add more options for how those weapons can be used. The system they have now is flexible in some ways, and limiting in others.

How is the main theme not obvious lol?
?????

There were a couple other sword classes in the original's Alpha files but I guess they just chose Gladiator. I honestly appreciate the idea of severely limiting swords in a genre and medium where they're so common.

The fuck is this...? Sword without a shield can be quite cool. Most of the Star Ocean heroes use just a sword and look like badasses, as do a lot of Tales characters.

Unless its using a Great Sword, a Dark Knight without a giant scythe is a lame ass Dark Knight. =)

THE FUCK IS THIS?! THE original badass Dark Knight, Cecil Harvey, uses a normal sword. And is leagues cooler than that half-ass, wannabe bullshit FFXI cooked up.

Yup.

Damn right

They are just missing so many cool classes... Thief, Ninja, Red Mage (by the sound of it, a real support class), Beastmaster, Blue Mage... this stuff better make it in.

(All those guys use one handed swords too, except Beastmaster)

Hell yeah. If they can't think of anything, than I have a free one for them...Blademaster. They can thank me later. Heh, heh.

This is what expansions are for ;) The last class I see being added before 2.0 ends is Musketeer

Cecil is a coward DRK, he chose the stupid light side and should not be trusted. Scythe DRK is the only DRK. Fuck GS and lol @ 1handed

I just can't believe thief isn't in. It's crazy to me. What role-playing game that lets you pick you class doesn't have one rogue'ish class?
Yeah, that's why yoshi was saying he wanted a tricky class in the game soon that relied on traps and trickery. So maybe we will get 2 new ones. But right now I think it's safe to assume we are only getting one new class for now besides arcanist.

Pugilist had Steal and Lancer had a Trick Attack-like move in the very first iteration of the original.

Scythe Dark Knight is, say it with me, *karaoke ball bounces on top of the words* a fake-ass, fucking wannabe Dark Knight. Just like that pet abomination Dragoon is garbage compared to The Boss, Kain Highwind. And yes, I know they had pet DRG before, but the fact that it sucks compared to "jump high in the air and stab you with a spear" DRG remains.

I would rather have a more diverse selection of weapons than more sword wielding.

Yeah? Then he become a Paladin. Bust out a shield, be useful, and get to work.

Their design is variety and they do a damn good job of it. I'm sure you'll get more sword users, but pure DDers? There are much better choice in weaponry to use. Scythes, Katanas, Guns, Staff, Mace and so on.

See the problem with having a scythe in the game as well is... what other job will use it? Every weapon as it stands right now needs to go to two different jobs.

I already figured out what the CNJ's second job will be. Geomancer :3

Last night I was thinking about the implementation of a Scout type class and the perfect idea came to me. They should totally use Thief Swords from FFIX, and when Scout advances to Thief, they get stance that splits them into two and they hold it separately for faster attack speed (and more traditional Thief play). That would be the bees knees...

There's no real variety if the ONLY sword user is a tank.

Yup. And they could easily make Dark Knight roll sword only, two hand grip that mofo and go to town. Or even stick with sword and shield, Cecil did after all.

Need to slow your roll. FFVI was great and all, but I would take the "copy" Zeid any day over Cecil as a character. Just because something came first, doesn't make it the best.
Of course he too uses a great sword

Confining new jobs to a pre-existing classes' weapon is a bit of an impediment. Perhaps Scholar/Summoner using tomes wont be the standard, though I think it's unlikely.

Actually, the other tank uses a Giant Axe.

THF isn't in because Monk got a lot of the tricks that it had from FFXI. It's just a loot whore without those mechanics, heh.

The current set of classes are fine for now. They'll add more as the game continues.

Uh, when you swap out your weapon you change classes. Jobs are determined by the little soul stone you equip. Jobs will always be confined to weapons.

I feel like never going back the FFXIV Reddit or Beta forums whenever I see someone mention how wacky Archers turning into Bards is.

Someone should blow their minds and let them know that bows look like single-stringed harps.

FFIV. And yes, I take Cecil over him. Besides, I agree that just because something came first doesn't mean it's the best. I mean, pet Dragoon was in FFII IIRC, and that sucks compared to FFIV Kain. It's just not the case with Dark Knight. Cecil is the best.

Where else is the spear going to be used?

There's no real variety if the ONLY sword user is a tank.

Why is that? No variety specifically for sword users I guess. Lets go back to the spear again and say that their is no variety if the ONLY spear users is DD. Doesn't make sense.

Scythe: The choice of Death itself.

Pet DRG jumped high into the air and stabbed you with a spear. It actually had three versions of that.

Well that's just a problem with this games shitty job system. I prefer my jobs to be unique and I like that no one else can use a scythe. If they put DRK in this game using a 1 handed sword I'd never touch it, that's just a gimp DD.

This is just being dumb. You can't say that until you see how their skills work in that situation. They could be 1 handed and be one of top damage dealers in the game due to scaling of abilities and such.

Knew I shouldn't have tried the roman numerals. Seems more that you just have an unhealthy bias towards 4, friendly friend. Nostalgia gets the best of us all I guess.
Dark Knight was also in 2

Freya could have had the case made for her as the better Dragoon if they finished off her story in 9, but they kinda just abandoned that till after the credits. Other then her and Cid there isn't much competition.

I agree with this, too. If they're going to confine us to class = weapon, then they need to mix capabilities. A spear using tank, or spear using caster, or a damage dealing sword user, etc. It's one of the problems I have with Neverwinter. Thieves only use daggers which is against regular D&D where they can use many different weapons. It ends up having everyone using the same thing with no real variety. Sure it simplifies life on their side, but it losing flexibility for the player.

So if they're going to be so limiting, then they need to give options. If i want to be a damage dealing sword user, then there should be an option for that. Especially since sword is so popular with people to begin with. Heh, I made a thread about this very topic on the FFXIV forums and there was a lot of support for more choices. If different classes could use different weapons, then that would be a different story.

1 handed sword has never been a good DD in any game ever, sorry :(

dual wielding excluded obviously :P

It was when you wear two of them ;)

But like I said, they could go crazy with synergy skills on the class, I highly doubt they will make them one handed sword users though. I highly doubt gld will become dark knight

Well that's just a problem with this games shitty job system.

Nailed it. When people are struggling to figure out how classic jobs are going to fit into your system, you know you fucked up.

I think the problem would be that we would end up with far too many classes, most of which play the same since you would still be using the class skills of a weapon for the base attacks.
