Final Fantasy XV Gamescom Active Time Report - CNN reporting live from disaster scene

Good to know they're making up the plot as they go along

What the fuck at no primary villain?

Now I'm legit worried

So we're expecting the rest of this event to be pretty uninformative. Anybody want to start making bets about whether or not we'll get anything substantial at PAX or TGS? My guess is PAX will be a repeat of this event at best, and TGS might be more substantial. No longer expecting the release date this year.

Her name is Nullum Nolem.
Could be Pushmi Pullyu.

There was incredible symbolism for his name. He enjoyed the female posterior, Lenna's and Farris'. More like Harem Fantasy, amiright?

Joking aside, It amazes me that they don't have a name for her. I would imagine if she was important enough to show in previous trailers, that she at least has a name and set role. So it just sounds like they have a character design that they have to slot into a role eventually.

Being an artist for as long as I could remember and a writer of many fanfics and original stories since jr high, it confounds me how you can have a character designed, visually, and hold some significance to the story(or they wouldn't have featured her in the trailer), yet not have a name for her. Solely talking about myself, when I create a character(others might agree), I think about their significance, their backstory and relations to the plot and other characters, and visualize their look. But, I also come up with the name early on because I know other characters are going to have to refer to that character by name. Naming a character isn't hard, unless you wanna be pretentious, but that's not hard either(just open Google up and search some symbolic term, and you're good to go).

From February the game has gone from 60% complete to 65% complete. 5% in 6 months, so a 2016 release is extremely unlikely.

That's not how that works, which is exactly why any sort of completion percentage comments should go ignored. They're made purely to placate the ignorant.

Really.

Then maybe they should stop making PR for themselves and focus their PR/Marketing on the fans.

PR/marketing is for cosumers. Hyper enthusiasts (sorry, "fans") are going to buy the product 9 times out of 10 regardless of how much they whine about things like this on a forum because that's just what fans do. /shrug.

/dead. How can you promote the same boring trailer 3 times at 3 different conventions in two months? Who is handling this PR? Because this is terrible. Goodbye 2015.

EDIT: I can't believe they're not even trying at TGS. Not even a small, PROPER story trailer of something else? No magic? No gameplay? WTF!

People loved to shit on XIII and act like FFXV was some great white hope that would "save the franchise"

... now its looking like FFXIII will be the last decent FF if this trend continues.

I'm enjoying it to say the least.

I'm playing Lighting Returns demo for the first time and the combat is surprisingly fun. Just based on the demo alone she has great depth and character. I might rent FFXIII to see why is considered "bad". On the Lightning Train!

Nothing new at either? Holy crap. That's truly pathetic.

I just watched the ATR. They'll be having new stuff at each event.

We can deduce that they won't have much shown in PAX Prime though compared to TGS. That's obvious. While they are bringing the teaser to other shows they are also bringing new footage.

The thing is, you can elicit a much better reaction from each show if the trailer wasn't so...weird.

If that Malboro clip is anything to go by, it'll only be "new" in the most technical sense.

The trailer is not the kind that builds hype. It might add to excitement or intrigue once we knew more, but as it stands, it's entirely inappropriate for their stage of marketing. I can't understand using it more -_-

Anyways "new footage" is questionable. How much exactly? Ugh.

Seems he's updated on that: https://twitter.com/voleur5

Rin@ATR
TBT: DAWN trailer + gameplay footage to show development progress and XV's various areas.

Rin@ATR
So not just standalone DAWN trailer. There'll be more footage, everyone! #FF15

okay i was real worried for a sec. Please let them actually show something worth showing next time though. Still trailer is awful at this point in time.

Yeah, but it's PAX Prime with TGS weeks away. I wouldn't expect anything else.

If they show that mess at TGS, then I don't even know.

...the joke being... ah, nevermind :)

3 more weeks until Pax, then another 1 week until TGS seems like a really short time span to polish up and capture lengthy footage though... I'm expecting more of just short snippets.

Lightning has no depth. She is a one note character through and through.

False. She definitely has some development in FFXIII

It ended in the sewers under hopes hometown when they encountered the Falcie there. And that was all she got for the rest of the of the trilogy. I can even tell the exact moment when she stopped developing entirely. It was completely mishandled

I hate how she (and the story in general) was handled in the sequels, but I overall thought she was generally fine in FFXIII. Her development from the beginning through the mid parts of the game is apparent for anyone who payed attention to the story. Her character arc was most prominent in first half, but I don't think it's that much of a negative that she didn't have too noticeable of a change throughout the rest of the game. The last sections still felt satisfying to me because I liked seeing how her general dynamic with the group changes after her main character arc is through.
dat smile at the end tho

It's weird how a trailer can raise my optimism in the story of the game while at the same time losing any faith in marketing this thing properly.

Unless they are already preparing stuff and that is why Gamescom was so light on new info. At least that is what I hope...

The constant dying during battle is worrisome. They should ramp down the difficulty somewhat. It's quite telling that the last thing you see in new gameplay footage is Noctis dying. :|

All you parents out there should consider yourselves lucky. I can't wait to have a child so I can enjoy everything this game will have to offer.

I will name him Genisis Rhapsodiddie if a boy or Aeriths if a girl.
