Final Fantasy XV SPOILER THREAD

I don't know if this has been talked about since I only beat the game today, but how does everyone feel about blind Ignis?
I liked Iggy already but this made me like him more. It introduced some organic conflict (which they had to ruin with Gladio acting like a huge ass to Noct).

Prompto is not a daemon. Idk what the bar code thing was about tbh.
He's basically a Magitek Trooper, and probably a prototype / test subject for MT research at that. But you'll have to play the DLC to find out because everything was off screen.

What are the consequences of dying in the game?

Other than lost progress(if you haven't saved or it hasn't auto saved in a while), I think you lose any stored Exp you didn't bank by resting.

In the Nifelheim dungeon there was a lore dump document that basically said they were making clones. Does that mean there are a million Promptos out there? Maybe. At the very least, I think it's clear Prompto is like some sort of test tube baby.

That's one of the strongest pictures in the entire game for me but like so many other scenes just way too short.

There are so many scenes throughout the game where I thought "ok that's gonna be epic, let's gooo!" but then all of a sudden they end - especially the set piece moments ( except for the super saiyan/sage mode part of the battles against Leviathan/Ardyn..... they were not fun and ultimately dragged on waaay~ too long).

I heard it mentioned somewhere that Gladio lost someone else, and that's the reason he left the party for awhile. I don't remember any explanation in the game, and I haven't heard anything else since. Was there ever a reason for that?

This was actually brought up a few pages ago in relation to one of my questions too. So as far as you know, Regis knew the entire time his son would die? How would he know that? Did he know the world was plunging into an everlasting darkness prior to the game's events? I know he sends him to Altissia to get "married" to basically save him from the invasion he knew was coming, but was he also sending him on a suicide mission to end his life so the world could be saved?

Man I felt horrible about that. It actually really hit me hard after the time skip, and Talcott talks about everyone and mentions how Ignis doesn't mind it since he's been in the darkness all this time. I teared after he said that. What an unfortunate accident. But I guess what's worse is that we don't really know how the hell it happened?! I probably would have had more compassion seeing that happen to him than seeing Luna get killed, since I felt no attachment to her.

Also, has anyone tried the dungeon after Ignis goes blind and not taking him? what happens?

I really loved it. It was pretty heartbreaking seeing Ignis act so cold and somewhat bitter. It was a nice change.

I feel like that was the only time where the narrative suddenly had focus and emotion. It being directly after Luna's death was a double whammy.

Yeah I agree with all this. I forgot to mention this in my post in the OT (since I let chapter 13 hate consume me for a quick minute), but it is something that I thought was really well done.

The mood in chapter 10 is fantastic. I really felt like a dick when I was sprinting ahead of Ignis lol

I'm guessing that the Ignis episode will cover how it happens. Hopefully it is covered well since it was neat how they left it vague in the main game.

His father died during the invasion but it was never mentioned in the game at all nor did Iris bring it up.. pops died and not even a mention.

In Episode Duscae 2.0 there's a quest where you have to find a necklage that Gladio lost somewhere. He later says that it's a gift for someone special iirc. Maybe this has sth. to do with it idk but there are no hints in the actual game from what I can tell.

Just beat the game now. :'(
Few questions...
1. Did Noctis actually survive at the end or was that "in heaven"?
As others have said, he is dead. But what I like about the ending is that when the camera first shows the throne room, I'm confident what we are seeing is real life. The only thing that isn't real is Noctis and Luna. So underneath the throne where it has a banner "Noctis Lucis Caelum CXIV" I get the feeling you are supposed to think the people put it up to honor the man who saved their ass from darkness. Or maybe not! But that is how I like to look at it.
More than anything, I just want to know what Nomura's original story was. I get the feeling we won't see that happen unless he leaves Square.
Honestly, while I'm interested to hear it also, I'm not super interested because I feel like XV's biggest problem wasn't story. I liked the story. However, their storytelling itself was some of the worst I've ever seen.

It is actually kinda hard for me to accept that we'll never have a real version of the story. So much potential ruined, ffs. It's really incredible.
It feels like someone took a trilogy of great books and gave it the Michael Bay movie treatment.

I'm kinda pissed about it.

And also that they never bothered to try to capitalize on many things unique to this game, like warping.

People were bringing up how his father died and i'm like ok and? it was just over the top if that's how he was dealing with it.
It ruined one of the best moments for a character as you said, Ignis helping the bros out was a standout moment.

Reaching Tenebrae was disappointing af in all honesty, conveniently having the place ablaze so you can't explore it anyway lol.

I mean Kojima can't even talk specifics about Konami, Nomura would probably have a gag order of sorts lol if he leaves I wish he did something like Miyazaki did with bloodborne.. a reskinned versus.

I also loved how he basically became Daredevil by the end. Too bad it wasn't really explained how he was able to do that, along with all of the other things that were left unexplained and unseen.

Ignis is easily the best bro if you ask me.

This. So much this. I'm a softie for happy endings so I was a little bit salty with how it turned out [Noctis being a glorified sacrifical pig] however I'm seeing myself appreciating it if it was told in a better, less rushed manner, fleshing out more characters [Ravus, Luna, hell, even the whole empire].

As for Nomura, I'm not interested, probably wouldn't even be a good read considering the mess he made of KH's plot.

And in the official guide Gladio's father is called Crailas and looks like this: xd

I feel like even SE doesn't know what's canon anymore and what's not. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If that's indeed Gladio's father then he most likely would have been mentioned at the very least if not in the game.

Frankly the story part would improve once they put out the right DLCs.

His "actual (at least in this version of the game) " father is obviously Clarus, the guy who got killed in Kingsglaive but it's just baffling to me that something like this made it into the offical guide. It makes the whole plot/character changes even more questionable.

I also can't believe that Verstael and Iedolas had literally one cutscene in the entire game where they had a speaking role. Looking back at all of those trailers, even the more recent ones, makes it look so ridiculous how these guys were hyped up and ended up essentially not being in the game.

Everything was offscreen.

This stupid jumping puzzle, I have to go to sleep now sonjownIll have to keep the game running which'll eat up my electricity bills. Don't trust suspending the game after what happened with me losing my saves last time.

I saw a Youtube video where they pretty much ruin the ending by selecting a photo of Cindy.

It was hilarious in that final scene. XD
Ah well atleast I will go to bed laughing about something. What if they took a picture of Ardyn?

It was probably just a bunch of bits, pieces and concepts. I don't think he ever had anything concrete.

I'm not exactly willing to believe that, after playing the game it feels like a lot of what was left over had to be changed for the sake of a release.

Thanks for the clarification and yeah it's pretty mindboggling.

I feel like around 2012 they still had a lot of importance and was meant to be way more than what we got. I don't believe for a second their role was that subdued.

This is why I often advise people to refrain from letting their imaginations get too carried away off of trailers. It can be fun, but they can be so misleading, whether intentionally or due to the changing nature of ongoing development in games.

Admittedly, I'm still a bit surprised by how little Iedolas gets. I figured he'd have two or three real scenes, not one.

That shouldn't ever happen. There are blatant holes in the game that shouldn't be there, and I'm not even talking about the stuff that was very obviously cut because of time constraints.

In the Nifelheim dungeon there was a lore dump document that basically said they were making clones. Does that mean there are a million Promptos out there? Maybe. At the very least, I think it's clear Prompto is like some sort of test tube baby.
The strategy guide lists Prompto as (spoiler in case people don't want to read)
the biological son of Verstael who was the Empire's head Researcher
so yeah.

Btw. I'm at least glad I didn't watch this trailer before playing the game. I just watched it and..... wow it spoils literally every interesting scene of the entire game - even the ending with dead Noctis on the throne.

And I don't know if it's sad or just funny that it contains every single scene with Luna from the game.

There is no "real version", works of fiction such as this will have multiple variations and bits and pieces of a core concept and none of them more real than the other. They are all ideas inside heads that the creators bunch up together and connect. The only thing differentiating one from another is what made it into the game and what didn't.

So if you insist on having one then for all intent and purpose the one that made it into the game is the "real version".

He surely does, specially if you check the Omen trailer, when Regis says in the end "May the Gods forgive me", at 4:05 here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZymd6r4wGg&t=7s

This is like the fourth time now a trailer has done this, I've remarked that it might be the case, and people have said "no way, it's awesome how much they're hiding until release."

In the future, we really need to assume there isn't all that much being hidden away. Most marketers sift through and find the most important material to showcase. Especially these days. <_>

I'm still iffy on Regis' new design, has nothing to do with the one we saw for years it's just that he looks drastically different than his own son.

Crap, just look at the lyrics in "Stand by me"... what the hell have you done SE? It's perfect for that damn ending! >_<

I'm writing up something about it now actually. Ended up busy today. For now you can have my completion certificate, lol.
I'll wait patiently. But why is everyone's picture so much better than mine. I don't even think I got a picture at a lighthouse. I picked a stupid car one with Iris in backseat, and poor Iggy was blocked from view.

Maybe Noctis gets his looks from his mum, and thst in reality he is mixed race and Regis is white while Mrs. Regis is Asian.

Somehow I feel like they didn't even think that far considering older Noctis looks nothing like his younger self at all and that has nothing to do with age.
