Final Fantasy XV SPOILER THREAD

That being said, I think they really just focused on Noctis and his journey with his friends and what that meant for him. All this lore/underlying mythos is flavor in that story but not really 100% necessary to understand what the game was trying to convey....Noctis coming of age and accepting his fate.

Pretty sure this and they were running out of dev time. Nomura was not scrapped for shits and giggles.

Actually kinda liked it but yeah if you want to see more then what Noctis and the Chocobro's only experiences it's just not there.

Hopefully some of the dlc will flash it out glad the price of the season pass ain't to bad. But dlc should honestly not be used to flesh out or finish stories, the big complaint from me is the parts where Noctis his friends are away for a while and not explained why or what they did are clearly dlc bait.

Still fantastic game but that thing seriously makes me kinda mad. Ignis is suddenly blind but how? Gladio suddenly gets some scars while he was gone and did not even tell Noctis what he has been doing. The Prompto one where he falls of the train is kinda okay expected him being captured anyway.

Instead of the Omen scene, they should have put the Dawn trailer scenes and other flashbacks to trigger whenever Noctis sleeps. We only got one Regis flashback and he didn't even interact with Noctis.

My mouth was left agape after seeing that. It doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Isn't that supposed to have been a vision Regis had?

Yeah.

The bigger problem for me is that whatever they tried to tell with that scene, is never touched again. Noctis dosn't have any other nightmare, and he never speaks about it, neither seems to have an impact on the character at all.

Is something that just...happens.

My hopes for the DLC:

Gladio: Gives more screen time to Cor, perhaps taking place in the northern part of Lucis that we don't visit in game - Galahd, possibly?

Ignis: Explore more of the area surrounding Altissia/Accordo, or, at the very least, the parts of the city that are walled off in the main game. Give more exposition to the empire's invasion of Altissia.

Prompto: Explore some of Solheim, reveal the Verstael-father connection, see the empire as it collapses. Ends with Prompto's capture.

"Expansion pack": Explorable World of Ruin segment with Iris.

I want atleast a good 2 hours for each of the DLC, if it is not too much to ask.

I mean they already have the assets and likely cut content so they can hopefully make meaty DLCs. That would fix some of the issues with the story and narrative.

I expect the content of the DLC to be about all these 3 things.

For me XV is over. Time to move on. And certainly, not interested in any of these DLC.

When? I don't recall this at all

It's around the Ifrit fight as I recall. Ardyn basically goes "Ifrit doesn't share your fondness of humanity Shiva, yadda yadda yadda" as I recall. I'd need to replay the end to find out where it is but Ardyn definitely mentions it quickly.

Well, at this point all I need to do is some fishing and I have the platinum :D

I still haven't figured out how to open the big doors at the end of some of the dungeons. I'm post game, level 80-something, and they keep saying they are locked. Any ideas?

I will be content with this. Provided they are not simply 1-2 hour long each but more, or atleast have non story content that would make it last more if then player chooses.

Kinda funny how Ignis is completely blind now yet still able to fight just as well as before.

Guess he is Daredevil by night.

or... that explains why at least he constantly walks into every attack an enemy does.

You need to clear all of the dungeons and then head to the hunter HQ for a quest to get the key.

Go to the area north of Lestallum. It is called Hunter's Keep or something. A lady there will be able to give you 8 keys to the post-game secret dungeons.

You finished every one of the dungeons ? If yes then you need to go to a Hunter HQ near Vesperpool (it's to the east of Vesperpool in the middle of a horizontal road right after a tunnel if you go east from Vesperpool. When you get there there is an old lady sitting on a chair, speak to her and she'll give you a seal that lets you open the tier 2 dungeons.

They are horrible though, literally nothing more than one small room full of enemies followed by descending down to another room and doing it several times, sometimes you'll come across a room with a campfire for you to get some status boost. One of them is even 100 rooms long and you find ridiculous enemies in there. When I went to them the first time I was level 99 and yet being brought down to 0 health from 9000 health by level 70 crabs...though killing them was easy enough but the game will just throw more of them at you in later rooms. Then you'll get enemies who are resistant to everything but elements and the only proper way to get them is to use magic. It's just repetitive and you don't even get enemy variety. I think I cleared 15-20 rooms and only saw 5 different enemies, one of which only showed up once.

So... who was Regis talking to in the Omen trailer? Bahamut? Why is Bahamut looking forward to Noctis' death? Or is Ardyn's?

I feel like they made all these trailers and then changed the story, but then though "whoops! what do we do now with all this promotional material?... fuck it, release it anyway".

Regis was speaking to Bahamut/the Crystal, and he/she/it is looking forward to Noctis' death because it marks the end of the immortal Accursed (Ardyn) and Regis also knew this.

That is why he is so upset in the Dawn trailer...he knew the gods chose Noctis and what that meant (his death).

Omen trailer isn't meant to be actual events in the game, just material that reflects the themes in the game: Regis regrets the fact that the Crystal has chosen Noctis as the sacrificial lamb.

I also recall Nomura saying that the planned ratio of CGI to real time cut scenes was in the realm of 30:70.

In the final product we got 3 CGI cutscenes, not counting them putting kingsglaive footage and the omen trailer into the game.

Just some information i recall from the same interview

I recall that too.

BTW anyone knows how much total exp you need to get to lvl 100? And how much from lv 45? Thanks in advance

Nomura's three arc game seems to me like as follows:

Part 1 - Invasion, open world Lucis, Accordo...ending at Stella's death there possibly.

Part 2 - Reclaiming the throne. So open world Tenebrae/Niflheim. Bringing Ardyn to justice in Insomnia.

Part 3 -War with the God. So the focus is on the world of ruin and defeating Ifrit now.

Damn the road was set for quite an epic trilogy.

But that is all assumptions. Nomura's vision could've ultimately been just as bad or worse for all we know.

Yeah, it really seems like the characters, based on their relationships and what we knew about them during development, were being positioned to do a rough take of Hamlet. I've said this before, but I'm pretty sure Ravus was the Laertes to Stella's Ophelia – and, in keeping with the outline above, I think that the Noctis/Stella relationship would've been pulling from Romeo & Juliet. Ardyn, of course, would be Claudius.

What might have been. I really hope that the DLC is substantial enough to justify the changes made to the story, because in its present form it really just reeks of unfulfilled potential. At least they nailed the main characters.

I liked the boygroup, but couldn’t care less for the character episodes. Bleh, what’s the point in seeing how Ignis got blind or where Gladios’ scars come from. I doubt that this will flesh out the story much. More interested in the expansion pack. We didn’t get an epilogue so there is a chance. Would like to know what happens to the world after the cleansing, maybe with Aranea or Iris or both in the leading roles.

Yup. I remember this too.

Jesus. That sounds lazy as fuck, especially considering how good the dungeons (except Costlemark) are.

I'm just realizing that X-2 and XIII-2 AND LR are all about bringing someone back to life...

I can't believe I'm the only one who didn't think they all died in the end. I'm shook.

While there's room for both interpretations I'm in the "they're not dead" camp.

Mostly because the entire theme was Noctis being the one that had to sacrifice himself to end things and entrusting the world to his brothers imo. The campfire scene was him breaking down to his brothers because he realizes he has to leave them. Not to mention that the 3 bros have been killing demons on their own for 10 years.

The part with Ardyn seeing them behind him is something that gets done quite a bit in different games/anime where the antagonist looks at the protagonist at a crucial moment and sees the spirits of his comrades behind him for a split second even though they are not actually there. It represents that they are with him in spirit.

Also the only power that let him kill Ardyn was the power of the kings. This is stated explicitly by Bahamut that the only way to kill Ardyn is with that power so I don't believe the bros actually provided Noctis with power, it was a completely spiritual support type of thing imo.

I am doing them atm. Cleared the first one. Its boring. The first one mostly has Flans. I found Dominator there, which seems to be a powerful greatsword for now. And a gun.

This does make sense but I wish it was handled differently. They show up for like a second, and you barely have time to register they're there. The fact that Regis was standing there also threw me off, because all of a sudden, for a split second, I'm seeing five guys, so it didn't register who the heck I was looking at. It all just happened to fast that I didn't really have the emotional response from them "being there for him."

IMO this scene should have had them each say something to him, something inspirational and in-character, that way it might be a little less cryptic whether they're dead or not, and instead could be interpreted as him remembering each member's strengths and gains power from them. Or something along those lines.

I know, shoulda-coulda-woulda. I still liked the story, and had me break down by the end, but damn I still wish it would have had the presentation of past FF titles.

In terms of cut content, there's also that train station (which was too big to not be part of a major city) they showed in the cat demo, the Greek looking village and the place that resembled the Vittorio Emanuele gallery that they showed this very year.

Bump them into an Episode Regis or Episode Aranea DLC please.

Can anyone help me here? I have no clue what to do. Looks like the items I need are beyond that door but how do I open it?

BTW Reading your legendary FFXV delay post now in this moment of pain is not as fun as before lol.

You've already turned on one of the computer panels. You have to find the other 3. There's a big boss behind that door.

I wonder if the DLC episodes are woven into the main game (like, for example...when Gladio goes off and does his own thing, do you get put into that DLC episode?) or are they just stand alone things you play from start to finish outside of the main game?

How does that usually work? I haven't played very many games with substantial DLC content.

Agree and I don't think it's even debatable. The 3 bros didn't die/aren't dead.

Noctis even says to them on the steps before entering the throne room "Prompto, Gladio, Ignis...I leave it to you." meaning the kingdom/world.

There are 4 switches in the dungeon that you have to find and interact with to unlock this door.

The bros fate is open-ended in my opinion. Personally I believe the bros didn't die, they survived 10 years in a world of darkness and you mean to tell me they died after fighting for 5 minutes with a couple of level 30 iron giants? Nah brah.

Just finished the game. The ending was great. Overall I think this game was excellent. The camera was an issue, as well as that damn Chapter 13, but other than that I'm satisfied.

But they were all dead there.

Damn, true. But technically it's just their spirits, not their physical bodies that are helping her.

Oh dear. I'm only level 50, not sure if I'm ready for that. Is it related to the side-quest or can I finish that then come back?

The boss isn't as hard as the snake mini-boss lady you fight before it, but...and I know this is a slippery slope...it's a bitch to backtrack that entire dungeon, so I would just turn on easy mode and let Carbuncle continuously revive you so you can get that dungeon over with.

If anyone wants to know where to find the ingredients for Lasagne Al Forno (cooking level 9 food that gives 100% XP bonus, +4000 HP and negates all elemental damage) then here they are:

1) Fine Cleigne Wheat - Lestalum (I think it's the seller near the square, but could be the ones in the market)
2) Jabberwock Sirloin - Maldecia Hunter HQ (you might be required to defeat Jabberwock in Costlemark dungeon first though but I'm not sure about this so could be wrong)
3) That Fish Fillet (donno name) - Magho bar in Altissia

Literally sounds like FFXIII, XIII-2, and LR... which is fine.

Open world Pulse, Cocoon, reclaim Etro's throne, death of Luna
Serah
, bring Ardyn Caius to justice. War with almighty Boonievelvet Bhunivelze in world of ruin Nova Chrysalia.

I'm only being like 51% serious. :)

I was able to find two other switches before finding the car piece, then also finding the last switch. Was feeling risky so I went to the door (took be a bit to find it again lol) and destroyed that boss. It was actually pretty easy. I haven't turned to easy mode at all yet so it's interesting Carbuncle is there, I didn't know that.

Oh dear. I'm only level 50, not sure if I'm ready for that. Is it related to the side-quest or can I finish that then come back?
Unrelated to side quest...the side quest item required one activation. Check youtibe for location. And you are actually way overlevelled for that boss and he is also easier than the snake lady.

I just remembered how Deus Ex: MD was cut as it was supposed to be a larger game. Now we have Final Fantasy XV, that looks to be the same.

If the upcoming DLC fleshes out the story and plays out like it was actual cut content, it will only confirm my suspicion.

I was surprised to see the name of executives at the end and it appears that the Western division of SE actually has a big influence now over the Japanese division. Some of the executives names were listed there along with Matsuda. I have heard of PR changes as well so I won't be surprised to learn that just like Deus Ex: MD, the developers were forced to cut the game short here to tie in with the DLC philosophy of modern SE.

Going back, the Season Pass of the game was announced barely a few months before launch and then they even managed to confirm the major story DLC will be related to the bros along with the episode name and all. I just think it is too much of a coincidence.

I would pay 70 more euros to get the cut chapters but honestly I doubt we'll ever see them as they were intended to be... how can they add content in the middle of the game at this point? They are probably just going to make some side stories about Ignis being blind, Gladio leaving the party temporarily and Prompto being kicked off the train.

So any speculation on the DLCs?

Episode Promtp

Looks like Prompto's DLC is set in a snowy place so likely near to Shiva, which confirms Solheim.

They never released concept art for Ignis because Altissia and Invasion set piece would already be a spoiler.

The time-skip seems like a space perfectly ripe for expansion. I wonder if that was somehow intentional...

You know, it's really disappointing that the enemy variety you typically encounter in the game feels so limited for most of the run. I didn't even run into a Cactuar until after I finished the game.

I don't think he was talking to Bahamut, i'm pretty sure he talked to Ardyn.

Ardyn: I've seen many deaths, but now i know you can forward (not so sure about this part) only to one... and then i can rest.

Regis: You will take responsibility, you know.

Ardyn: As must we all.

Regis: May the gods forgive me.

So is Shiva a "species" rather than an "individual?"
Did the Empire kill "Mother Shiva" or "Shiva Prime" or something?

The timeline of some off-screen events is rather vague, but it seems like the Empire has only recently succeeded in killing Shiva when Noctis arrives on the train, but Gentiana's been communicating with Noct for a while and has apparently hung around Luna since childhood.

Is she just "a" Shiva rather than "the" Shiva?
