Oh god ... q_q

You know, idk if it's a thing in final fantasy but I would love the team to later on add a boss rush mode for ffxv that gets unlocked after beating the game.

I wouldn't even mind if it was part of the season pass. I'd just like to have a mode to beat the bosses in like a certain time lol.

I wonder how it holds up on the XB1. I have $30 of XBL money sitting on my account, and now I have to decide between getting this for an additional $30 or getting the Dark Souls 3 DLC or Forza Horizon 3 DLC in the future. Hmm.

That OT. Man it's going to be a clusterfuck. Not to mention the review thread.
Yeah I'm staying far far away from the Review thread when this games comes out. Don't want to hear negative things that will make me second guess myself or make me shake my head. Like the PS2 comment a couple of posts ago.

While I understand the potential for meltdowns, why is everyone so convinced that the review thread will DEFINITELY be all FUBAR?

Press impressions have been generally positive. Suppose the game gets something like a high 80s MC, which w/ the delay polishing doesn't seem totally implausible. Will that really inspire widespread fanboy meltdowns for being too low?

Hypothetically, what if the game breaks 90? Do people then think there will be hater meltdowns?

Now, if the game doesn't break 80 MC, I expect to see some blood.

Yes. The review thread will be a complete disaster.

Since I'm sure critics will be harder on this game due to the "10 years old wait", and I fully expect Metacritic scores in the lower 80's, or even the higher 70's, I also expect the review thread to be full of "yikes" and "welps" and "lol, 10 years waiting for THIS" nonsense.

It's going to be one hell of a spectacle.

Obviously it needs to somehow break 100 for it to be anything but a success around 'here

It doesn't matter at this point high or low it'll be a shitshow. Most are convinced the games either going to be bad or the greatest thing ever no middle ground. It gets low scores ppl will be having a parade and fans will rush to defend it, it gets high scores fans will play the I told u card Nd serve crow, others will ignore the score cherry pick negative stuff out of the review or claim it's because of name recognition. Not entering that shit either way. Same with the last guardian. Two review threads that will be crap no matter what

I cannot wait for the review thread. This place has consistently underestimated this game for as long as I've known it exists. I can't wait for all the backtracking.

Gears 4 thread was a mess because it got an 85 (Which is a great score) and there were many comments about it not being great.

If it breaks 90's I imagine most people will be happy and there might be a few comments saying it will be like MGS5 where it gets high score but has tons of issues reviews might have overlooked or be liked Uncharted 4(both games I really enjoyed) and obnoxious face rubbing/shoving from others.

If it doesn't break 80 MC, I'll crack open my jack daniels while I'm reading the thread.

No matter what I expect some kind of mess.

still the funniest post of yours

Yeah. No. That's definitely not going to happen. :P

Now, the review thread, on the other hand... When this game starts putting up low-to-mid 90's, I imagine the detractors will be quieted for a day or two. But if the OP doesn't have Stella *in the title*, I'd be surprised.

Can only hope (for high reviews)

Im just hoping the story is good. The game looks good, gameplay looks fun. Looks like a lot of variety. But if that story is bad... Lord help it.

*SIGHS* Sorry to say this, but I get tired of

"nomura's vision"
"How will FFXV review"

Isnt there anything else worth talking about?

How about this

Does anyone else think that warp strike + cool down is not only OP, but kinda broken (and cheap)?

I mean from the looks of if, all you have to do is find a warp point, warp strike enemy -rinse and repeat. To top it off you get mp and hp by warping to a safe spot.

I'm hoping that in later areas of the game, enemies will be able to break or knock down warp points, say you think your safe on a tree, the enemy would knock it down or break boulders you take cover with.

at least on ED, the behemoth could knock you down from the tower warp points , bringing some suspense to the battle.

Wait... Phillip's name was originally Mark!?

But anyway, when I saw that quote i pretty much though that he was saying that he hated it, and that people higher up didn't quite get why, and that it was out of his control.

Turn on Japanese audio, you'll here "mark" a lot. Super distracting with the subs.

Uhhh, As a director surely he has control over everything?

I'm sure it has to do with the localization on this game. I'm sorry, but it's quite bad.
World of FF's localization is amazing compared to this.

I guess it works, but it's far from a standard i'd like. Changing character names is like a massive no-no for me. Especially when they are already English. Again, the mark phillip thing is just blasphemy!!

I won't even bother playing the game if it's anything below 92 MC. I don't have time for mediocrity.

Oh, I'll play it if they give it a 72 (and yes, I get that you're joking :P). I'm just saying this game is systematically misunderstood and that's been reflected in a lot of the predictions here. I am actually quite confident it will be well-received.

I could definitely see mid- to high-80 and that would absolutely be fine. I'm following XVersus for over 7 years and never did I actually expect it to be the Game of the Forever just because it's been in development in some way or other for over 10 years - that's just silly and irrational. I'll judge it like any other game, though with a little bit more tolerance and sympathy because it's SE's first truly modern, in-house developed AAA. Also I see it more like a stepping stone, a needed step in the right direction for SE after last-gen, and thus would be totally happy with an ambitious but flawed game. FFXVI and especially BD2's next game, ideally FFXVII, will be the real test.

But first get new writers on board, please, ffs. Nothing based on anything Nojima or Watanabe touched. Imagine good writing in a FF, like, TW3-level
LET ME DREAM
[EDIT: Other than FFXII, obviously]. Though, to be fair, FFXV seems not as bad as expected from the recent footage (outside of the issues I have with some of the main characters' localization). Let's see how the final game turns out.

The bigger problem is what am I supposed to do at work all day when there's no FFXV news?

This continues to be my issue as well >.>

I know there are some people getting ready to release some stuff on the preview copies they have received but I feel like I want to stay away from that info....although I will probably crumble and read/watch it all.

I fully expect this. I would love to be wrong, though.

No need to be so "I told you so" if the game turns out good. Everybody wins if many think its a great game. Of course some will not let go on either side regardless if it's for defense or the "strong female character" mockery.

I just want a normal review thread with people having a thoughtful discussion about the game and let people who are excited for it be excited for it.

Final Fantasy XV |OT| A fantasy based on the realities of game development

But I personally don't care much about the scores, and I don't expect them to be that high either. It'd be a nice surprise if the aggregate scores are above 80 to me, not that that score says anything about the game quality.

I've only been following this game closely since episode duscae. I think that's giving me a better perspective on it because I'm going through all this without expectations to begin with. I didn't even know who Nomura or Tabata were. I didn't get attached to anything from VS, nor did I freak out over the idea of it changing over from turn based, and I have a really sharp eye for putting together bits and pieces and figuring out how they will fit. I think people are seriously underestimating just how ambitious this game is.

I'm with you in that FFXVI and XVII will be far more refined because they'll have it down better, but I liken this change very, very much to the change from VI to VII. This one should end up getting credit for blazing some new ground, even if it ends up (likely) being the rougher of the (potential) three.

I highly, highly, highly doubt that there will be some backtracking among certain posters. If anything the flaws will be thrown in our faces so that we can hate the game.

But enough about that, any news on summon count?

still don't know why they went with the dissidia writer

Because Nojima on fire after this:

250

Or Watanabe after the classic Lightning saga.

That and some new blood taking over the writing helm can be good.

Well, for the most part, you're totally right. A good game is best for everyone. But, I'm mostly referring to the people that won't let people be excited for it. For 99% of the population, I can't wait for the review thread because I want to see everyone happy, too.
