Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn |OT50| No Time for that Slow Mess

They really should of made the leveling curve higher. Really, how many people ran ALL the dungeons multiple times? The amount of content skipped just to get to 50 blows my mind.

You purchase them with seals. There's one for crafting and one for gathering. The tier II ones give 50% bonus experience up to a max of 40,000, not sure on tier I. Also they only last for 3 hours. So if you plan on spending a couple hours leveling a crafting or gathering class and have some spare seals then you should grab one.

Awesome thanks for the tip!

I wanted the title changed since this isn't really about errors anymore, but I noticed a mod didn't go for it. It should be changed to something (I made my suggestions, but issacard threw a hissy-fit, so let's try to pick something that makes everyone happy). In any case, I feel the title should be changed again when they announce the date they will open the game up again. Something like: "Launching for the third time on ####".

People shouldn't blame the community for rushing to endgame. They built the game to be played like that. I wish they hadn't, but here we are.

I'll probably make that review thread today.

Well I don't blame them that, I do kinda hold it against people when they act rudely towards other players that want to enjoy the story, or whom haven't ran a dungeon a half dozen times already.

I mean, I want as many people as possible to have a fun and enjoyable experience. So I don't like it when certain players ruin the experience for some of the slightly slower players out there.

I agree especially on legacy servers where alot of people are level 50 for ALL JOBS already. What else were they going to do?

Ill be more than satisfied if you don't ignore everyone's suggestion this time and spell my name correctly. ;)

Vashetti nailed it.

If you are talking about this thread title, then I did look at plenty and I didn't like them more than mine (I can explain why if you really want to know). I made the thread, so tough luck if your tastes don't fall in line with mine. If you are talking about any other title to be instated, then anyone can name it, not just me, and other people's suggestions are not my business.

Level ACN to 50 with either SMN or SCH I suppose. There's always the story and optional dungeons if they wanted to run them.

People did do that while leveling there ACN to 50, it took about 2 weeks. It doesn't really take long time to get 1 job to 50 in this game. Multiple jobs is another story but on legacy server alot people don't have to worry about that.

I can say I ran the first 3 dungeons a lot during Early Access to get the full caster set. Then I ran Halatali and Toto a bit to try to get the equip there, but it wasn't cool looking so I gave up in favor of endless Brayflox runs to get the Battlemage set there. I made it to 44? 45? just from the endless running of Brayflox for the gloves.
If the later dungeons had awesome sets, I'd run them too multiple times, but I haven't seen anything cool. Maybe the Harlequin set from Darkhold, but the last boss there has me quite scared.

Never really dabbled in wow due to having no homies. What did they do to keep people in? Surely it didn't take long to blast to end game... well idk, what was it like at launch?

Any level 40+ Miners know what material you need for the level 40 quest? I would like to gather it in advance so I can have it all ready before I hit 40. The quest is called To Die For I believe.

Problem is power players and 1337ists exploited it to hell and back for weeks and got most or all of their gear. Nerfing at this point only really punishes the normiez and poorz who now have to spend 3x the time for the same end result. They should have owned up to their design oversight and punished the exploiters by dramatically buffing full clears to the point that it greatly outpaces the speed runs of old--giving the impression the exploiters all wasted their time. When you allow an exploit to continue for 3 weeks, the damage is already done.

there were plently of those people left last time i went in with randoms just a few days ago. personally, i would've banned all of those guys after a warning day one. back in everquest, that's what would have happened right away. but square is too soft for that.

Found out there is a bit too many Bards in my FC and not enough Black Mages/ Summoners.

What's more fun to play as?

BLM is a lot more active and has you focusing on your mana and changing which nukes you're firing off while maintaining a single DoT.

SMN is a bit more passive with multiple DoTs and a single nuke, but you have a pet to watch over that does most of your damage in the process.

Being more active sounds good to me. Hopefully the Bards thin out so I can focus on that but BLM looks like a good backup.

I don't see Bard going out of style anytime soon unless they nerf their ability to move and fire off skills.

Once you go black you won't go back.

Really? It's not like they were hacking into the game. That's just how the mobs aggroed, not our fault Square didn't think of that beforehand.

I wish the level 31-32 FATEs in Southern Thanalan (desert area) spawned more frequently. It's super easy to navigate that place since it's just one huge desert area.

That's actually a very, very bad idea. The difference between "exploiting" enemy weaknesses and taking advantage of enemy weaknesses is pretty much indistinguishable. In the end everything we do in a game is allowed by the system and looks all the same. They didn't break any rules; moreover, SE never said they couldn't play like that. It is completely unfair to them as customers for playing the game in a way they had no reason to believe they shouldn't play.

God knows the damage they did to the FFXI endgame community with the Salvage bannings way back when. At least that involved messing with lag, this is just death-pulling, a very common tactic.

What are you supposed. To do with all these swimsuits? Why can we store them?

Can put most into the Armoire in the Inn, due t them being seasonal events items

4 pieces aren't allowed to be put n there, so they eat your slot or your retainers lol

really. other games banned people for exploiting pathing of npcs before it could be fixed. this is nothing out of the ordinary. maybe being soft is ordinary today, but it wasn't in the past. i don't check every online game out today.

All the people crying about the horrible speedrunners need to understand something.

The reason speedrunning was so popular in the first place. The enemies in AK and Wanderers give you NOTHING of value. At all, at lvl 50, you get no XP, you get next to no gil, and there are no chances for gear drops from the enemies. This is just a baffling design decision when you combine it with the whole expensive repair bills that REALLY stack up once you hit 50.

Now the repairs cost less, and that is good, but you still have mobs that don;t even give you the chance of getting any reward out of killing them, and that cannot be skipped, that is bad. It also makes the second boss in AK harder, as you will no longer have a way to get LB back if you wipe the first time you fight him. That will also kinda suck.

What Square should have done is have the enemies drop, gil, tomestones, gear, rare mats, anything at all really, even if they only drop once a run or something, that would give incentive to fight the mobs. Instead they added more mobs because, AK needed it?

Weird

People speedran because you needed to do it 60 times to get gear. It's either 60 multiplied by 15 minutes per speedrun, or 60 multiplied by 40 minutes for clearing everything

This isn't really uncommon. I'm pretty sure I did similar things in WoW way back in the day, death runs and what not. Also, see what Riposte said.

square said they couldn't play like that by fixing it asap. they could have judged harder, they just didn't. the exploiters should be grateful.

If by ASAP you mean three weeks then sure. and if by exploiters you mean a large portion of level 50s, then I'm sure Square would've had the balls to ban us all.

Every mmorpg is like this. That's why there's the saying exploit early exploit often.

This is ridiculous.

Try to log in last night at 12:00 am JST and the game won't retrieve the JP servers. Wake up a bit earlier so I can play a little before work and the game is performing emergency maintenance on all JP servers.

Add another week of 1017 errors and I've played maybe about 6 hours of the game since launch. Fix that shit, Square!
