Final Fantasy XV SPOILER THREAD

Got no choice on that one cause my UCE shipped I think haha! Just got an email from UPS with a delivery date and a description that matches it.

Now what to do with it! Still don't know if I want to play the game now after all this
disappointment. Kind of. It got a bit better.

Walk with Noctis and Luna to the end of their journey.

I'm #TeadSadEnding. FFX ending redeemed the game for me and X-2 never happened in my book.

It's going to be the end of Mass Effect 3 all over again. Now we need an extended cut DLC.

I actually prefer maybe we missed a hidden cutscene after Noctis KO Ardyn inside the dimension that connects it to wedding.

If the continuation from that scene is the scene from chapter 1, sounds like they went back to time.

Do you guys play Shadow Hearts Covenant? Do you remember the ending?

That would be real nice. I'd be glad with that.

And no I never played Covenant unfortunately. Wish I did but I couldn't afford it back then.

Does Lunar or any of your part die?
Luna(r) Yes.
Party Maybe? Probably?

Well I'd be lying if I said I didn't love dark endings, so hearing that everyone just straight up fucking dies at the end actually made me a bit more interested in the story lol

I like the idea behind the ending, I just don't really love the execution of it in-game.

I also still really need Coleman advertising edits on all the FF endings!

Urgh, yep. I'm still baffled the basic ending of X-2 is the best ending thematically. The rest are just awful and didn't happen la la la la

So how much of the game was actually streamed? I caught up to the beginning of chapter 2 before it got shut down on twitch and then just the last fight today that was streamed on YouTube

Why are people complaining about the ending? I haven't seen it but I've seen pics and just know that everyone dies and that there's a "Titanic" like scene afterwards. If people just watch the ending for ANY game without playing through it and without knowing the full context of it of course it's gonna seem lackluster. You're not gonna feel any emotional attachment to the story or characters because you haven't played it! It's about the journey as much as the outcome. Personally I love Titanic's ending scene(that shit was beautiful *tear*) so I'm looking forward to it lol.

I have some reasons, but it's midnight over here and I'm not gonna be able to post my thoughts without losing my train of thought haha! Maybe tomorrow.

Let's just say that 10 years did a lot for my expectations for now.

Personally, my gripe is ending the game and final boss (Which was pretty lackluster in and of itself) with a QTE on two separate occasions. I expect more from a 10 year wait :(

I think it's fair some people prefer to see the characters live happily ever after after all the shits they went through. Only those who skipped Chapter 2-14 to watch the ending and proceeded to complain the ending kills off the characters 'they didn't care enough' were being ridiculous.

It's entirely possible you can go an entire game and still not get invested in the cast. FF8 was like that for me. Incidentally written by the same person wasn't it?

Of course it's possible but you wouldn't know that until you play through the game which 99% of people here haven't.

Then these people are as reasonable, but I doubt anyone in this thread has done it yet. We didn't even have a complete stream from the beginning to the end and we were told a lot of the story was presented through bros' conversation.
I'd even say if people wanted to get invested in the ending they should have avoided this thread because now their experiences are going to be plagued with the reminder that these characters are going to die.

The memory loss reveal ruined FF8 for me so I'm not the best person to defend it heh

The boss fight isn't like that, it's just the end part which is 'dramatic' QTE hits.

Won't stop the shitposting tho.

Watched parts of the final battle and the ending. Seemed to be quite decent, at least there was no logic fallout that XIII had. Some reactions here seem a little harsh.

I have such mixed thoughts on the game. Let me first say I'm not exactly a Final Fantasy die-hard, the only entries I've played in the series are the "odd entries" (I've played all the Crystal Chronicles games, I played Final Fantasy III on the DS, I've played Final Fantasy X-2, I've played XIII & XIII-2, and I've played a bit of XIV), but with RPGs I'm so picky with them due to how much time they take up. There's something about XV I really love, and that's its kind of 'road movie' vibe. I love some of the touches in the game, for me some of the most exciting footage is simply stopping by at gas stations, exploring things off of the road, and what I've heard of the soundtrack so far is fantastic.

But to me it seems there's some major nitpicks and issues I have with what I've seen from what's been shown. Some of the design decisions just seem... Questionable at best?

I'm debating if I should pick this up or wait a bit further down the line, there's things I like how they look a lot, and other things I'm not so certain about. I'm very interested to see how this game goes down with critics and fans, however.

I'm also curious how others are processing everything? I haven't super closely followed the game or looked at all the spoilers or anything, what is people's take here, both fans and more passive interest folks from everything?

Hmm... I like these types of boss battles. A 1v1 with someone who is human or humanoid. Just need an in-depth description of the combat now. Assuming there is more to it than what the latest demo on JP PSN gave us.
