Final Fantasy XV SPOILER THREAD

I've just entered Costlemark Tower, the recommended level is 55 which is where I'm at. But I've heard so many horror stories about that dungeon. Should I level up some more or will I be fine at that level?

Edit: and can you camp inside that dungeon?

The dungeon that made me love magic and using items during elemancy for better effects. Things like Ignis' Enhancement will help a lot. Careful though, the buff lasts a decent bit and you don't want to hit enemies that absorb an element you have.

I was level 65 and didn't know what I was doing. It was hell. My advice is to either level up some more or consult a guide (It's a maze-like dungeon). Boss is not difficult at your level. No camping.

The dungeon will make you hate Thunder Bombs (they kill the framerate) and Red Giants (if you don't know what you're doing).

Thanks for the help! I exited the dungeon for the time being. I'm going to cash in the exp I've been hoarding, stock up on items and spells and then I'll go back.

For Costlemark, eventhough it says recommended is 55, you won't be able to finish the dungeon at that level unless you get lucky.

There is a room at the end with 4 lifts which you have to take and 3 of those are traps while one leads to boss. It's always random and the first one is most likely always a trap (but also doable at 55). The 2nd trap is more difficult and you'll likely need a summon. But the 3rd one will be near impossible at level 55. But if you still don't get the boss room by that time then you are unlucky. Just go back to entrance, restock and try again...the enemies in this dungeon won't respawn (except for the ones in traps).

You do need lightning and fire resistance for thst dungeon. Also element will eat those bombs even at level 55, it's the traps thst are the issue.

Has anyone tried speed running the game? It must be doable in like six hours with knowledge. The only thing that would stop that is loading/driving times?

Fighting the turtle while being level 99, thing isn't even hurting me. The only issue I'm having is consistently being able to hit spots that take high damage. The easiest and fastest location to hit (his fingers) also takes like 5 times less damage.

Been at it for about 40 minutes now and he's down to 20-25% health....such a slog and totally unsuitable fight for this game.

Only one trophy remains for platinum...fishing.
And I am only level 3...I wonder how long it'll take considering it takes so much time to even lire a fish.

3-4 hours, fish at the Vestapool Lake and upgrade your fishing gear there. Use Malboro lures and gold gigantuars.

I caught the big fish mutliple times on the trek to lv10 fishing.

Gear is from the Vesperpool shop, so nothing special like Coliseum rewards, had to use a new 2000/2000 line every time, and got to the point I could catch it in about 1000 durability.

It's really a battle of attrition and focus. Takes almost 5 minutes.

I did it at 53, will a party sub 50 ;)

And the reward is what? 2% on the fishing skill bar ?
How many fish do I need to catch to get to 10? Going from 9-10 requires probably as much time as 1-9.

Atleast with Pronto and Gladio I could to spend time doing other stuff to hit 10 and Ignis only took 20 mins. This I have to play an entire mini game I don't like for hours and hours if I want platinum. And it's the only trophy remaining.

I'd give you my account if you like catching fish :p

I was 47, took two turns though because I was low on restoratives and I felt a bit scared carrying 40k+ EXP with me haha. Bloodborne vibes.

Went to rest in Galdin Quay for that sweet 2x EXP bonus, too.

I would go sleep right after catching 1 because you're likely going to level and then get more fishing bonuses.

Or you'll be at lv9 and have a better gauge on how much more torture you need to put up with.

Oh god, is Noctis reliving his road trip over and over again for his eternal slumber?
It was the best time of his life, he gets to be with his "brothers" again and travel the world...
I think that's actually my headcanon now.
It explains Chapter 0, Noctis jerking awake next to the Regalia, and the "pushing the car" dialog starting immediately over the credits after Noctis passes on.

I don't think there's really a "conscious" afterlife in XV's world, you just sort of settle down and dream forever, and Noctis dreams of his adventures with his closest friends.
Noctis is the "figure that lies asleep in the fantasy," and the fantasy is just hanging out with his bros forever.

Final Fantasy XV |OT2| Who the hell is Jared?

I'm still upset we didn't go with Final Fantasy XV |OT| RE:Versus XIII.

Noctis is the "figure that lies asleep in the fantasy."

That's how I also interpreted it, heart-wrenching really.

It's too bad they apparently cut the "monster version" of Ardyn, that's exactly what we were all expecting.

There's no way you can convince me that Ardyn didn't have a One-Winged Angel final battle form that got cut for either time/budget reasons, or because it no longer made sense with his retrofitted backstory and that of the Starscourge.
I feel like they knew there was too little plot to pull something like that with, and they'd have another "Who the hell is Necron?" on their hands.

It was a really janky and underwhelming final battle, too.
The first phase I was kind of excited because some of the best fights in gaming are one-on-one with someone with the same powerset, but it just felt...off.
Then the second phase it really just fireworks while the city scrolls around to to put you in position for the next cutscene.
Then you have a fight that you'd have to pretty much put the controller down to lose, ended with a 12-hit QTE that's all the same button.

And on top of it all, the Bros don't get to back Noctis up during *any* of this.
Honestly, the way Ardyn just unceremoniously knocked them out was just insulting, and the spell had little skull effects, too.
I honestly thought for a second that Ardyn had cast Death on them and that was it. I was furious, but not in an "emotional payoff" way - in a "C'mon. That's bullshit." sort of way.
The bros deserved at least one super awesome sequence working together, but Bahamut and Shiva steal the Ifrit battle, and then the Bros are pretty much off-screen the rest of the game.

Come to think of it, I bet the reason they show up besides Noctis in the "Ardyn in the Afterlife" segment is a band-aid from the cutscene director so that the bros, the actual backbone and emotional core of the game aren't completely fucking absent for the climax.

When he got shot and sliced, you did see his demon face. It probably got cut due to time constraints, like a lot of the game.

Necron is Jared.

Also, hahahahaha

I posted this ad before but it keeps showing up more and more as I browse these threads

Another weird thing about the last fight is Noctis changes out of his King clothes into a suit for no reason, maybe they were hoping we wouldnt notice?

They needed him in a suit for the CGI cutscene... fuck continuity.

Was there something in the game explaining why Iedolas was a daemon?

Some in-game banter between the bros handwaves it, but it's seriously like two or three lines that you might not even be able to hear over battler.

I actually took it as symbolic.
He was wearing the super fancy Kingly Raiments with all the adornments and flourishes and such, but in death he's just wearing a simple black suit.
He shed the King's Attire like he shed the title and the entire Lucis Caelum lineage by sacrificing himself to end it.
I kind of took it as "In death, we are just men," but I'm probably giving far too much credit.

It's probably just because Noct looked really striking and iconic in the matte black suit, and it made for more impressive lighting for the last sequence.

Noctis is the "figure that lies asleep in the fantasy," and the fantasy is just hanging out with his bros forever.

That also explains the presentation - as dreamlike reconstructions of memories nothing really needs to be fully explained or shown in full detail, events are compressed or drawn out, people he didn't know very well melt away after their bit part and the past blurs into the present; it could even account for why his interactions with Luna as a child take precedence over the brief and tragic meeting as adults, and Carbuncle's photobombs, since it's already established to appear to him in dreams. Maybe it also explains Cidney's outfit.

It's too bad they apparently cut the "monster version" of Ardyn, that's exactly what we were all expecting.

I'm not sure I wanted him to mutate into a typical FF final boss, but some kind of visually distinct final phase would have been nice. Even just getting to fight him as Skullface Ardyn with an expanded moveset and slightly different costume; as with Xemnas' last form, would be okay.

lol. I wouldn't even have known it was him if I hadn't bothered looking up the name. I don't think they mentioned him at all after the talking about the capital city.

There are a lot of frustrating holes and omissions in the game but I liked this one plot point about Iedolas' daemon form. I think it was intentional. It's subtle so that people are mindblown when they realize it, like
Shadow committing suicide
at the end of FFVI, or
Vivi dying
in the ending of FFIX, or
Death Peak being Lavos
in Chrono Trigger.

I personally loved the final boss fight. So fucking epic. Ardyn was one of my favorite final bosses in the series, up there with Kefka and Sephiroth. I loved the simplicity of it. No clichéd multiple Angel/Demon hybrid forms. Just prince vs usurper fighting through the ruined streets and skies of Insomnia anime style to an amazing fucking piece of music.

Holy shit at that last one. Never pieced that together

I just finished the game.

Can someone please explain everything to me?

Like. Everything.
I wrote a thing that sorta kinda helps maybe
