So...if everybody in the game ends up with Magitek mounts, will I be the cool one if I don't use one? Seems like towns are just oceans of mechs now.

The towns should treat mounts like the cities in Assassin's Creed 2 treated horses: you have to get off your mount when walking around in town.

The amount of people who leech CM runs is fucking ridiculous.

Just about every one I've come across happens to be a DRG.

The melee DPS classes are pretty seriously disadvantaged during CM speedruns, which are predicated on grouping a ton of mobs together and then burning them as quickly as possible with AoE skills. This is why the ranged DPS classes (BRD, SMN, and BLM) are so desirable for CM speedruns. It's hard to be mad at DRGs, it's not their fault their class was designed the way it was.

I blame Squenix for taking away AK speedruns, where the melee DPS classes were much stronger since it was mostly just boss fights.

I think he means putting someone on follow and walking away.

I'm a Lalafell, so I have fun with it by running between their legs.

Doing normal Ifrit again on my GLD. I can see how people have a hard time interrupting the eruption in time. With the global cooldown being so long how do people do this? Is there a tell I'm missing. Something he says before each cast? I just don't understand how its possible to keep agro and have your GCD up to try and stop as many eruptions as possible.

Mind you I haven't done it yet, I can just see it being a problem. Can anyone fill me in on how this is normally done? *edit sorry I wasn't clear. I'm talking about Hard mode coming up, obviously doesn't matter much on normal*

quoting myself because nobody got around to responding.

Wait...people actually do that?
Yeah, new players or unwanted classes are fine as long as they're participating, but I'm talking about people who just go AFK or /follow and never do anything. I've come across 3 different people today doing it.

You can get away with it because it's such an easy dungeon, most people never even notice the AFKer.

Wow, the tank and healer left as I was watching the cutscene for the Garuda fight. I can't believe people are that impatient.

I guess they didn't get the memo at the beginning of the quest: "one or more party members are new to this quest" or something like that.

It does that for dungeons and primals, right?

I see the market is punishing healers and tanks with the pricing on the materia needed for relics. (._. ) Meanwhile, the materia for the BLM relic is only like 5k each.

You know what probably happened?

They saw that one of the other party members were in his AF or they didn't liked the weapon the have.

Yeah, they do the same on AK.

Just finished the most hype run of wanderer's palace, with 2 seconds left on the clock.

shoutouts to guy incognito for not believing that we couldn't finish the last boss with less than 5 minutes left, and tiv for those pro heals

smh issacard

I had to drop down 100k for my materia.

On a side note, I'm really jelly of those people who are running Coil. Especially up to part 5 of it on Twitch. Damn them.

It does, but I just think they are blind or don't care. I came back from the cutscene with one guy (who had since left) saying "Are you guys ready?" Well, it says "viewing cutscene" in the party menu next to each person, so I don't know why someone would ask such a silly question.

This game just has some of the most impatient and elitist players I've seen for a MMO. I just stick to GAF and coordinate my raids from there, since PUGs can be a pain.

It's funny, because before I bought the game... people assured me that there wouldn't be a fuckton of dickheads on this game. Boy, were they ever wrong. If I knew back then what I knew now, I might have decided to not buy the game. Welp, I'm in it for the long haul now.

P.S. Really want timecards to come out. Where are they, S-E?

Surprised how fast people have reached max level, I just hit 36 and it is such a drag!

Thought I was the only one! I just reached level 33 and honestly don't know if I even want to finish up the story, I think I'm done with this game for a little while, especially with GTAV releasing next week. I've really enjoyed my time with this game and may come back in a few months. But, the grind for the higher levels is not my cup of tea at the moment.

PS3 version, question about the cross-bar.
I see that I can't customize my pet bar.
Is there a way to "lock down" slots 1 & 2 only?
In slot 1 I have my attack icons, in slot 2 I have custom pet & healing icons.

I don't like cycling through all the bars, or having to hold down R1 & triangle to get back to slot 1 (it's difficult to do in tense situations.)

And yet I keep getting begged to do Chimera by random people while I desperately hope for the right one to pop on a convert (it hasn't) because god knows how long it'll take me to spiritbond another piece to try.

Just a little bitter.

Behemoth popped on Hyperion a few minutes ago. I thought SE was prioritizing FATE mobs over players?

We got any LVL 50 leatherworkers on Ultros that can help me mend my materia in my relic weapon quest?

Please PM me here or on Ultros

Yoruichi Shihouin

thanks

Edit - more info

Also, anyone know what is better for monks? Determination or Skill Speed?

I'm trying to purchase Darklight gear and don't want to make a mistake. I don't know if I should get Darklight of Striking vs Darklight of Maiming? Any ideas?

Thanks

To be fair to PS3 players, emoting and text entry are unwieldy enough that the person might be wanting to thank you, but by the time he figures out what buttons to press, you're already gone.

Is there a way to write a macro that will automatically send an emote/tell to someone in that situation? I'd love to do that, as I too am finding the lack of interaction, and the general difficulty of interaction (PS3 player) to be disappointing.

The community, at least in my personal experience, is absolutely vile, even compared to other certain infamous communities I've had to suffer through. I had a lot of good experiences with people in XI way back when so it's a shame how things have degraded from game to game for me.

Figuring out the logistics of i70 crafting is beginning to give me a headache. Why does it cost me 3,375 tomestones in ingredients and the actual ingredients to craft Vanya gloves of healing? Especially when ditching the materia allotments for slightly better base stats on darklight is ultimately more prudent?

edit: i mean breeches

They need to move those items away from Tomestomes. It's pretty stupid that you have to do end game dungeons as a crafter to be able to craft the gear. It should be gathered or dropped.

About to venture inside Haukke Manor for the first time. Sorta seems like Arklay Mansion + Shinra Manor + Magus Castle all in one from the outside lol.

Decided to create a character today and the server that all my friends are on (Hyperion) is closed. Should I just go back to not playing, or do they re-open periodically for new people to come in?

I'm the only one getting hammered by 90k lately (since last maintenance)?

I had a few ocassional before but now after a while playing I always got a 90k, hell sometimes I even start and get a 90k.

They keep a watch to servers and opens character creation when they can.

Do they only do it every few days and announce when they do it, or is it the type of thing where I can just keep refreshing every 3 minutes and maybe it will open up?

Hey gaf, haven't played an mmo in years (ok, not counting 20-30 hours of guild wars 2) and am thinking about plunking down 30 bucks to try this one out. I always wanted to try FFXI back in the day but never got around to it. Anyway, if I start playing now will there be anyone else on gaf at low levels who is interested in teaming up occasionally? I will know no one in game.

Also, any suggestions on which server I should jump into, playing in California? Sorry if this is an annoying question. I read the op, including the stuff about legacy characters, but I'm more just wondering what servers if any aren't overcrowded and have some people who aren't playing so religiously that they'd be annoyed by a dabbler like me.
