Hang in there M_Night. There's Lightning at the end of the tunnel.

Fixed.

Come TGS during Sony's press briefing, Tabata walks on stage ready to talk about Final Fantasy XV
Episode Duscae Part II

Coming March 2016, included with Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII HD.

They'll probably finish the game faster if they scrap everything and start over on UE4. That means they'll at least have something ready to release in 2020.

I disagree, having no armor doesn't mean he wasn't ready to fight, I mean noctis and co. don't seem ready for a fight either, the thing is that Lucis instead of armor and guns has magic and they can do this:

This scene is most likely gone right? ;_;

If this scene is gone, I will be so pissed. It's easily my most anticipated scene. Great. Now I'm scared of it being scrapped, or getting remade using the game's engine due to Regis' redesign.

Why are people saying that they don't have a villain finalized? Or that they don't actually have a name for the black-haired girl? Of course they do.

I'm extremely pissed off too but that doesn't mean I'm just going to shut off my brain.

now that regis look has changed,.....of course this scene is gone.
Atleast the one we saw with the old regis

I don't understand why he had to change regis....and im scared that the future of this franchises lies in Tabatas hands (atleast to a certain degree)

So ... is this game going to actually release within the decade of it's announcement, or nah?

No way in hell.

...because he changed a character? Really?

Did Nomura doom the series when he changed Noctis' design twice, Stella's twice (before she was removed) or the bros' design once?

This is seriously getting ridiculous. The Stella/Luna situation was far more understandable than this outrage over a character design.

This was once Rufus, from Street Fighter IV:

The biggest mistake here is still the same as ever: Revealing the game so early. Multiple times, actually, it seems like even when it became FFXV they still shouldn't have revealed it.

Hell, with how early in development this shit seems, Gamescom 2015 feels like it would be a good place to announce the game for the first time.

I dearly wish someone who gives a crap about this game and has some clear sense of purpose, direction and passion could make some decisions about the game and set it in stone.

I mean I realise that big projects go through a lot of changes, but this game has to be the most needlessly expensive, indecisive, fruitless (to date) gaming design doc of all time.

It honestly feels like none of the team is excited about it or wants to be associated with it at this point.

Sure. I like both also, I just think they have reasons for changing character designs. It's not an arbitrary decision like how people are making it seem to be.

True true. It's part of the reason why people are worried that Luna is going to be more of a "damsel in distress" character than Stella was going to be. Characters are often designed to look like they fit their role in the story.

I wouldn't say "of course it's gone." It's possible to alter CGI. For instance, in that scene with Noctis and Cor at the E3 2013 trailer... if you notice, the background, which was once filled with smoke, is gone. Secondly, that stand-off scene was shown back in 2011, with just Regis and Idola and different lighting.

So if anything, I'd say they'll just alter the CGI cinematic instead of flat-out removing it. After all, they redesigned Prompto as well.

Hilarious showing off Square. I sure hope the inevitable FFXVI doesn't have all of the development hell of the other recent FF games. Can't help but feel bad for Versus XIII/XV fans, they've waited almost as long as us Shenmue fans at this point for Shenmue 3...

It honestly feels like none of the team is excited about it or wants to be associated with it at this point.

And it's starting to affect the fanbase, or at least me personally. I went from "still as excited as ever" to "not sure I even care anymore" in one day.

Nomura had already said that his and Nojima's scenario was already complete many years ago.

This is why I was so upset when Tabata announced the changes he made, if the game story and characters were not yet finished I would understand that they would need to change things to finish it, but Nomura told many magazines years ago that the characters, names, places and the main scenario were already done.

When they announced that Tabata was now the director of the game and because of the thing he said of maintaining Nomura's vision intact, I always thought of it like when a movie director gets hired to make a movie that already has a script. Now it feels like Tabata wants to make his own game but SE has forbidden him to change the main characters and some key points of Nomura's project.

UE4 most likely for sure. They are using it for KH3 and its basically the standard engine for Japan now

I think and hope it will be luminous...surely they will iron out engine issues during the development of this game? I certainly like the results when they come in. The engine can look extremely impressive, it just a pity it seems to have so many issues. I think FFXV is more ambitious visually than KH 3, even though the latter looks great as well and seems a lot more polished.

The previous design changes were tweaks in fashion, keeping with the times
and sponsor tie-ins
. This is a 180 in the juxtaposition of Lucis' modern aesthetic against the rest of the world.

Nomura's take was refreshing, but now they're taking a step back towards the status quo.

Eeeh, it really wasn't just a fashion tweak. Noctis had baby face at first, Gladio was a lot skinnier and didn't have his tattoos, Prompto changed a lot, Ignis is more or less the same, sure, Stella changed A LOT from the Kagari Stella to the 2013 Stella.

The one thing to point out between Stella and Luna is that you can already tell by stellar design that she is confident, assertive, like she could kick ass if she is given the chance, Luna is the opposite, she is seen being of maybe the worrying type, apprehensive, and by the way the trailers are set up, almost maybe a damsel in distress who needs noctis to come save, from what we have seen from characters introduced with voice actors they seem to completely fit the tropes of their characters, with the ex exception of noctis maybe not as brooding and "emo" as people originally thought l, but he could still be.

I honestly don't think they have the balls not to use UE4 the next go around.

UE4 most likely for sure. They are using it for KH3 and its basically the standard engine for Japan now

My thinking too. FFVII remake is likely UE4 and with KH3 being UE4 and showing nice progress, I think SE should stick with it from now on if it can get them the results quickly. They can be such a productive publisher, but this whole idea of developing a game while developing an new high tech engine doesn't seem to mesh with them. Look at what happened with FFXIII and what is happening with FFXV.

Wasn't there a tonne of content cut from XIII too? As in, towns etc. And it wasn't meant to be anywhere near as linear as it ended up being.

Oh, you meant people

No, I meant chicken sandwiches.

It was a flashback. Do you remember the Jump Festa trailer? The Regis design we've come to be familiar with is still in the game.

Here's the trailer in case you forgot. Look at the :23 second mark.

Welcome to every thread for this game ever on NeoGAF.

He still looks like this! They just showed that trailer at December 2014.

Old Regis design is still valid.

See JF trailer.

etc

lol...im not referring to the regis change, when i say im scared for this franchise
Im scared because im not really confident in Tabata delivering with this title, after what i saw this year & after playing type 0
And if FF15 doesn't deliver.....i don't want to think about it

The new trailer from the other thread got me hyped for this game.

This news has me thinking just cancel it already, as irrational as that seems. The wait for this game has been rediculous. I wished SE would have just announced it cancelled, and then just surprise us with it in year 202X.
