Now even if this is offscreen, this is what truly shows the improvements SE's made. You're not going to see a lot of detail with a barren desert. However, you compare open areas like Duscae from August to this in the current build...it's pretty impressive.

Everything in the BGW off screen stuff looks great.

I mean the movie has that low a RT score for very valid reasons, it really fails as a film dude.
Please, please, please people need to stop using review aggregate site scores as some sort of objective reason a game/movie is bad. Just these scores on RT or Metacritic don't say much (to me), but when the sample size is soooooo small these scores don't say much at all. But sure, there are plenty of objective reasons the film is bad, and there are many subjective reasons too. I won't get into that here as I've already detailed my complaints before.
I have no clue what scene and what impressions thread you are talking about.
Alright, I better be extra careful from now on. Was just significantly spoilered about the game over in the Kingsglaive thread when I didn't suspect it. .___.
It's just a picture of 4 people standing, it isn't much of a spoiler unless someone wrote "Here is a scene of 4 people standing after they murdered every character you like". But whatever, people considered the spoiler of the Regalia a spoiler.

And I posted this in the other thread (which I still think was unnecessary) and got no response. Was this "star" rating always in the battle/combat grading system or is this a detail of a different build?

Why is everyone posting images in spoiler tags without any explanation what we are about to see?
Where is this stuff even from? Any chance we will be seeing direct feed footage of that?

Also, we should be careful judging the games graphics by these off screen video gifs. Even a two weeks long dead cat would look nice on them. ;)

This looks beautiful as is even with the quality..is it November yet?

What region is this btw? The third one after duscae?

Not sure but it's the same region as the Bandersnatch dungeon.

Nah I think if you zoom in it really looks like his hood is back.

The lower half of his face is also covered by the hood on the sides.

I looked at it again and it does look like a hoodie lol. Especially the lower part which is curved inwards, something his hair/bangs doesn't do.

It was a live playthrough from Brazil I believe, so no, we're probably not getting direct feed of this. It's the same general area as Twitchcon, but the video has a lot more driving and exploring the surrounding area.

My bad look at those ps2 graphic rocks disgusting

Lol, that's not what I said. I said games tend to look good in off screen videos and gifs. Since everything is so small you can't see any possibly unpretty details and the contrast is usually higher too. It hides a lot of flaws.

I already mentioned why the movie was bad, but was just pointing out that hey, it's not just me that thinks so. I consider RT to be a pretty good metric as it very rarely leads me astray when it comes to film scores compared to metacritic.

I've failed all of you. I am not worthy of spreading the word of our Lord anymore. Please forgive me.

My brother and sisters, will you carry on my life's work for me?

I will live on through you.

Farewell.

*picks up magicite*

Koozek.... are you really gone?

As long as he has that supposedly
bigger role in the game like the German(?) video teased a couple of days ago
, he can drop the hoodie as much as he wants.

I'm not sure if that was talking about Ravus.

I did think the hood was badass, but I'm sure it would've come off eventually anyway. Am I the only one who likes Ravus' design?

*crickets*

I-I'm sorry I'll go...

He looks like a Final Fantasy XIII villain >_>

Shit :C

It would be easier to accept it if his design wasn't so bad.
Yea and it isn't like some Kylo Ren shit where a character is purposefully lame looking. It should be, but it's not. -_-

He has a stupid pouty face.

Well we know Ravus was
spurned by the Gods when the ring burned him, but who knows it might not be.

Ravus is way better looking than space pope! lol, I think I mainly just like how much his appearance contrasts Noctis.

It's from the Barcelona footage. It does tease something big: "Two men rise. One suffered repudiation from the gods. The other was born to be king. Both face each other for the fate of the world." Ravus was rejected by the Lucian kings in the movie, so it could be him. The other man is Noctis obviously.

Did you read the 4chan leaks?

Nope.

Yeah that's what i, and i guess pretty much everyone, is thinking.

FFXIII had villains?

It feels like Ardyn has more screentime in previews than Barthandelus had in the entire game lol.

It's great that Ardyn meets the party as soon as the first chapter. After XII and XIII I was worried. In XII the whole party basically just meet Vayne right before the last battle lol

Nope.

It makes you wonder though:
Why are they hiding this plot point considering it seems to be a fundamental part of the whole story? (just like the plague of the stars - which are mentioned in the same introduction a few seconds before)

Well, in any case, I still got the feeling we haven't seen much of the story...

Here's what Yoko Shimomura has to say on the whole change from Versus to XV.

"The basic scenario and story concepts haven't changed that much," she explains, speaking through a translator. "They're quite similar to what they were originally. There have been some changes, small scenario tweaks and the game's functionality itself has changed. But overall, from a musical perspective, the concepts that we wanted to use from the start, they're pretty much as they were. It's kept on the same theme, basically."

I have no reason to doubt her of all people on this. While the style is different, the story beats are likely very similar. We can speculate for ages though but we'll never come to a definitive answer since we don't know the story or how it would've played out.

So it didn't change all that much.
I'm okay with this, anyone else wants to add anything ?
Last chance cause I'm not looking back.

I'm glad they haven't shown much of it.

I'll just shut up then :P

Damn you!

I think
Ravus importance and plot points are being kept secret because to me it feels like he's still a villain in the making. Opposite to classic FF that begins the game already with plans, knowledge and whatever, we always see him looking for something (power in KG) or doubting things (THS trailer). Kind of a similar process that Noct is also going through (which would justify even more the text from Barcellona). We'll see him grow and fill his role as the antagonist through the game, and i guess they don't want to spoil it for us?

That's what I think too. I suppose we'll find out soon enough.

I don't see how you could interpret that as anything but Ravus, especially considering that the 4chan leaks make other candidates look even more unlikely.

Just watched the Eurogamer video and it pretty much sold me on the game. Both the game and commentary were really fun.

So unless the game gets absolute trash videos/impressions closer to its release or most reviews give it 6-7s, I'll pick this one up in the first week.

Really hoping that combat is as fun as it seems to be.

For those looking for the complete BGW footage you can see it here (off screen):

That'd be cool if its indeed their plan.
It's just... after all this focus on Ardyn (especially in the TGS trailer) it's becoming harder to believe he's not *the* antagonist. We also don't know sh*t about his past and true intentions (unless I'm missing something outside the leaks). Maybe he is the rejected man, even if Ravus is the most obvious candidate for now. Future trailers (there's still some time left) might clear some stuff (for better or for worse).
