Final Fantasy XV SPOILER THREAD

As Kagari says the logo was originally etro. But since they removed all trace of FNC from this game, the logo just represents Luna in that specific position, hence noctis taking a spot after the end

I thought they switched the goddess from Etro to whatever goddess is seen in that one artwork?

Anyways, can't want to know what they say about this game in the Ultimania.

Does the game have superbosses/ultimate weapons and such?

This is what I wanna know too. The stream had the guy open his mission list when he opened his post-game save, but I'm wondering how much of that was stuff that could have been completed before the game ended.

Is anything added post-game?

What I know now more than anything else is that Square Enix are in need of better writers.

It's become more apparent as I've gotten older. Ever since voice acting was introduced to the series with FFX, the writing and directing in every game have had the oddest tonal inconsistencies. With FFXII being a series hilight. It's sort of frustrating, honestly. It's not completely horrible, it just feels sloppy.

It feels like a lot has been left on the cutting room floor from the rewrites. Some characters seem completely shallow when compared to others. I was hoping the Niflheim characters would have more depth to them, but instead come off like cartoon villains.

Ardyn's motivations were completely unconvincing. I couldn't understand his reasoning or sympathize with him at all. With such an anticlimactic final battle on top of that.

Also, Luna being the sleeping figure in the logo is totally bullshit haha. That logo existed years before Luna was even a thought, let alone an actual character. I mean c'mon now.

That is still one of the most disappointing things about XV to me. I wish it was still part of Fabula Nova Crystalis. I was always interested in seeing Versus XIII's take on the mythology.

Because it was originally Etro.

I knew that but wtf is the rest of the stuff supposed to be on the logo and does any of it have anything to do with the game? I feel like they should've at least kept those elements in. It was actually pretty cool to see XIII's ending and see "wow the ending was the logo" with this one I am still confused about what the logo is supposed to represent. Luna sleeping is pretty damn lame.

How does everyone feel about the final boss?

Happy with it! As I said before, every JRPG features a "transforms to giant monster with angel wings" final boss and I just played one with the same thing. So it's nice to see a final boss that is just two (super powered) dudes beating each other down in the ruins of a dead city.

It feels really shoe horned in.

At this point I feel like I would've been happier if the concepts from Versus were just killed off and 15 was its own completely independent thing.

Guys...i get your disappointed but what did you expect? we knew this game was gonna be a frankenstein even though a lot of us hoped otherwise.

Tabata had an impossible task, and the amount of rewrites and redos and editing and cutting all the way down to the wire were probably very extreme just to get the game out.

They cut out the entire original beginning and rewrote it as a movie just so it didn't take up development time for the game any more than it already was.

Again, this game was always going to be a mess in this specific way.

The real question is, playing the game from start to finish on your own time, if your someone who has never seen a thing about the development of Versus or this game, are you going to notice those inconsistencies?

How does everyone feel about the final boss?

Meh. He didn't seem like much of a challenge either, just Noctis beating away on him without having to heal all that much. And unlike everyone else in here, I was disappointed by the music as well, Shimomura tossing in the choir, the orchestra and everything else but the kitchen sink but not doing all that much interesting with all those resources. I greatly prefer Hamauzu's use of extended harmonies.

Can anybody post the pictures of the ending wedding scenes? Particularly panning at Noctis in his new outfit/groom suit. I missed it because of work. Thanks.

After my initial surprise, I have to agree here.

I mean, the Logo still works enough for me to be fine with it. Luna, with the moon behind her, and what looks to be Leviathan beside her. Can't really explain the wing however, possibly cuz she ded.

I agree with you. JRPG final bosses always end up being encounters with multiple forms and transformations. This was refreshing and still had the level of insanity of flying through the city with our magic swords.

Guess I'll be the only one that's thinking like this right now but if you take it out by itself, I loved it. Music was amazing and the one on one between the two "kings" was reminiscent of The Lion Ling. Also Hamlet in a way. Plus the transitions in the city reminded me of the battle between Neo and Smith in the Matrix Revolutions.

But with the game, I would have like more forms of Ardyn before this one. Like Kingdom Hearts 2. Maybe like: Ardyn at the throne with all the bros facing him off and him being all lazy like he knows he is going to win; then to a beast form or something like that that is more grand in scale, to another form, and then to the battle between him and Noctis themselves. I would have liked that more. But for me that's just a small nitpick.

Please don't kill me guys it's just my opinion!

I was surprised because...I'm always expecting it. When I saw Ardyn's design the first time, I was like "I wonder what his angel winged final form will be?"

Also, unsure of where Chapter 0 fits in.

The end scene flowing into the logo looked cool, who cares who it originally was. Maximum nitpick.

Because the logo usually represents something really important in the game. This logo doesn't seem to do that at all actually. Especially when we know for a fact that it wasn't designed to mesh into the story how it does. It just a really cheap and shitty way to make it fit where it doesn't.

It doesn't. The only lead up to it is Ardyn saying Ifrit doesn't like humans like Shiva does, and that he will be waiting for Noct. Unless Ifrit has a bigger role in earlier parts of the game.

What loose ends remained at the end of XIII?

Well, the fact that everyone from Cocoon now had to live in a very dangerous environment was kind of a big issue. I mean, the ending isn't bad at all; it just ended with hope (pun) that was ruined by the events of FFXIII-2.

Now FF12....

I'm glad you mentioned Chapter 0. After seeing how that played out in the game Chapter 0 was a stupid idea.

At this point I feel like I would've been happier if the concepts from Versus were just killed off and 15 was its own completely independent thing.
Had Versus XIII got the same deal as Type-0, and was rebranded as another experimental spin off instead of a mainline entry, I think the original concepts would have been left in tact.

Oh well, at least we can finally move forward to Final Fantasy XVI.

How are all these Cocoon people going to survive in the wild without technology to coddle them?
How did Dajh and Serah revive?
Why did fang and vanille both turn into ragnarok when Dysley said only 1 l'cie would turn?
What happened to Hope's father and Rydea?

These are just some of the questions I had after beating the game.
I'll keep this short because it's the XV thread, but this scene addresses your Dysely/Barthandelus question.
Basically one of them can transform on their own (which Fang does, and Dysley/Barthandelus assumes would be enough to kill Orphan and bring down Cocoon), but as just one person transforming, Ragnarok's power isn't enough (and Fang doesn't let Vanille do it to protect her). One of them turned and it wasn't enough to make a difference. With two of them, they were able to summon Ragnarok's true form and bring about the end of the game's events. Because of how dire the situation was at the end of the game, they both sacrificed themselves to save everyone by summoning Ragnarok's true form, which required two people (much like what happened with the war before the game).

I'll give ya that. The sequel definitely didn't go in the direction I thought it would though, lol. I was happy with our cast's story closure.

Is it? I tuned in during the final boss, so I missed it.

Was it Ifrit then? Or something else?
It was Ifrit. They get to the palace and Ardyn does an Agent Smith and is like "Mr. Noctis it's good to see you again We've been expecting you." Then he summons Ifrit and it's basically the complete chapter 0 fight.

Seriously. The more I think about Ardyn's boss fight, the more I like it. Amazing music, Ardyn taunting you, soaring through ruined Insomnia.....

Yeah. I dig it.
