So, running the benchmark on maximum on my computer gives me an average of 47.55 fps. My score is around 5400+.

I'm just wondering if you guys think my computer is good enough for this game or if I should just get the PS4 ver?

Hmm, well you could always lower the settings. That's probably what I'll be doing for PVP and such.

Your computer is more than good enough. Try to run the benchmark again, keep the same settings and resolution but this time turn off the Effect called "Screen Space Ambient Occlusion", and see how it goes.

Either way, even playing with that average framerate is more than enough for the game. Even for PvP, doing the Colisseum won't be as taxing as running around in the city, and will involve only up to 8 people, although Frontlines should be harder on your system, but either way as Wolven said, you can just turn down the settings a little bit if you want 60 fps.

In the meantime try turning Ambient Occlusion and see how much better it runs.

Benchmark gives me 5500 on max on my computer .
On beta 3, at full HD, with LODs options ON (the firsts ones to appear before AA and Shadow settings), AO OFF, Shadow Cascade at Medium and Grass Quality at Medium (everything else at Max.) I got 60 fps with no drops everywhere outside, 45ish in cities.

With Grass Quality and Shadow Cascade at Max i got like 5-7 fps less.

Finally got a chance to run the benchmark.

I got 5525 on Maximum settings (1920x1200).
56XX with "Disable rendering of objects when not visible. (Occlusion Culling) enabled - is there any reason not to enable this since you can't see those objects?
FInally 57XX with shadow resolution at 1024p instead of 2048p.

Are these differences in performance negligible or is a jump of 100 points substantial?

Hopefully someone here an I answer this. I didnt get much time with the beta in Phase 2 and 3 so Im not sure of this.

Basically, I have a lvl 50 MRD from 1.0 complete with a bunch of Maelstrom armor and whatnot. I am unable to access this stuff right out of the gate, correct? I have to re-join Maelstrom in order to get all my stuff back? How long does this typically take in ARR?

Yes, you have to rejoin the Grand Company to equip gear from it. 1.0 characters have access to their retainers and the overflow stored on the Calamity Salvager
right away.
You join GC after the level 20 mission (and four group instances) so, if you have a leveled character, you can just do the main story quests to rush to it.

Cool, thanks.

Ill most likely do the main story quests as another job to get some levels and then go from there.

Where are the characters created from the benchmark saved? I downloaded the Windows 8.1 preview and it sucks so I have to do a fresh install...

Damn, I can't wait.

The worst thing, I can't start any videogame because I'm afraid they are going to announce Phase 4 in 1-2 days and I want to focus on it.

The high level weapons look so gaudy. :( I feel like part of the reason I'm going MRD is 'cause the Bravura looks so low key (and the Spharai look kind of stupid.) I wish they went a little more practical with the PGL weapons in general.

Also, it's kinda lame that muscle tone only effects how your character's body reflects light. It's perfectly understandable from a resource standpoint but it seems kind of pointless.

You won't, or rather you shouldn't be able to find any videos of phase 3 gameplay as it's under NDA. Thankfully, SE should allow videos of phase 4.

My attempt at a female Wildwood Elezen.

Eep earrings I knew it! I've been trying to find how to get earrings on my Duskwight dude for days. Are they female only? Maybe Wildwood only? I'll have to check when I get home...

They're Wildwood only, under the 'Ear Clasps' section (Duskwights have Tattoos instead).
