Final Fantasy XV SPOILER THREAD

Man after playing many hours of the full game now I can't take the posters that complain not serious anymore. Game is good enough you just have to take your time, listen to the people, listen to the radio, do sidequests for more story and the little bits are just good. And I was one of the people that complained about everything from the stream impressions too. I am ashamed.

my main issue with shiva as a summon is that she doesnt actually do an attack, she just freezes automatically with her presence. its not a big complaint, but its a nitpick

Nomura did say on his FF7R interview that he is not really interested in making the game open world, so we will see...
With the visual target they have in mind there's absolutely no way in hell FF7R will be open world. Not a chance.

yea I actually don't mind the design nor multiple ones grouping together, but it just end with nothing.

Yeah, I miss the days of Bahamut being an awesome looking dragon instead of the over-designed mess its been in the last few mainline games (and yes, that goes for X, too)

As it stands, I think VIII and IX have the best Bahamut designs.

Those are good

I also liked FF7CC and Type-0's

A game that is open world usually tries to check box modern open world game design at the cost of other things.

If they can make a far tighter experience while still having a great amount of explorable areas in the game, they should def go for that.

So umh, since apparently a lot of people completed the game here, can you reply to my questions? I re-post them here:
-can you switch between Easy and Normal difficulty when you want?
-can you complete optional sides and contents you left after you clear the plot?
-are there missable quests?
-is the game hard?
-are there Weapons and are they hard to defeat?

I can only give you some...

- Yes you can complete optional side quest and content after finish the main quest
- No it is easy even on normal

I don't know about the easy/normal option and I think it is a bit early to know if it has missable quests (I guess it don't)... there are superbosses in some quests but I don't know about Weapons.

Square Enix's interpretation of open world is not quite the same as that of Bethesda or Rockstar, or most western developers. From what I've seen, XV's open world is not only bounded by chapters, but they're really just huge stretches of regions that player still have to follow along in a linear progression. In that sense, it's basically taking the world map of older FF/JRPG and changing them to third person perspective, and make them scaled to your characters proportionally.

Again, I think people are applying the term "open world" to both simply non-linear and sandbox. Those two are wildly different in terms of execution.

Aka dragon age inquisition

I played a good few hours now, and its not a bad game. Graphically its fine, music is good and the gameplay is actually kind of fun. I sort of enjoy the battles and tag team moves.

The sidequests can cause a burn out which is why I stopped doing them for now. The story goes nowhere yet and the dialogues are rather bad. The best thing is the chemistry between the lead characters in the field, and this is something you can only appreciate once you play this game yourself. Prompto making pictures each day, this is about you and your 3 friends.

If you follow the story its still rather weird at times. You essentially go on a road trip and reach Hammerhead, but then you return to Insomnia after reading a newspaper headline about your dad. You won't cross the border however and don't get a glimpse of the city, you'll get called by a loyal of the King instead who confirms the news and you return to Hammerhead yet again. This is bad pacing.

I'm curious how the enemy level scaling works if you do a bunch of side quests. One of the reasons I liked VIII was the enemies level with you, so if you grind it won't really help you except in the form of additional drawn spells to junction. But early in the game you don't have very many GFs/slots to junction (and the spells are weaker) so it makes grinding early a moot point.

A couple of people on here have advised to avoid a lot of the side quests early on. Also the stream I saw of the guy who beat the game seemed to rush through it and Noct only had ~4k HP by the end and he seemed to beat it with no problem. So I am curious to see how enemy levels/scaling works.

Yeah, so far the emotional beats in this game aren't handled in the most graceful way. It's just like YOUR DAD IS DEAD and Noctis looks sad and yells a lot and there is SAD MUSIC playing and it's raining ARE YOU SAD YET. Meanwhile I'm still trying to wrap my head around the stupidity of them finding out from a newspaper.

Why do people look at newspapers? To find out information. Its not as if its wrong for them to find out this information in a newspaper as opposed to any other tool to communicate news and events. Do you have something against newspapers?

Nah FFVII won't be open world, very certain of it. They will probably include those bridge like areas (FFXII, Xillia etc) that connect the likes of Kalm and the farm as a deformed world map doesn't make sense anymore.

It is a bad scene. And the sudden rain, yeah I got it.

Cor telling them in person, for starters. Just a suggestion.

Or not scrapping the invasion of Insomnia >.>

Well i cant disagree..i wonder who actually came up with the dumb plot point of finding out in a news paper, having them go all the way back to the edge of the city, get a cellphone call and then go all the way back to hammer head again. Why not just have Cor call them from hammerhead or have Cor be IN hammerhead and giving them the information himself?

Messy messy messy

Why in the hell are there dialogue options with Bahamut.

My thought is Areana is Bahamut. Bahamut is a woman on the inside, its gotta be her.

*EDIT*

Or maybe not? I dunno

In a world with modern technology it's pretty farfetched you hear something big like this through the newspaper first.

Is there set up for bahamut or does it just happen.

The news should've been delivered through text and/or snapchat tbh.

Well aren't you so millennial.

Newspapers are still a legitimate tool people use to spread information across the world. I don't understand this hatred towards physical print media.

So how do you think it should have been written?
A fantasy based on reality, yet aside from some real world brands and such there seems to be very little reality on the behavior, what young adult do you know goes out to read newspapers when we all smart phones constantly connected to the internet? Hell even an tablet device would be more plausible. Or Cor telling them in person at the hotel room and then leading them to the tomb, making him a guest party member for a longer period of time.

On a side note, wtf is the context of this scene?

Especially in more outlying areas of the country, away from big cities and with minimal internet access.

Although print media is dying slowly.

Maybe in this world newspapers are a bit more prominent and are far more convenient? I just don't understand the persecution of a perfectly valid news media outlet. Paper news has been a thing for a millennia. I think you underestimate its ability to be relevant in the field

Also, no mention of noctis ability to see expiring souls.. bleh

You were really expecting that to still be in?

Believe he is explaining how Ardyn is immortal thus the ghastly zombie face.
Oh ok.

Based on about an hour of cutscene footage and the Kingsglaive movie and the anime the only time newspapers are used to display pertinent information is to talk about the king's death. So I very much doubt the world where all the characters have smartphones and modern day camping equipment happens to be very behind ours in terms of how information is said to the public, or perhaps, they should've chosen a different tagline.

Speaking of, you guys remember how I complained that the first line in the game being "Stay Cool" was really bad, and people were arguing that it was just Prompto's personality, they removed the line and put in something much more appropriate, also removed "Let's play hide and seek with him."
