This one can be kind of tough. Make sure you bring a high potion and use flash to keep the mobs from attacking the NPC. This keeps the NPC from getting low on health, allows the NPC to conserve MP, and to be able to heal you when needed.

If the NPC's health is constantly dropping due to getting attacked, he will waste his time and MP trying to heal himself until he dies instead of supporting and healing your character.

Tried this and I still can't get it to work. I hate trying to save characters.
 
Alright now Im stuck at the Feint and strike mission, cant find any hi potions to help me keep my HP up, argh. Does anyone know how to get one beat Limsa?

What the fuck is wrong with their login system ?

Received a code, registered it...but now I can't access my account, says invalid password.

Game really does look amazing.
 
The last 2 weekends I have been mostly KB/M on my CNJ, but I figured I would try LNC from the start with the gamepad. Its pretty fun and a decent departure from the standard mmo interface I was used to. Targeting occasionally derps and anything to do with that shit map is a pain but i think i could get used to it. Plus the game looks pretty insane on my TV...and my couch is so comfy.
 
I applied for the beta a few days ago and haven't gotten any emails yet. I did get an email today though about moving my character to a new server. I played the old XIV for about 20 minutes. My PC couldn't handle it and I don't think I ever got out of the starter city.
 
I think I may stick with the collectors PC version but pick up the standard version for PS3 at some point, the controls work much better than I expected and never thought I'd enjoy playing an MMO from the couch.
 
Can you believe someone once told me in an old thread FFXIV "looks like just another cheap korean free to play MMO?" Stunned me then, but now it is even sillier.

Level 6 MRD doing the dodo missions on the outskirts of town. Enjoying it. It looks fantastic and the music is great too. How do you use abilities/weapon skills with the 360 controller? I had to switch back to mouse/keyboard, but I prefer it with M/K

You;ll be happy to know that the game has been super optimized. I don't run a powerhouse rig, but I was able to play 1.0 well enough. Playing this game is smooth as butter. It runs better than WoW does sometimes, surprisingly enough.

My friends and I are gonna go do Lord of the Inferno tonight. :)
 
Going from PS3 to PC with max settings just now is night and day. I hope they fix the frame rate before release on PS3. I zoomed my TV settings to 16:9 from "screen fit" and the text is tolerable now.
 
WTF I finally get home from work try to log in and my damn patcher keeps telling me it can't apply the patch...NOoooooO!

NM went into panic mode for no reason...I just deleted the patch folder and let it re-download Good to GO ! :)

Man, 3 hours. Wish I had waited to eat AFTER I downloaded this. I just discovered the email about an hour ago. How long is this beta going to be running for? It only lasts the weekend too?

Also, is everyone on GAF going to Ultros? It does allow us to select our server?

I think there is one more phase 3 weekend then phase 4...but now that you are in,you are good till release. =)

sorry if this has been covered, but when exactly are the hours during the weekend to play? ive already installed it on my PS3 and i tried to get on this past sunday around noon EST and all i got was that 'undefined' status on the launcher.
 
My son was talking about getting a PS3, so being the great father I am, I loaned him mine for 2 weeks. This morning I woke up to a PS3 beta code in my email. Figures.

I'll be playing on Ultros at launch. Hopefully there's going to be a GAF linkshell as well as a Free Company. I'm playing with a bunch of friends and we all want to be in the same FC, so I figured I'd just grab a linkpearl from the GAF team.
 
Finally got a beta invite...

swamped with work.

I downloaded a quick created a character..

it looks good for a ps3 version.

My PC runs the benchmark pretty well so If i do buy it would be for that I guess.

This will be virtually my first MMO. I've played Tera for like 20 minutes before stopping.

Thanks :) Great avatars in this thread. I played Final Fantasy XI on the Fairy server back in the day. Excited to give this a go again.
 
I feel like the job quests are worse than 1.0, 1.0 Monk felt much better so far. And in groups people just spam abilities in start of fights hitting everything making tanking more difficult. Overall the game feels like a simple mashfest, I'm a just play this game with my arcade stick.

A friend of mine in my static group is having trouble with threat. Typically, I wait a few seconds for her to get aggro before I open up, but it seems (at least at lower levels) the Gladiator doesn't have much in the toolset to get the job done. Maybe I'm mistaken.
 
Played a few hours tonight. Loving the presentation - the art style, visuals and music is all really great. But does the gameplay actually get any more interesting? So far the quest design is horrible for a 2013 title - go here kill 6 of these, kill 3 of these, take this item to someone who tells you to take another item to someone else, that's literally all i've done for hours.

I feel like I want to like the game more than I actually like it.
