Final Fantasy XV SPOILER THREAD

A fantasy based on feedback

not gonna complain tho, those lines were cringe
Inb4 they patch the newspaper into a tablet. >_> Still glad they changed it though, first impressions are everything and the first line being a pun would not have gone over well for a lot of people.

My gripe with the scene (if you can call it a gripe, I don't mind it that much) is that finding out that Noct's kingdom is in ruin via newspaper isn't personal. If the director was trying to convey a sense of loss rendered awkward or unaffecting due to the bros' distance from Insomnia, I think that would be smart, and the newspaper a smart way to achieve that effect. But given the SAD MUSIC and SYMBOLIC RAIN, I get the sense that I'm supposed to FEEL, which just leads me to question the use of a newspaper to kick the SADNESS off.

Well aren't you so millennial.
I resent this

I resent this

Don't worry, i'm...kinda millennial? (89)

I just resent people hating on newspapers. Its not that long ago we used this form of news media with gusto, just like corded home phones and box televisions...

Inb4 they patch the newspaper into a tablet. >_>

They would have to go out of their way to do that, and i doubt they would.

Millennials start in the early 80's and end in the late 90's/early 2000's.

You're millennial as fuck.

Well that's a relief, i thought i was locked out of the millennial stuff all this time, i thought it was just for teenagers or people born very close to the 2000s

no, you're ancient

I'm not that old...even though i'm not hip with the kids and nor down with the latest internet lingo...

What does it even mean though. This never made any sense.

Him and stella had the ability to see death because of their near fatal experiences that they had both had in their lives that awakened their power

I mean they patched in Kingsglaive movie clips and changed the lip sync of that scene as well as re-recorded it so would you really be that surprised tho?

I would be surprised that they would be so scared of teenagers ripping on perfectly viable print media that they would go back and put an iphone or whatever they use these days in place of it.

Maybe in this world newspapers are a bit more prominent and are far more convenient? I just don't understand the persecution of a perfectly valid news media outlet. Paper news has been a thing for a millennia. I think you underestimate its ability to be relevant in the field

No one is persecuting newspapers... I'm saying that on an emotional and presentation level it's a poor way for the main character to find out about his dad's death. It doesn't help that the scripting for that scene is really bad.

Why do people look at newspapers? To find out information. Its not as if its wrong for them to find out this information in a newspaper as opposed to any other tool to communicate news and events. Do you have something against newspapers?
To be fair, it's a contemporary world. They got smartphones. You telling me they haven't made Twitter in their world? lol

Maybe not even Twitter, but like Cor didn't think to call or text the bros?

Well i don't disagree with you there at all. My version of the event would be for Tabata to have just erased going back to the edge of insomnia all together, have Cor meet up with them in hammer head and explain the situation from there, and they could continue on their way.

Finding out via news paper, going all the way back in the opposite direction and then heading back on your journey is just dumb padding. They keep going back and forth unnecessarily

It's interesting watching the Bahamut scene in English and Spanish. The Spanish subtitles are somewhat different, I imagine they're a translation of the Japanese text.

I think something that isn't conveyed too clearly is the whole 'it's a desolate place outside insomnia' probably affecting communication. You have broken telephone poles. You got that little bit in TGS2014 where the radio just gets out of range, even if the sequence of events changed up slightly.

It probably doesn't help that the phones do conveniently work when they need to though - Cindy calling, the bros deciding to play gacha games, etc.

Phone was working after shiva did diamond dust.

it's like when verendus was banned then everyone on GAF with the cool GAF dark theme had white backgrounds instead for a moment
lol

Where was it clarified though. Got a link?

He had the ability to see death.. at least that's how I understood it.
Correct me if I am wrong but this particular quote never talked about anyone specific so it could be any other character for all we know.

Death Note was very big around the time Versus was being brainstormed.

Early Noctis was clearly taking inspiration from Light Yagami (and Sasuke too).
Figures.

Yeah, the European versions seem to be a lot closer to the Japanese version.

I don't understand translators that just change the meaning completely. Noctis is called the "True King" in English, but he's the "Throned One" in Spanish (ostensibly how it is in Japanese maybe, who knows?).

Also as a Brit can I just say that Ignis and Stella's plummy, Queen Elizabeth II-esque vowels are hilAIRious. I know the voice actors are both British which just makes it even better/stupider.

Edit: Wrote Stella instead of Luna. Everything hurts.

<_< You said stella

The guy playing on the stream kinda sucks majorly. I'm not sure if he'll manage to finish the game. :P

And just like Chapter 13, Insomnia looks largely uninspired. It's a post-apocalyptic, demon-infested city, and it just looks really dull.

how does it compare to versus insomnia?

did we even really ever see versus insomnia? We know there were supposed to be tons of shinjuku inspirations, but outside of certain shots, i don't think we ever got a good look at it.

I think FF15's insomnia sticks out though because your barely there in the game, so you come back at the absolute very end and its just a bunch of grey empty buildings

I remember tabata (?) saying they needed to change it because Japanese fans complained about it looking too similar to Tokyo.

2011 trailer showed good footage of it. A lot people were interested in Shinjuku based city that is a stark contrast to the rest of the world. Niflheim was said to be a medieval city that uses current tech but Niflheim in the game looks like Midgar/Shitty New York.

Yea it's a shame how underutilized Insomnia is. Like why the fuck is the Niflheim chapter like 2 hours long but you can explore Insomnia in like 30 minutes.

lol at this guy trying to run away from the Ifrit fight.

I haven't played a single second of this game and I almost believe I have a better handle on this game's combat system than this streamer.

i think that most peoplethat will compain about the battle are the turn based fans

Ifrit does not give two shits about the death spell, or that healcast blizzard spell, and is constantly one shotting this dude. Lmfao.

This guy is insufferably incompetent. He has a lot of healing items so he might just make it due to this game's odd as fuck way of handling death.
