Heres that image showing that the PSO2 launcher went and deleted a bunch of stuff in the latest update it did. Related to this thread as it apparently touches the FFXIV folder too.
This might be the single most anti-consumer thing I've seen SEGA do. Seriously, what the FUCK?

Maybe it isn't such a bad thing the game's seemingly never actually coming out here.

Even in ToR the developers said that voice acting was not an issue as far as cost and speed of developing new content. I don't know why people keep claiming otherwise. There is nothing restraining or costly about voice over, unless you don't know what you are doing. I'm fine with regular quests being just text, because they are shit anyway and I'll skip through them, but all the class and story quests should be voiced.

Only if I can skip them as quickly as text.

Dumb question #2 from me...

Is there some way to install both JPN and ENG languages on a single PC? On the launcher, I notice there's a Language drop down control - I'd rather not have to install on 2 different PCs...

They also had an absurd budget so money was no object. They also failed because of it, is now f2p and their model is jank. So, I really wouldn't be using ToR as an example.

omg hahaha scumbag status

Not sure if you can read Japanese or not, but heres 2 JP gaming news sites that posted on it.

Seeing how brilliant they were with previous PC versions its no surprise that they managed to knock shit up a notch with this one. Last time back on the PSU days I somehow managed to get my character data swapped with another players. Their whole user database got fucked up somehow. So bad that they needed to reset all worlds and have everyone start from scratch again. After that had quit the game back then.

So I'm finally gonna take the time to pop in the thread and say hi! :3 bought the game yesterday and jumped on ultrous. Seen a bunch of gaffers! It warms my heart when ever I see that gaf tag lol. From what one Gaffer(hey!) Was telling me the guild on that server is full already?

Hi! The main FC on Ultros is full but there is one for overflow members. There's likely going to be several spots open after the 30 days trial period is over and at least some people quit, but it should still be fairly active,

I can't read it but I'm pretty good at reading google translates jibberish at this point XD

Damn that's fucking bad xD

Aren't we able to hold two FCs? Or is that an option which we consider when the 30 days are over and people don't play anymore? I have to say that the FC is the kind of guild that I wished for since the MMO Pristontale lol

Related to this thread as it apparently touches the FFXIV folder too also potentially screws up your OS since it touches the system32 folder also. Figured some here might also play PSO2.

We've also had Obsidian talk about how limiting heavy VA was for them as I recall, and it's definitely a consideration for the budgets of Project Eternity and the inXile games. Granted we're operating at almost polar extremes there, but common sense dictates that if you need to hire someone to do something that means more money to pay them, and further on more space set aside, more development to integrate it... even the more reasonable "just voice more of the actually important cutscenes" can still be taxing for that reason, though this is an issue that's kind of granular and SE admittedly did stick on the conservative side where it's quite possible even all the important main quest AND class quest scenes could've paled compared to RPGs like FFXIII or at least a single Mass Effect which tends to average around 30 hours.

Wasn't there an MMO that was accidentally deleted by the developer? Shutting the game down forever? lol

Edit: found it http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/11/15/hangame-mmo-accidentally-deleted-shut-down-forever/

Just downloaded the 750 MB PS3 patch! Definitely enjoying playing this game on PS3 far more than I thought I woukd. Yeah, there's some annoying pop-in, but it's never been crazy bad.

Also, why does everyone keep dying against Odin? What needs to be done to prevent the entire Fate wipe that seems to be happening?

You just have to actually defeat him before the timer expires.

Once it does "your fate is sealed" / "soul is forfeit" etc. etc.

Right, they failed because of voice acting...lol. And wtf does their new model have to do with the price of tea in China? ToR was my example because it used more voice work than any other MMO ever, and it wasn't a big part of development costs. So contrary to what you think, it's the perfect example. The idea that voice work is too costly is absurd. ToR development was overwhelmingly spent on designing an MMO engine, not voice work. It cost more to make the intro, that no one watches, when you boot up FF14 than it would to voice the rest of the story quests.

lol jesus thats bad.

---

Updated for the JP side so far. Had to download what looked like 1GB of data? Guess we will see how things are at 1900.

New error codes confirmed?

Edit: Why does it feel like Early access launch night again? Really hope the issues are fixed and we can just get on with enjoying the game.

Just went and picked up some snacks from the store, going to play all night and hopefully get some where close to 50 (currently 40)

For Nvidia card users, is 320.49 the most stable driver currently for this game?

I use the Geforce Experience program to update my drivers, so I was just wondering if this is the driver people were referring to that offered the most stable improvements to FFXIV's performance.

Been trying the beta one and so far no issues for me :)

We have had threads on this forum explaining how much it costs for voice work for a tiny fighting game of all things and you think hiring professional VA for an entire MMO doesn't take up a good chunk of the budget?

You say it doesn't? Show me the receipts.

Farming Fates in North Thanalan is the best thing ever, went from 46 to almost 49 in 3 hours last night

Should hit 50 by tonight

After that i'm at a loss of what i am supposed to do lol

What do i need to farm? how do i get the best end game gear? etc. any tips would help

People talking about MMO VA reminded me of the best out there
Mark Hamill & Kevin Conroy in DCUO. not only do they voice at least 90% of their lines.
They also have the crazy amount of hidden data/audio logs you can find, all voice acted.

I kind of hope that you need to unlock all the storyline dungeons to get hardmode versions later. All the people leveling through fates only are going to suck in group content...

Not talking about you guys per se but the ones burning through the game like this.
I used to power like that as well but I know don't understood the need to do that anymore. Part of the fun is the journey for me now.

Been doing this on GW2 (since I played a lot way before release) and burned out way too fast. I don't want this to happen with ARR.

edit: can anyone help me a bit with how to level alchemy best?
I am a bit at a loss after doing the crafting log stuff I was able to do with stuff bought from the merchant..I normally don't craft in games but I find the system here really fun.

Hi everyone! Wondering if anyone could enlighten me a bit because I can't find anything about it. On the Mogstation thing, I want to add a PS3 version service, and it asks me to input a code or buy the digital download but seems it's been pulled out of the PSN Store due to congestion?

Kinda bummed that on the same PS3, my boyfriend can play on his account but I can't >_> So we really do have to get a 2nd PS3 code?

Googling about this is terrible also, because I keep finding stuff on Beta codes. ._.

I'd play on my PC but 2.0 runs even worse than 1.0 (wasn't it supposed to run better??) so I am kinda screwed on that department unless I get another PC!

To sum up, need to buy another PS3 game, right?

Why such ill-will towards other players? When leveling your 2nd or 3rd class there isn't really a viable option to Fate-grinding. You get seals and level quickly. Best of both worlds.

Ah don't get me wrong. I didn't mean that in a mean way. Although I guess it sounded a bit like that from how I wrote it :)

And true..for your additional class there are not many options, I kinda forgot that.
Still, I am bothered by people who don't know how to play their main class because they powered to 50 without really doing any group content. That is basically what I was getting at.

PS3 version is updated and since I can't tell time I'm going to have to wait til much later to see the new error codes. So excited.

If I buy a new PS3, can I install my disc on it and keep playing with the same character I'm using on my current PS3?

I will use the same PSN account on both PS3's.

You should be able to since the PS3 game product code is tied to your SQEX acct and not your system itself. But of course it does not mean you can run 2 copies of the game at once from 2 different PS3s on the same account.

Meh, thought so. Still kinda shitty imo.

Well, at this time of the game it's okay if people suck a bit. I myself am sure I'm going to suck no matter the amount of 50 jobs I already have. The game is different and from the little beta I played, it seemed to play different too. Just bear with it, people who usually burn fast and suck tend to not stick for long due to being frustrated without acknowledging the real reason why they're failing.

A bit off topic, started on Limsa (was in Ul'dah on 1.0, and was a Twin Adder), just so I could get my hands on Arcanist asap, though still feels odd!

Is mining a viable job to take now I've done my level 10 pugilist class quest and have access to the side stuff? Didn't have time last night to decide on which to pick.

People who take the path of least resistance will find there is very little to do at 50 if they haven't done their story mission, everything branches off from you completing it, including your Relic weapon. I wouldn't be surprised if something similar will be in place once hard mode dungeons are introduced.

What class are you playing?

If you like being self sufficient you really do need more than just mining alone. Since making armor also takes leather and other things which might come from goldsmithing for example.
If not you will have to make up a lot of components with the market and that can really add up too.

Making weapons you need wood and things from alchemy at times too.

Pretty much almost everything needs something from somewhere else, with how they mixed things up. So just depends on how self sufficient you want to be. Really do suggest saving guild leves for crafting leveling alone to save $$$. Since you can just grind out fates for combat class exp. But cant really do that with the crafting ones. Have only done a few gathering ones so am not exactly too sure how efficient those are.
