Final Fantasy XV SPOILER THREAD

Type-0 gave plenty of time to care about Class Zero, it's just that pretty much all of them were just archetypes that had very little substance to care about.

A few more things from my reviewer friend:

Ardyn is a great villain

Game has good level of challenge throughout

Reviewer had high hopes, they were met (game is really good)

You can go back to do optional stuff from chapter 9 on

Linearity after chapter 8 isn't bad at all, just different. Besides, you can go back after chapter 9.

At least one side quest only unlocks after you clear the game

Iedolas isn't in the game much, heavy focus on Ardyn

Appears to be a bunch of optional bosses. There are also optional dungeons, dunno how many.

Any comments on how much of Tenebrae you get to play and explore?

That is also an explanation, i just thought the individual nature of the stories essentially just make them disconnected in a lot of ways and unable to really be invested in as well.

I just tell him Saber is a futa tbh.

Type-0 ending was really good in my opinion, but that's mostly because how good the song from Bump of Chicken was in that end credits. Without it, it would have been much weaker.

The ending song to CC was also...pretty good, but i thought they could have done without the post credits scene and the flashback stuff, just show a black screen, it doesn't have to be super bombastic

You said this reviewer friend was well known and respected, correct? By that, do you mean they make reviews for a well known site like IGN, Gamespot, etc.?

That is correct. I've sent Kagari proof of our conversations.

Argh...I keep telling myself to watch this show but then I remember that there are so many series connected to it...plus I stumbled upon a doujinshi back when I had no idea what any of rhythm meant and it ruined the entire games/shows for me...

Fate Zero first then Fate Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works(the show not movie).

All there is to it.

Apologies if this has been asked but are there any trophies/content linked to difficulty setting? I'd love to play this game on the hardest setting but the older I get, the less time I have to sit and grind for things lol.

Ignis, Gladio, and Prompto died, right, as they were with Regis/Noctis/KotR vs. Ardyn? I'm surprised there wasn't some kind of cutaway to them fighting/sacrificing themselves with the Iron Giants as Noctis was on the throne being stabbed by the kings. The three of them are with you for the entire game, and the whole game is built and advertised on the brotherhood between the four men. (You know, one of the reasons we didn't get a permanent female party member, cough-cough.) The Omen trailer concerns what would happen if the trio weren't around to support Noctis. I don't mind them dying - I quite like it, in fact - but to have the three of them die offscreen in an almost nondescript manner seems like a bizarrely wasted opportunity, especially considering the player punch it could have had. All go down together, etc. I'm genuinely a bit baffled how it was handled, I really hadn't thought they'd died at first.

The execution of the ending doesn't do a lot for me, but I will say that my favorite imagery from the game is Noctis on the throne being stabbed by the kings, with Regis at the end. Brutal. Annnnnnd then the ending turns into Lightning Returns MK. II, sigh.

I'm usually quite understanding about the necessary evil of product placement, but it's quite hilariously predominant in two of the game's big final scenes. It ruins the moment a bit. I really do need product placement Coleman edits for the endings of the other FF games.

Ah yes everyone dies. The bros did appear when Noctis summoned knights of the round

Are we certain about that? They do appear with him in the "beyond" or whatever, but maybe that has something to do with their Kingsglaive bond?

It just seems odd to me that they would just die based on the dialogue between them and Noctis following the Ardyn fight.

Zero and then Night?
Is this Rin?
If so she is the reason why I don't really want to watch it since the doujinshi was shaming her. Ahh I hate those books!!!

I'll PM you, we should not derail the thread.

They knew what was going to happen, that's why he left them to do his final duty. Its not hard.

People need to come to grips, there is no alternate timeline multiverse stuff going on here.

They got offed in what is supposed to be an emotional end.

I get that it may not seem well put together, but that's different from what the writers are intending to get across.

The idea of the logo change is actually quite amazing and if it was done well it could have been a 'gasp' moment like when you realize what the logo of XIII actually means but it looks so weird because Noctis looks tacked on at the last minute.

Yeah liked the ending but not how everyone that matters to Noctis most died offscreen, including Regis if you didn't watch Kingsglaive.

it's quite shocking how bad it looks. It just looks like a new drawing layer added in, which it was of course. But they could have at least tried harder to blend in..... I don't know..

Thank you. Thats awesome, I was worried about not having an option for this

You can also do this halfway through the game, not just after you beat it. At any moment you can go back to do more stuff in the open world. That way you don't have to worry about side content if you just want to advance the story at the moment. You won't be locked out of it for more than a few minutes until you get to some resting spot.

EDIT: beaten \/

From what I've been told you can go back in time pretty much at any point after chapter 8 or 9, can't remember which one.

EDIT2:

At least one side quest only unlocks after you clear the game

SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEIT

IT'S HAPPENING

Yeah, that's what bothers me the most about it.

The coloring of Noctis doesn't blend well with the actual logo. =/

I agree it's like Noctis is just hovering in the air it looks so weird.

I dunno..the logo was obviously something done in the moment amidst all the flurry of changes, but i dont think the design itself is so bad....i mean it does tie into the ending technically along with the original logo

I think the logo is good. It's an unexpected thing and transitioning from the in-game visuals to Amano are is a pretty brilliant idea. Also like how the title screen from then on it shown in the daytime with Noctis' theme playing. Perfect.

Crisis Core, The 3rd Birthday, Type-0, XV. Is it just me or does Tabata have some strange fascination for making RPGs where the main characters all die at the end.

I realized he made at least 2 terrible games. And as PE fan I beat 3rd Birthday about 3 times (the TPS gameplay was sort of decent for a PSP game). But that game shat on the franchise lol.

CC was good but not entirely my jam (I didn't like the randomness of the combat).

Judging by this thread it feels like people are warming up to the ending a bit. Maybe we needed to sleep on it.

The execution could have been better, but I don't think it exposes Tabata as a hack or anything. It's quite lovely and sad.

Regarding the ending, I think it's important for us to play through the game and see for ourselves how the ending fares with proper buildup and context. I remember watching the FFX ending before playing the game and thought it to be ridiculous. It's only many years later after I actually finished the game did I grow an appreciation for the ending. Perhaps it would be the same here.

One can agree or disagree on whether they like the ending or not, but it technically makes logical sense and that's really all that matters. It doesnt become incomprehensible which is not what i can say for other previous FF games, not naming any names.

Now regardless of whether the game makes logical sense or not, does that mean the writing in the game is good? Its a completely different question

IF the original logo was depicting a dying Stella, who chose to die with Noctis because they couldn't be together due to their affiliation to the gods (Mwynn vs Bhunivelze ), it would have indeed been like a Romeo and Juliet story.

I tend to believe Noctis would be with Etro (Mwynn) and Stella with Pulse (Bhunivelze).

Such potential from a FNC point of view.
