Final Fantasy XV first 45 minute gameplay video (final build of the game)

this is what i remember, from kingsglaive at least. i pronounced it as "ten-ah/uh-bray" until i heard luna pronounce it that way in the film.

https://youtu.be/UblcNFVVHT8?t=89 (1:30)

i've also heard duscae pronounced that way but can't remember where

That pronunciation is completely in line with the Roman Latin pronunciation. If that is the way they meant for these names to be pronounced, then it would make sense that Duscae is pronounced Doo-sky (with an -oo sound instead of an -uh sound) in line with the Latin pronunciation of that combination of letters.

Its absolutely logical that not all of Altissia is available to explore, that would be way too much and frankly it wouldnt add a lot. But the least we can expect is that Altissia will be large enough to immerse us completely in the setting. It has to be large with a lot of things to see and do, but it doesnt have to be massive.

Like you, i really need cities in FFXV to be there ready to explore a considerable part of them. I swear i might break a controler if Altissia is nothing but a cutscene and a few small areas like the Platinum Demo... that would suck as hell...

I wonder if the Leviathan setpiece will make some changes to the scenery because of the destruction caused by the fight. That would be pretty interesting.

It's always a pain to explain pronounciation with the pretty much non-phonetic English language. In other langauges, such as Italian, Latin, Spanish or German it is so much easier to explain. But I'll try:
"Doos-kuh-ay"
In the gameplay videos the guy on the radio (before Luna was speaking) also pronounced Tenebrae like this:
"Ten-ay-bruh-ay"

Edit:
The "ay" is supposed to sound like a normal Latin "e". :/

Oooh, good catch with the Tenebrae pronunciation, that makes a lot of sense. Thanks.

ffxv episode desuka?

Falk pls

Prompto is my favorite after watching, the photography and his personality are just hilarious.

Watching his epsisode of the anime will probably boost his popularity even more:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cji-L0hu1Io

So far he's just the most rounded and likable character. I hope they manage to bring this across in the game too without knowledge of the anime.
Funny how Prompto was so unpopular in the Episode Duscae poll and now he's one of everyone's favorites. He basically switched roles with Gladio who was back then popular and now is one of the least popular.

I wonder if the Leviathan setpiece will make some changes to the scenery because of the destruction caused by the fight. That would be pretty interesting.
I hope not. :( I want Altissia to be whole and pretty for the complete game. I hate when cities are destroyed in games...

When I first started following this game (after ED came out, saving me from 10 years of torture), I thought Prompto was the most annoying thing ever. But I made a few posts out there saying that as much as I can't stand that dude, I bet once I get to know him, I'll "get it" and he'll end up being my favorite.

And that's exactly what happened. It was mostly his Brotherhood episode. I get him. I get why Noctis keeps him around. He's the ultimate "best friend" type. And now all those things I used to think were annoying, I find them endearing. I'm actually really looking forward to the photography part of this game, too. That was a really neat touch.

You know what, I'd usually agree with this kind of opinion, but as far as Prompto is concerned, I hope they don't give a shit about people who didn't watch the anime. I want him freaking out about meeting Luna, even if it seems completely random to people who didn't watch it >_<

That is, of course, assuming that quirk of his was planned the whole way through, and not something made up for the anime after his dialogue was already written in the game.

that map is the complete map? or its just a part of it?

Seems like around 30% of the full map. You unlock the map by regions, Cidney only gives you the map of Lucis.

So versus started where XV ends now, right?
The 2013 trailer showed Altisia getting demolished by Leviathan right?

Have they shown areas that will no longer be playable after certain events happens in the story?

I can only think of one incident where they showed a goblin lock a door to a mine (thus not being able to enter ever again)

It really , really sucks , when locations change in RPGS and preventing you from ever getting a crucial weapon,
or item that could potentially cause you build a weapon or loose a throphy or even a full character ( I'm sorry shadow, I really am,
you where my favorite character and I lost you)

I still have childhood scars about that. (worst yet I found out that you could have save him like 10 years later)

anyhow, My 50 cents are tha Altisia wont be explorable after the Leviathan fight.

Eh... I might be wrong, but the Goblin closing the door was not so that the player won't be able to explore the cave anymore, but rather to force them so they have to find alternate routes around the blockage?

That's about 30% of it, based on comments.

Just the first continent.

BTW, anyone notice they changed it from "Map of Lucis" to "Map of continent" in the new footage?

Yeah, I did. Terrible decision, imo. You want the player to be familiar with the game's world and lore, and these little touches help with that. You receive a Map of Lucis, you don't know what the fuck is Lucis, you open the map, now you know. If it's called Map of the Continent, you still have no idea what the fuck is Lucis when you hear it for the first time.

Yeah, I wonder about the damage the Leviathan fight will do to the city because of the 2013 trailer. I don't expect the real thing to be as elaborate as that trailer, but they'll definitely try to reproduce it to some extent, I think.

The goblin thing is just a little shortcut, though, you unlock it later on from the other side. That was just to prevent you from starting the dungeon from the last floor in an organic way, without just giving you a prompt of "you can't go there yet".

Agreed. My guess is it's meant to be a tease that there's more than one continent, but I'm hoping they change it back prior to release. Not a huge deal or anything, but I prefer Lucis.

Will the outcry about the visuals result in GAF at its most mind-numingly hyperbolic?

Don't think I've ever seen such a massive turnaround in opinion between "doomed, worst thing ever" to "omg amazing"

To be fair, SE has done a great job at improving the IQ.

Do not forget the game used to look like this:

Pretty sure later in that demo they showed the player getting to that door from the other side and unlocking it again, so yeah.

Sometimes that's the best way to go into something. I went into TLoU not even knowing what genre it was, and it blew me away.

HAHA, yeah, its all a matter of expectations...and for me, I have zero expectations. Just curious as to what Square puts out there.

The game getting delayed was something it really needed and we're all better for it.

1. The team getting some breathing room to work on it more
2. Players with shitty internet who wont have to deal with a giant patch
3. And everyone who wont run into game breaking bugs.

An open world game like this will have glitches but this will be polished by the time it comes out.

Yup, it was the best decision they could've made.

4. People who want to fire the game up 5 years from now while somewhere without an internet connection won't be subject to the old master version forever.

I mean, really, if they didn't delay it, the discs would be nothing more than keycodes for the digital download. Definitely the right move.

All your points are valid, but regarding #2, I am guessing there will be an additional significant day one patch.

There will almost certainly be a day 1 patch, but the disc version will still be perfectly playable. That's hugely important in and of itself for a multitude of reasons.

Yup that's the best thing about it day on patch or not at least now the game won't crash(hopefully)looks better etc if someone unfortunately doesn't have internet.

They have showed 5 dungeons to us so far. The first one with the spider lady, the ice cave, the goblin's cave from episode duscae, the mines and the one from twitch con. I'm not that worried.

There is also one with moving walls. Not sure if you factored that one into the list since the mines one I'm not familiar with.

fuuuuuck prompto is actually super cool

brotherhood episode was the perfect backstory for him!

I always found Prompto's over-the-top-ness annoying, then I actually started liking him a bit after watching his Brotherhood episode, even though I though the conflict/motivation was kinda strange....... But then I realized I'm kinda doing a similar thing with someone I know... Welp, how can I not appreciate him under those circumstances

Yep, the game breaking bugs would be kill any wom some glitches are fine since there expected.

Honestly more games needed a delay this year for a bit more polish:

Brotherhood in general is great, though I thought the Ignis ep was a bit weak. Still, definitely get a better sense for their characters and background.
early adopter of Noct/Iris pairing

Oh I am sure there will still be a patch but it wont be as massive as it would have been.
Most of what they wanted to take care of is done so any patches will be doable for those with spotty internet.

Mafia 3 really needed more time but I wont lie and say these glitches and bugs aren't hilarious.

Great to see the delay seems to have helped performance. I really hope the narrative is good or at the very least comprehensible. I tried playing through 13 a few years ago, and man, I just could not follow what the fuck was going on--a sentiment, I think, that was compounded by the fact that every other word seemed to be made up gibberish. Here's hoping.

I actually found the sequels to be worse than XIII from a story standpoint, it was much more nonsense than XIII could ever muster.

eh, did I watch the same episode?
Fat kid who wants to be cool like noctis gets into shape for that reason?
And goes around sniffing a letter. I love prompto character in FFXV, but his backstory was very meh, imo...To be fair, my memory sucks, that episode was so forgettable I guess there was something deeper that I didn't see.

The letter sniffing thing isn't as weird as it looks. Luna is totally the kind of person who would put some kind of perfume on her letters.

But, it's not just about him losing the weight. It's all of it. It's what he's willing to go through to be he friend, and that just shows the kind of loyalty he will have. It's hard to describe in words, but it made me do a complete 180 almost by itself. And that flipped everything else along with it.

I think its an important distinction that Prompto isn't losing weight to be like Noctis but instead he is losing weight to have the self confidence to be friends with Noctis. Prompto loses weight because he has a complex about hanging out with someone who everyone deems special. Prompto doesn't think he's fit to be in his presence. So when Prompto reintroduces himself Noctis is like "don't I already know you?" since Noctis always considered him a friend. Its just that Prompto had his own shit to work through to mentally feel like he was worthy of being Noctis' friend.

and the letter sniffing thing was neat imo. it shows that him losing weight isn't transforming him into a different person, he still has his quirks and oddities

That's another good point abut Noctis, too. Noctis was shown throughout to have trouble finding someone he can be comfortable talking to, too. So, as you said, he probably always wanted to be friends with Prompto as well. Prompto ended up being the only one that could hang out with him like a person and not a Prince.

I just thought it was a really believable, special friendship. And then once I got what Noctis saw in him, I could see it too.

Could it be that the episode is lacking so much dialog on purpose
Giving the viewer some room to imagine whatever they want about prompto?

If not, than what you just said makes perfect sense.

Guys, which FF XV version will have japanese audio with english subtitles ? Certainly do not want to play with english dubbed version.
