Final Fantasy XV SPOILER THREAD

Sure but they dontmake it so obvious that the development is such a cluster fluck that they retroactively put it into the game via patch yanno?
I do know. It makes this game look quite a patchwork mess from the outside.

To be fair, it seems the Omen and Kingsglaive parts wouldn't fit on the disc? So that's kinda of an interesting way to stretch your available capacity via patch. And patches are meant to improve games... it just seems more egregious because we don't usually see "story" updates.

It was apparently thrown in as a nightmare Noctis had randomly, it wasn't really leading from anywhere, he just wakes up and then that's it.

Can you imagine the weirdness of this? A promotional trailer from before release made and marketed as a concept based on the FF15 story, suddenly gets injected into the game(presumably because of the positive user reception to it)

That is.... really weird. Why put something like that into the game when Noctis was never in danger of harming Luna in the first place?

Nope not at all. That old dude only has 1 line and doesn't affect the story at all. It's possible he shows up in one of the optional Niflheim base invasions but in the main story he doesn't come out and it's for sure not hinted he's related to Prompto. Hell no one ever though Prompto would be from Niflheim, people thought at most it would be Ignis cause of his accent.

Wow . . . I don't even know what to say to that. I mean, why make them related if it doesn't hold any importance to the story?

Cause flashy CGI is cool after all.

I 100% get where your coming from with that sentiment.

Maybe it did hold a significance to the story at one time, but that plotline was cut and or dropped like a lot of others? And they didn't think to clean it up so that it wasn't a clear sticking point?

That sounds right. I do wonder why certain plotlines were cut out, though.

development issues, time constraints, clear issues that they have to deal with just to save time costs or avoid more effort than neccesary when working under super stressful conditions..

Why do you fight ghost mom 3 times in Bio infinite in clear signs of padding, why does jeramiah fink suddenly stop being relevant halfway through the game, and contrived 'worm hole' writing become more prominent? Why does songbird never actually do anything in the game outside of one sequence in the end ect?

I would not be surprised if the higher ups at SE basically told Tabata's team sometime last year "you have till the end of 2016" so they had to scramble and just put whatever they could together in that time, and anything that did not fit or work in their streamlined environment got scrapped.

Is Ghost Regis in the game? That's the one thing from the 4chan leaks that I haven't seen at all. Maybe it was cut.

He does show up the finale cutscene, when Noctis is being stabbed by the kings. Regis delivers the final blow, if I remember correctly? He's also there when Noctis takes down Ardyn in the afterlife. (Not sure if 'afterlife' is the correct term, don't know what else to call it?)

I almost straight up just quit playing the game in Chapter 13. Jesus fucking Christ what a slog.

Before that, a train section done terribly and before that an epic failure of an "epic" boss fight with Leviathan and before that an utterly useless city.

This game kept getting worse after the open world section. It is very clear that this game had a rough development.

Some people thought it was her based on the close-up of Bahamut's eyes.

That + Gentania = Shiva made me think other "humans" were also summons; also Areana being a Dragoon.

What is Chaper 13 about? What happens or what are you doing during it? You're not the first person to say that about 13 is why I ask.

Square should've hired me to do the Titan fight. Well, they could hire anyone who has the ability to hold the defend button. I wasn't hit once and the battle wasn't that bad. Have Ramuh too now. Chapter 3 onward are better than the first few.

So summons come randomly or do you have to equip something? Haven't seen them yet.

okay type fast i get it

i meant to say i had no faith in tabi to get this game jusitice it desarve

Tabata was always "the fixer". The "Mr. Wolf". The guy you bring in to get the job done. That means cutting corners and ripping up all the wilder dreams... just deliver a game that could be called "a good RPG" regardless of whether it actually delivered on all the promises made.

We have no idea how much control he eventually had in being able to do what he maybe originally wanted to do

We just don't know. I think that blaming Tabata alone for these circumstances would be the wrong thing to do.

All we know is that things turned out not clean at all.

yeah i know but the main blame will be directed toward tabata though even though that not fair it mostly like to happen

You lose your bros and all your weapons for about 90% of the chapter.
Game turns into a corridor stealth/horror done very badly. It all feels like padding and the section really overstays its welcome.

I wonder what all of the fan service in Kingsglaive was about regarding certain monster appearances. Ultros (FF 6), Diamond Weapon (7), and Cerberus (8), and perhaps others I missed. While it was pretty freaking cool, it all seemed weird for them to just show up in the movie randomly. I am well aware FF reuses monsters through generations but Ultros and Diamond Weapon were both very specific to their respective games.

As an aside, if there's not an Ultima weapon in the form of a sword, enemy, or magic, I'm going to be upset :(

Edit - huh, was not aware Ultros had so many other appearances in FF. XII, XIII-2, IV After Years, and FF1 Dawn of Souls. Color me purple

There is an Ultima weapon as a Sword.

I can't say much since I haven't played it yet but it seems like Nomura's vision but butchered would've been better than Tabata's re-imagining of Nomura's concepts.

I strongly believe that "Nomura's vision but butchered" is exactly what we got in this game.

I don't think much of tabata's own concepts for the game really were pulled across in this game, let alone anything nomura had originally wanted to do.

It feels like the project went in a direction through multiple reasons that really doesnt represent anyone on it. It has an identity crisis that doesn't fully establish what it even is or wants to be.

i don't think tabata would have shipped a game with so many weird loose ends and convenient bullshit if he could help it

this is why i feel like development troubles and deadlines were primarily the factor that led to this kind of result

then why the change was needed in the first place but it funny saying this nomura vision but butchered when nomura name isn't in the credits

I don't think Tabata had the luxury of implementing his own concepts in the first place. The game's plot feels like an abridged, incomplete, T-rated, butchered version of what the Versus trilogy was intended to be.

You can pinpoint many of the ideas that's originated from Versus easily if you played the game. The kings of Lucis are the fal'cie, Noctis is a L'cie, the ring is something Nomura talked about 7 yeas ago, the Prompto being from Nifelheim thing was hinted on many years ago, with him using guns and all. Then you have the endless night (which is mentioned in Somnus's lyrics) and the "Noctis sleeps for 10 years" thing which fits directly with the sleeping motif that was very present in Versus, and not so much in XV.

I strongly believe the overall plot of the game didn't differs a lot from Versus in XV, it's just a very abridged, fucked up version of it.
