Final Fantasy XV first 45 minute gameplay video (final build of the game)

I was there in the beginning playing FF on my NES back in the 80's. I've lived thru it all. Played and loved everything up to FF12. But this... this.... this abomination....

Wow at the english voice acting. And wow at just, what is happening here? What is this? What?!

I've followed this game somewhat and it just doesn't resonate with me at all. I wonder if 12 year old me would like it? Or even 18 year old me? Old, decrepit me does not like.

English Prompto's voice acting sounds so much more natural and lively than any of the other English characters. I love how varied and nuanced his delivery is and the random squeaks in between when his voice is breaking for a second.

Aww Prompto. :3

Truth. So far for me it's Prompto > Noctis > Gladio = Ignis in terms of voice acting.

Prompto has been the best party member since duscae just took you guys too long to see it. Id replace ignis with cor anyday tho

Ignis is the biggest disappointment for me. When the guys were first shown he was the one that was most appealing to me but his voice is just so snobby I hate it! I don't understand why they didn't just have his voice actor using his regular voice.

Yeah, I agree. This is not the FF I knew and loved. Cars? Guns? Nah, thanks. I'll happily play World of FF instead of this Grand Theft Final Call of Fantasy crap.

Agreed. Although ardyn(if we talk Bout more than the party) would be right up there with prompto. Love it!

Xp. Anybody remember like 4 pages of ppl saying its not final fantasy because Noctis had the saw weapon..good times

I can't believe they included guns in a FF game.

It was such a fucking mistake. Why not just release Duscae for all.

Yep, Duscae > Platinum Demo.

btw, HexaDrive (Okami HD, The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD and Final Fantasy Type-0 HD dev) also working on Final Fantasy XV.

Tabata said HexaDrive was working with them since before Final Fantasy XV was integrated with the Luminous Engine—when the development environment was still running on its former Ebony Engine. In terms of timing, cooperation began a little before the game’s E3 2013 re-debut.

During the Final Fantasy Versus XIII days, the development team set their sights high as they went about developing it the same ways they had other Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts games, but things never quite came together and it was stuck in an experimentation phase. This experience made the team vividly aware that with the existing structure, they wouldn’t be able to actually put out a high-definition game of such a massive scale, so the development structure and content of the game itself was thoroughly re-evaluated.

With re-evaluation came a new work flow and structure that came to include people from Square Enix’s Technology Promotion team and Visual Works division, with Hexa Drive providing additional technical support, all of which formed the basis of the current development structure.

The results of the new development environment, as well as HexaDrive’s support, was showcased in the E3 2013 trailer.

Tabata also mentions that both Square Enix and HexaDrive staff went location scouting for caves in Chiba prefecture to create the dungeon playable in the Final Fantasy XV: Episode Duscae demo.

This is what FFVIII would be like with high fidelity graphic and voice acting. Posts like this is really becoming annoying it's like people don't even remember what old FFs are like.

The amount of planned dlc is kind of putting me of from buying it at release. Im one of those who rather wait for a Goty edition with Everything included. But I guess such edition could be like 2018 :)

But Ever since I saw that "malbaro" trailer some year ago ive been sold on the game. Will pick up a Ps4 pro at release and would like this to be my first pro experience..but all that dlc hmm
I haven't been following this game too much so the wait for its release hasn't been long for me and it was this video has been what just made me pre-order the game but I agree that knowing soo much DLC is alreday planned for the game is a bummer. I'm also the type of person that prefers to wait to have a "complete" game than having to download multiple patches and dlc for a game but since I haven't played a new ps4 game for a while (and don't whant to wait till february) I'm thinking of making an exception with FFXV.

Is this sarcasm?

Probably one of the most ignorant complains – other than the Nomura 'didn't intend it this way' complaints – I've heard.

One of the things Tabata said was that the early game was always running okay, but it was the later game which wasn't up to their standards. We've only ever seen early game footage, so I'm intrigued to see what the performance is like during the latter parts.

It's very odd. I couldn't imagine people reacting like this when 3D games first came out.

This whole exchange reads like:

"WTF man? I've played Mario Bros since the Amiga days to SNES. Mario 64 looks nothing like the Mario's I've played in the past."

"Umm. This is what NES era Super Mario 3 would be like high fidelity graphics."

*shakes head*

Aesthetically, FFVIII is the forebear of FFXV, we even had a thread about it. Never played Mario but I assume that series also has a consistent art style.

You mean like these? Edit: if this is sarcasm then never mind xD

BUT IF NOT!!!!

But that's none of my business...........

Sarcasm seems to just flew past some heads.

Here's the problem with Final Fantasy 15, it might even be too good!
Please Square, please just give me one more gem I can't take another 13

In some ways it even calls back to the very first FF as well, with the crystals and the four warriors of light. Not to mention it's got some of the most well-known summons in the series and plenty of classic monsters.

I do. The lead characters, from what we have seen are not inspiring, very generic creations with terrible clothing(Armor?) designs.

I don't understand the necessity why some kids are going out to the wilderness to murder animals. Could be I missed that part of the plot along the way. Final Fantasy games have always been about some over arching issue going on, and we know there is one here, but initially we the player are separated from it and just off on a jolly time with our brahs, circle jerking and driving around.

Now I am sure the gang will be thrown into the larger issue at hand, but at the moment, I couldn't care what that is or how they get there, much like FF13, where I just gave up after 20+ hours of not caring who these characters were and what they were fighting for.

In most Final Fantasy's, we're roped into something bigger then ourselves very quickly. Or we're characters that are struggling to cope with the issues at hand early on, just trying to get by.

As well, the game lacks a sense of maturity. This is where I believe I would have enjoyed a FF15 that had Kingsglaive characters instead. Look how awesome they look!

I'm just so done with sappy, emotional tweeners running around in JRPGs. Like I said, I'm old, can't deal with this any longer.

Good luck to those that will play and enjoy the game. I am on the other side of the fence and would love to have someone at SQUARE-ENIX to actually give us something different/better then what I see here, personally.

Here's a newsgroup of people from 1996 arguing about whether or not Super Mario 64 looks "good enough".

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

That's unfortunate but honestly it just sounds like your taste prefers an older protagonist. Personally I don't think anyone should find anything wrong playing with a protagonist older or younger than themselves. But I'm not really an older player myself so what do I know. I just think it's possible to look past the character's age and recognize when it's being used to say an interesting story that can only be done with the character being that age. FFXV is meant to be a "coming of age" story - and even then, Gladio and Ignis are adults, and I think Noctis is too.

I find the road trip presence and the lack of female characters alienating but the game itself is looking good so I'll wait to play it for myself so I can have a final opinion.

The "bigger than themselves" thing... Is basically what we're getting, based on the details we know of.

I've followed this game somewhat and it just doesn't resonate with me at all. I wonder if 12 year old me would like it? Or even 18 year old me? Old, decrepit me does not like.

That's unfortunate.

I've also been there from the beginning. I played the original game on the NES and became a hardcore series fan starting from IV on the NES, and I've played them all.

However, Final Fantasy XV is right up my alley. This game looks more "Final Fantasy" than the last two mainline, non-online entries in the series. The classic Amano designs, the presence of the Prelude, the Summons, the big world to explore (But this time in almost 1:1 scale!)...

I love all the games, but FFXV seems more like a classic Final Fantasy, even more than X, XII and XIII in my honest opinion.

This game has a charm that I didn't find in either XII or XIII (Great games, but they tried to take themselves too seriously).

Too bad this is not the Final Fantasy you want, which is weird, because besides the combat system, this is pure classic Final Fantasy through and through.

Maybe you'll like what they do in XVI. SE isn't afraid to change things up from game to game.

You get thrown into the larger plot in like a hour in,

They're adults not teens

What's immature about what's happening in the game

The part about the wilderness I won't even touch on because idk what that means that's every game ever

Having seen Kingsglaive I'm sure FFXV will actually get pretty fantastical in it's concepts and designs. Over the course of it's development that became more and more apparent. Apart from maybe the desert region, which I still find visually too bland and realistic, FFXV is already pretty fantastical now.

American Express stickers really rub me the wrong way though...

I did a double-take when I saw a Beats by Dre logo in Kingsglaive.

Missed opportunity not having Still DRE as one of the car radio songs.

The amount of progress this game has made is undeniably impressive. I've never played a FF before, so this might be a good first foray.

That said, I cannot get over how stupid Cindy's design is. Bordering on Quiet levels of character design idiocy.

Nah, I don't think Cindy's design is that stupid. A sexy mechanic girl - I mean it makes you roll your eyes a bit but it doesn't look THAT out of place. Quiet was ridiculous though, from the ripped stockings, to the lack of a top to the blatant sexual objectification in the intermissions in your chopper. Plus she had next to no personality.

But I digress, this footage has blown my mind. Wasn't expecting upgrades of this magnitude.

wtf nonsense did I stumble onto here??

Round ass?

Heels?

It's like he's a man from the waste up, and a woman from the waste down...

The heels are probably there to make the actor taller, more fitting as Superman. But they could have disguised it better in the boot design. The butt however is indeed pretty huge and round...holy sh*t! XD Maybe it's actually natural and since when are only women allowed to have pronounced butts?
What is the main audience of the Supergirl series? If it is actually young women...then no wonder.

One issue for me is only 4 slots for everything, weapon, skills, magic....it is the PSP "not enough button" game design philosophy. Seems Tabata team has spent too much time developing Type0 and couldn't switch gear when developing FF15.

Well not that PSP games couldn't use more than 4 skills, birth by sleep's skill deck system and CCFF7's circling through materia system are brilliant.

I feel the same way about XV.There's something about it that makes me root for this game more than any Final Fantasy since..IX.
