Final Fantasy XV first 45 minute gameplay video (final build of the game)

Ahhhhhh, I can't wait to see Bahamut's design and inevitable reveal in-game. I have no doubt that Mega Flare will look spectacular.

I don't see how you could interpret that as anything but Ravus, especially considering that the 4chan leaks make other candidates look even more unlikely.

SERIOUSLY, DON'T CLICK THIS SHIT IF YOU DIDN'T READ THE 4CHAN LEAKS

Also, Kingsglaive spoilers.

That could be Ardyn, not necessarily Ravus.

One destined to be a King - Noctis
One rejected by the gods - The ancient Lucian king that for whatever reason isn't part of the KOTR, and instead roams the land pursuing his own agenda?
They fight for the fate of the world - Self explanatory, but that would fit with any character in the entire game.

Then you have things like the Dawn trailer, with Regis lamenting his son's destiny. It's not simply "the King's duty", it must have to do with his near-death experience and the eyes that see the light of expiring souls. After Kingsglaive, we know that the towering figures in that trailer are the KOTR. Maybe "Noctis' destiny" was being chosen by the old Lucian kings to fight against Ardyn. He got to keep his live in exchange, but will have his fate tied to the will of the Old Wall, as an instrument to get rid of "the traitor".

So after watching the Eurogamer video

what's the second best one to watch, Gamespot's or the other one?
Meh polygons is pretty boring they just rush thru it and not as good a player either no magic was used, never switched weapons at all. Haven't seen GameSpot

Have you watched the twitchcon video? Player isnt very good but a Beautiful area is shown along with another lil boss some interesting weapons

Polygon's is pretty not spectacular imho. Very by the book. Nothing off the beaten path. And Dino is the worst VO I've maybe ever heard in a video game. Not sure if the other vids got that far.

I'll try Gamespot's then...

Nah I'm avoiding that one.

Ah apologies hope I didn't spoil anything for u

Edit: lol was over on dualshockers and ffxv was the most anticipated game for tgs according to famitsu but here's where it gets funny in the vote for what had the best livestream it placed third...that atr was utter garbage lol the hype is real

Y'all think they will give individual themes for the Summon trials? I feel like that would be a missed opportunity if they didn't. FFXIV has kinda spoiled me in that regard.

They don't exist.
It's usually the other way around.

It's kind of an awesome marketing technique, even if it was probably accidental. There won't be a graphics backlash, at the very least. That's a problem most Fall releases have (Ass Creed)
Yeah I'm pretty sure there aren't other games that have shown off weakened and downgraded builds for age and then in the last two months before launch they look like the bomb suddenly. I just thought I'd ask because a few pages back when I suggested how weird this situation is, people acted like this is a normal graphical jump timeframe and it isn't normal at all.

I would really like to enjoy this game, but I just find those character designs insufferable. The epitome of coolness by committee—which is pretty much the opposite of actual coolness. Hopefully the gameplay can overcome it's design, but after FFXIII I'm not exactly hopeful. That game was destroyed by its characters; I actually wanted the monsters to win most of the time.

FFXIII has some awful characters, but the design itself is alright for the most part. In fact Vanilla was the only one I really dislike. With that said, FFXV does seem like a step back in that department. I'd rather go on a road trip with Snow (just the design, not the character) and Sezh (dude is what Prompto suppose to be).

Ardyn's character design isn't by Nomura. Whatever he is he won't be the game's end villain.

Even Older Noctis wasn't designed by Nomura. I don't think this is as definitive as people make it seem. If a future version of Nomura's own character didn't have to be designed by him, I don't think they really care at all.

FF15 may be the game that breaks the pattern sure. But based on previous entries where supporting designers like Nao Ikeda (just like Ferrari for 15) worked on character designs for villains who were featured heavily in trailers (like Jihl Nabaat and Yaag Rosch) and well, we know what happened with them. The supporting character designer designed supporting characters. Nomura designed Dysley and regardless if some disagree on FF13 having villains that design for all intensive purposes was the main antagonist.

Just watched the Eurogamer video and it pretty much sold me on the game. Both the game and commentary were really fun.

So unless the game gets absolute trash videos/impressions closer to its release or most reviews give it 6-7s, I'll pick this one up in the first week.

Really hoping that combat is as fun as it seems to be.

Cool, been keeping up with the thread and it seems you made a complete 180 just from a video.

I really wanna watch the video but I am doing my best not to haha.

Ignis, Gladio, and Noctis' look haven't changed from the 2011 trailer. It's implied that Naora designed the version of Prompto we have right now, but he has the same Roen outfit obviously.

And yeah, we don't know who designed Ravus' face. He sure does remind me of Gackt though...lol. He also appears to have the same outfit underneath the cloak with the hood from the 2013 trailer. For whatever reason they removed the cloak on top (at least based on the few appearances he's had).

When Tabata said this line in the video about the delay, i had goosebumps.

Tabata has the Itagaki spirit. The master ninja would be proud.

Itagaki: I’d like to show everybody some of the new stuff that we’ve been working on in the near future. The only problem with that is that when the other developers see what we’re doing, they’re going to lose all of their motivation to create any game in the same genre, because there’s no way they can beat it.

Yeah. It pretty much changed my view of the game completely.

I was actually in the same boat as you are right now and didn't want to spoil the first hour of the game to myself, so I was just reading the impressions and watching the gifs and comparison pictures. The visual bump was obvious from those so that made me more interested in the game.

The comment about combat being "boring" was obviously based off of my own experience with the Plat demo as I stated later. But since so many people told me to dismiss the demo and that the combat has been improved, I became more curious and decided to say "screw it" and watch the Eurogamer video.

Honestly, I'm happy that I did. They were right. The combat looks way better and fun in the final version. In fact the whole game looks way way better than anything that Godawful demo had to offer. I would have even pre-ordered it if I had not been burned so many times before with other games launching in a sorry state.

Anyway, I didn't see anything really spoilery in that Eurogamer video. So if you are on the fence or worried about the game like I was, I recommend you to watch it. The awesome commentary of the guys that are playing it is a huge bonus as well.

Also, didn't see anyone mention this but the nighttime being actually dark and really dangerous reminded me of Dragon's Dogma, which is probably the biggest compliment that I can give to a RPG title when it comes to having good nighttime.

Is it safe to expect cities in FFXV to be as large as the ones appearing in W3 (like Novigrad)?

I always dreamed of a huge Final Fantasy city that would be explorable.

won't be surpised if cities falls in the non open world parts of the game.

Well, what we'veel seen from cities seemed pretty open. We've only seen small parts of them, though, so it's not at all impossible they just steered clear of the closed off areas. We definitely can't say for sure yet.

did we see big cities ? from what i remember we only saw town so far.
we'll see but if not fully open it still can be fairly open hub

We have seen a few snapshots from Altissia spread out over the whole marketing campaign, but never more than 2 minutes at once.

surely this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3mmKpS-ORY
i miss that. Seems open to me

Hope it is open like xenoblade when you can fly with you car (despite the technical limitation the game is really impressive on that point)

Yeah, that was the main but I was referring to. There is also like a minute in the Twitch con 2016 presentation.

Looking back at this footage, I am starting to get some doubt about it's openness, since all travelling we see is done by gondola. We'll see, though, perhaps they just wanted to show the romantic gondola ride!

As far as cities in the world (that we know of)go there is:

Insomnia
Lestallum
Altissia
Tenebrae
Nifelheim

From what it sounds like, Insomnia is just a battle ground and not fully explorable. I wouldn't be surprised if Nifelheim is the same situation.

Lestallum is pretty small and seems to be fully explorable no BS.

Altissia is an interesting case. While it appears to be fully or at least mostly explorable. it's divided up into several islands which are traversed by hopping in a gondola. Think of it as a Venetian Esthar. Tenebrae is probably similar but with trains instead of gondolas.

Insomnia is an interesting case though, because it appears to be fully modeled out. I don't think it being not fully explorable is a technical issue. I think it was budget more than anything.

I believe these shots were from really really early builds of the game. (Pre-TGS 2014 rereveal) But even still, I think they have the city fully built, and perhaps it will be more fleshed out through DLC. Kind of like how Oxenfurt was largely unused in W3 until the Hearts of Stone DLC.

Its possible. Doesn't one of the expansions mention a new area to explore?

For those looking for the complete BGW footage you can see it here (off screen):

SPOILER WARNING: Locations, shots of characters we've already seen doing things we haven't seen

EDIT: Additional warning: NSFW exploration porn. Bring tissues.

Just watched this, and it shows that the players at the twitch con presentation just weren't up to the task of showing the combat satisfyingly (not to bash them, they played it for the first time): there is some good aerial combat on display, so it is definitely worth taking a look at the footage (starting at 21.57).
