Drop 1 person about every 40 seconds. Went from 18 to in.

That took just 3 mins, excellent.

Ahhhh yes, I have finally unlocked real dye colors. The merchant stuff sucks!

Sure, but for some people this game isn't important enough for them to devote the time to read up on everything before attempting multiplayer content. If we're talking about people who are intentionally trying to disrupt party play that's one thing, but you should probably take into account that some people just aren't as invested in the game as you are so their "skill" level is lower.

If you're bothered by the fact that some players aren't as invested in the game because they're prioritizing something else in their lives, then you should probably make the effort to only run with people you know that are more in line with your level of commitment.

Sure, I can get behind this.

If you don't agree with the game designer's view of the game, then you should probably play something else or wait for the creator's to change the game to fit your tastes. The fact that you are required to party does increase the potential that you'll match up with other players that you won't mesh well with. Fortunately, players who care that much can, and should, forgo FFXIV's matchmaking feature and seek guildies or RL friends to adventure with.

The more "hardcore" gamers that are talking about how "sucky" players "bother" them, should keep in mind that there are all sorts of people that play this game, not all of those people are as into it as they are.

Another part of the game design too makes it hard on those users who you are trying to defend. Which being the players who are not as invested into the game, therefore when they get put into the situations of having to go with randoms, they get the short end of the stick if they are the least experienced making for an unpleasant experience for them also.

A real large hindsight by the design team, since games that are for interaction with eachother should be designed from the standpoint of WCSes (Worst Case Scenarios) which being in the online world people are general dicktits when it comes to manners and common sense. Thats one thing that the Japanese seem to be a bit naive on when it comes to game design in an online space, just due to the fact for the most part JP players are a lot more orderly than the large mix of players we find in the west.

Its why in general its bad when games force parties like this, even more so if its to advance something as crucial as the story itself. The other odd bit too is how the games design cant seem to decide between if it wants to make the story experience a SP or MP one with how it keeps forcing you to do quests solo or as parties with the instanced dungeons. Which once again can add to frustration for new players the solo quests as some can be pretty hard even if you know what you are doing with your class, now imagine that for a lesser experienced player.

alt tabbing had always worked for me. odd

Before the patch there was a good 50% chance it would crash the game for me if I was in full screen mode. Been running the game in borderless windowed to avoid it. Kind of afraid to test full screen until I see more people confirm the issue is fixed.

When I change from pugilist to miner all my clothes are removed. Any way to save armour sets?

in the character screen there are buttons that allow you to assign sets. but changing to miner set you to lv1 so the equipment you had on is probably too high now.

plus you'll need gathering gear. you can get a starter set at the market vendors around your city.

Yes there is. Select 1 first should bring up the set window, from there you can save sets and such.

Number 2 is for when you change pieces of your set in the character window. Pressing that button will update the current set data equipped.

Id say just switch back to your lv 1 clothes for the time being and not waste gil on buying the low level gathering gear quite just yet. As you will be getting pieces along the way from your job quests every 5 levels. If not go make friends with a tailor / be on yourself since most of the stuff you wear for gathering is crafted from there.

A gig for the patch? Geez. Wonder what's in it.

It better be kittens, flowers and login server stability.

Also JP servers back up. Managed to get in no issues. So far so good, will have to see how it is for my buddy when he tries later on as usually thats the more peak time when the shit hits the fan.

The official forums have a posting and thread creation limit based on the level of the character you associate with your forum account. I'm not even joking.

Wow?

Why should you be bothered by how other people play the game? What makes you think people need to play the game a certain way?

I probably shouldn't and normally I am not but in the case of lvl 50 players who don't know where the taunt button is or who can't pull their weight in dps at least in an average way at that level annoy the hell out of me. I am not saying they need to play a certain way but I just have no tolerance for people who have no clue how to play at that level. And I have seen many dps standing right in the face of the boss being blasted with frontal AoE attacks at max level. Been playing MMOs too long to not be bothered by such crap.

I don't mind how people get to max level as long as they know what they are doing - I think that is what my point was. And I don't mean they have to be super good or min/maxer - just know what they are supposed to do :)
Heck, after beating Titan on my first attempt I went in again because I thought it was good practice on my WHM. We wiped 17 times (yes I counted) had almost no gear thingie left because people kept being knocked off and doing the same mistakes over and over. i I wasn't bothered by that since it can be a challenging fight. Just to put my comment a bit into perspective.

A fellow Shiva-ite! Excellent. Hopefully the server isn't too full when I get back at 6pm this evening. Last night was awwwwful.

Apologies for the noob questions, but greatly appreciate the help. Thank you.

On the note of Gear Sets. Make sure to updated them as you level. (press the two round arrow icon while on the class you want to update after you upgraded gear :))

One thing that is a bit annoying with gear sets is that the level of the character does not get updated properly in the overview..really weird.

edit. ah it was mentioned about the updating - I am too slow.
Another thing, you can drag the icons of the gear sets to the hotbar so you can fast switch between classes, crafting or gathering options.

There was no 1017.....O_o
And....and....a proper countdown on the que for Ultros????

I'm...I'm..not crying!! IT JUST DUST! Yeah, DUST!!

Seriously though, so far so good!!! Was que #5 and I'm now in.
Character name Rain Ashke if anyone wants to party up with a lvl 25 Archer.

I think it updates to whatever the level of the equipped weapon is.

-Login Restrictions
In the time period just after maintenance has completed, we predict a rush of characters logging in simultaneously. In order to prevent any technical difficulties due to this login rush, we will be temporarily placing severe login restrictions. These login restrictions may occur frequently, lasting from a few minutes to ten minutes; however, restrictions will be lifted in a gradual manner as login status is carefully monitored. We ask for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Furthermore, as a result of the countermeasures taken to alleviate stress on the Duty Finder servers, we expect to be able to increase the number of players able to login simultaneously; however, if those login numbers still surpass the maximum number of possible logins in the various Worlds, please be aware that we will continue to implement login restrictions.

Thought it wise to highlight this before people start to rage again. :P

Most people are probably asleep (US) or at work (EU), so while it's quite nice to see you all getting in and stuff, the real test will come in about 6 hours time. ;)

But still, have faith!

Ruh roh, 1017 incoming.

Yep, I don't disagree.

Just to be clear, I'm not trying to defend anyone (least of all, SE for their game design.) People should be free to enjoy the game as they see fit without being looked down on or criticized because they don't live up to some third-party's expectations.

Wow?

Fair enough. Thanks for clarifying.

An NA server being full at 3AM Pacific is just sad. And that's with no AFKers.
They didn't fix shit.

An NA server which has a considerable amount of EU and Australian people i may add.

Yeah. I'm one of them, though I'm not on during those hours.

I'm moving to a different server anyway. I only joined Ultros to play with some friends but due to timezones, work and other commitments I am never online the same time as them.

Which brings me to my question, when are the character transfers happening?

At least until the guys selling those on the marketboard realize and up the prices over the level gil reward.
