I enjoyed the game, but the strings of brilliance you can see throughout the game that just never were expanded on (due to whatever reason) is just sad.
They had (and to an extent have) a solid world and baseline story...They just didn't execute on it for shit...expect the "bros." But even then, they could have done more.
EDIT: and ya know...one of the most accurate "bro" part (and it was not really focused on in the game) was when you get back to World of Ruin and Talcot says...Yeah, they pretty much fight alone most of the time, but they do fight together from time to time.
This is EXACTLY how bros are from your youth in my experience. Thinking of my own bros, it felt exactly right. While all of us are off doing our own thing (and successful), we do get together and it feels exactly the same. Almost like a day hadn't passed since the last time the group was fully together.
Im not sure if it was on purpose or not, but it was exceedingly good IMO.
