This is a gold mine
Finally watched the entire thing. I'm not sure I get the hate, the game shaping up to be really good it looks like.
Only real downside I've seen so far is the graphic is abit worse than Duscae and the low fps during in-game cutscenes that doesn't has dialogues. Also...minor complaints is the janky animations, but they managed to keep it minimal so I don't mind.

What did he say about it?
Has anyone noticed how the music at the gas station changes (acoustic to electric) when you walk inside a store? Have we seen this in any other game before?

So correct me if I am wrong but is the following correct:
1. Journalists given the opportunity to play a pre-Master (month ago build?) version of FFXV to play through. Their impressions are what we are seeing now.
2. SE releases video of what the game would be if released September 30th as planned, the 'Master' version. Extra polish expected in the Day One patch is not implemented (since it is being worked on as we speak)
3. Gamescom attendees are playing that same version, again without the polish.

Only road. Cant turn around unless it makes sense for the story too.Can you drive in the grass or only on the road..?
I'm pretty sure everyone is playing the version that would have been on the disc Sept 30 if there had not been a delay. The "master" version (that isn't actually, since they're pushing it back now) is also (I assume) what the journalists played, but maybe they had a slightly earlier build?
The video is almost certainly also stuff from the "master" version. So this is the game they didn't want people to end up playing if (like NMS, recently) copies got sold early, before the day-1 patch was ready to go.
That looks to good to me. The version of the game present in the 50 minute video is one that I'd consider acceptable, but far from ideal. Knowing that we'll be getting that plus whatever optimization and bug fixing comes in the next month or two gives me confidence this will launch well.
I'm sure there will still be some kind of day 1 patch on Nov 29 though. There'd be no reason not to still work on further fixes and updates, so long as they're happy with the version on-disc.

I know this will bother people, but, as long as travel opens up more farther into the game, I actually like this structure.
My favorite FFs all have fairly linear openings with limited option for backtracking until later in the game. This allows the plot to develop at a reasonable clip before I get too sidetracked with side content. I like the idea of going to a new region by car, then exploring on foot and by chocobo before hopping into the car to make the next leg of the journey. The car becomes a sort of scene transition device, and I think lots of big semi-open rpgs' narratives might benefit from something similar.
I presume, eventually, we'll be able to free drive (at least on the road), since we'll be able to fly everywhere anyway.
Is Brotherhood canon?
Yes, me too. The game will focus on the story and it makes to have you go along where they actually need to go. If the party needs to go to Insomnia then they should go to Insomnia, not somewhere else. Later in the game there will certainly be instances where you have to go to multiple places, or you have to search were to go next () and in those instances you'll get to go where you want.like where is the next King's Tomb, since Cor mentions that they don't know where all of them are
And of course, before the end I expect to havr the map fully explorable being able to go anywhere I want to prepare for the final showdown.
Delay is for bugs/graphical polish and more optimization.
The game looks pretty good in motion already at least. Improve the IQ, bump up the foliage density and add some AO on the foliage and I think it will be great. If they can add some better bump mapping and some parallax occlusion mapping on top of that that'd be amazing, but I'm not gonna get my hopes up for those.
Yeah, the hair needs some major anti aliasing solution, also.
Monkey Island 2 from 1991Super Mario 64, Banjo-Kazooie... this is not new at all =P
(but it is still cool!)
Tabata on DLC:
- Development not started yet, focused on finishing the main game first
- Planning is already in progress for the actual content and where they want to go with it after the main game
- The Character Episode DLCs will focus on the strengths of each character and their unique gameplay, they want Gladio's episode to be heavy on the high level action

There is still now overworld music. I'm so sad![]()
