Final Fantasy XV first 45 minute gameplay video (final build of the game)

They have showed 5 dungeons to us so far. The first one with the spider lady, the ice cave, the goblin's cave from episode duscae, the mines and the one from twitch con. I'm not that worried.

The majority of those are also sidequests. I honestly think we're going to be spoiled by the dungeons in this game.

So the only footage from later on in the game we have are the Altissia videos, the Marlboro thing and the Niflheim car sequence?

I think this is the Duscae demo area in red circle.

Not bad! World is definitely going to be big enough, just hope it's much more dense than duscae. I haven't watched too much of the new footage but as long as there are lots of hunts and hidden treasures between the bigger sidequests, it shouldn't be a huge deal. Is there any sort of sight seeing log system? FFXIV has something like that and it'd actually make more sense for XV to have one.

How does that work?

How does that work?

You come across certain landmarks or pre determined sight seeing spots and you'd trigger them, in FFXV it would make sense for Prompto to take a picture. You'd get experience or some sort of reward and then you'd also get a photo with some flavor text or history on the particular spot you uncovered.

It's a rather simple system but it can do wonders for world building. Plus you can throw in some neat rewards tied to it.

And flying! :)

We didn't get to see the Regalia flying over anything other than the Lucis region though, right?

This sounds really awesome, I hope there's something similar in the game.

You have skills that give you AP for long drives, for example, so they're definitely willing to give you battle-related rewards for the road tripping aspects.

Though you could argue that Prompto's photography level is already an in-game reward for the places that prompt you with taking a picture. We'll see.

Yup we've seen other areas but aside from trailers only gameplay wise areas we've seen are the earlier ones. Kinda glad too wouldn't be able to resist a full video of them walking thru Altissia even tho I want to see it in all its glory myself

.
Yup. Looked like it flew over the first region and duscae to me

Hard to tell with so much of it looking kinda unfinished, but most likely, no. But, seeing the thing flying and turning into the Ragnarok kinda counts, IMO. Your overall point still stands, though. I never disagreed with that.

Yeah but at least there's fast travel. And once you start getting into the high-level hunts it'll be pretty cool to roll out from town on your chocobos to find it.
Eh I know, which reminds me anyone else think they're more color chocobos. Matt said in the twitch stream so far we've shown yellow, white and black and haven't shown what makes them different

Is the Titan stuff in Cleigne? Do you know?

What about the Barcelona footage, was that also in Lucis? That looked pretty awesome.

Oh yeah, just trying to see if we saw anything else.

Barcelona footage was indeed in Lucis, assuming Lucis is the general map we've seen so far. It's near to that funky mountain with the Lion King ledge nearby, which you can see from the very opening of the game when the camera pans up to show the FFXV logo.

Has anyone been able to pin down the area from the Duscae demo on this map?.

The blue area is the more or less exact explorable area in Episode Duscae.

Can't help but look at that little blip in the middle of that that represents the pond in Duscae, and imagine myself at normal person scale looking out over it, getting a real sense of scale. The map is goddamn impressive.

I can easily deal with less npcs in games. However it really scares me now that there are invisible walls in cities.

That was honestly one of my biggest hopes of this. Ffxiii failed me of city exploration, still optomistic that xv won't do the same.

I enjoy exploring the devs creation of cities, and when you build a awesome layout of atlissa just to have areas not accessible will suck. Hopefully they will be. (because we don't know a whole lot now)
I know it's hopeful thinking, but maybe the walls are for demo purposes?
I know, I doubt it too.

I doubt it. The way I read it, it sounded like it was there to not have to deal with finding a way to get the player back up. I don't have a problem with it. It's not a platformer, so falling off of bridges and whatnot isn't really part of the challenge.

You guys are hoping the wrong thing. If you want a realistic hope, hope it's just for something like not falling off of a cliff, not to be restrictive.

I think you guys might have read too much (or too little) into it. They didn't say it was invisible walls all over the place. It just prevented you from falling into an area that isn't there to be explored, IE, a huge pit/moat.

Your 100% right.

I'm just a bit paranoid I guess. I really enjoy city exploration. After having little to no city exploration in Ffxiii, I was hoping that xv would go completely away from that. It's like my main concern with the game haha.

I'm sure you'll be able to explore the smaller towns without much restriction but I don't think the larger cities like Altissia will be fully explorable just based on their scope. Either way, hopefully the invisible barriers aren't too ridiculous. I can understand not be able to jump off every bridge but I'm hoping that things like blocked off streets have atleast visible barriers or a plot device keeping you from entering them, rather than a straight up impassable/invisible wall.

Now that you mention it, yeah, it's pretty amazing. I love how far you can see things in gameplay videos too, like Duscae rock formations while still in Leide (IIRC).

It gives you a good sense of progression, and things to look forward to.

So is the g silent in Cleigne? I've been wondering how the hell that's pronounced, lol. Whenever I see it my mind goes straight to this[/IMG]

I think so, yeah.

But I'm still not sure about the correct pronunciation of Duscae. I've heard Das Kay before, and I think it sounds so weird, but weird names in Final Fantasy become the most likely option.

Its absolutely logical that not all of Altissia is available to explore, that would be way too much and frankly it wouldnt add a lot. But the least we can expect is that Altissia will be large enough to immerse us completely in the setting. It has to be large with a lot of things to see and do, but it doesnt have to be massive.

Like you, i really need cities in FFXV to be there ready to explore a considerable part of them. I swear i might break a controler if Altissia is nothing but a cutscene and a few small areas like the Platinum Demo... that would suck as hell...

Well so far we've seen, the docks, the lil castle room or whatever with the picture and the women coming out of it, the lil restaurant, the Colosseum and alil more walking. All could very well be small areas but given Altissia got its own lil trailer and one of the few cities in the game I'm hopeful.

I don't think the cities themselves are what will disappoint ppl I think it's going to be the fact there aren't alot.

I don't think an entire city needs to be explorable to convey a sense of scale, but at least enough of it. Total explorable areas like Lindblum and Academia are more than sufficient, really. Too much and it's just a bunch of redundant streets that are pretty to look at.

It's always a pain to explain pronounciation with the pretty much non-phonetic English language. In other langauges, such as Italian, Latin, Spanish or German it is so much easier to explain. But I'll try:
"Doos-kuh-ay"
In the gameplay videos the guy on the radio (before Luna was speaking) also pronounced Tenebrae like this:
"Ten-ay-bruh-ay"

Edit:
The "ay" is supposed to sound like a normal Latin "e". :/

What sounds wrong? Tenebrae was literally pronounced "Ten-ay-bruh-ay" in the game by the radio guy in the car. If you also know a little bit of Latin and it's pronounciation you know how it is pronounced. Tenebrae and Duscae are clearly derived from Latin.

I've always incorrectly pronounced it Doos-KAY.

But given that the AE in Tennebrae is pronounced like High, I'm guessing the correct pronounciation is duh-SKY.

Edit: But, I'm gonna stick with Doos-Kay. Like I stick with Tie-dus. and SEE-sil

As far as I know your initial pronounciation is way closer to the actual pronounciation. XD

But It is literally impossible to transfer these names into English pronounciation because English isn't a phonetic language. Latin, Japanese, Italian etc. names are always completely butchered in English. No offense! ;)

Yeah, at a certain point it just becomes annoying if a city's too large. On the flip side, if it was something like Val Royeaux in DA:I I'd be pissed off. You get the impression that it's supposed to be this large, grand city, but you only see a small part of it, and that's even more frustrating when you have huge, open wilderness regions. It creates a sense of imbalance. Not being able to explore much of Bevelle in FFX always bugged me as well. It's the biggest city in Spira and you barely get past the front door! That being said, I don't really expect it to be a problem with Altissia.

Honestly English makes close to no sense.

What the heck is the point of a written language with specific spellings for specific words if you're supposed to have prior knowledge on how to pronounce words anyway.

No offense taken. That's exactly why I will go ahead and pronounce them the way I damn well want to! lol.

Exactly. That's why it is always pointless to discuss how a Latin, Japanese, Italian, French, German etc. name is pronounced in English.
Just let them pronounce it how they want to. Not even the people who translate these games into English seem to care since they switch pronounciation from time to time too. XD

this is what i remember, from kingsglaive at least. i pronounced it as "ten-ah/uh-bray" until i heard luna pronounce it that way in the film.

https://youtu.be/UblcNFVVHT8?t=89 (1:30)

i've also heard duscae pronounced that way but can't remember where

Yup. Now sign language on the other hand, much more sense.

Can everyone else teleport too cause i pretty sure glasses was nowhere near noctis for that.
Hey, that's "four eyes" to you.

I'm fine with that choice. It would be kind of a bummer to try to set up follow up attacks with your party members if they had to always be next to you to pull them off, and they run around of their own volition while you are warping all over the place.

English is a mess in general, but it needs to be written somehow.
