Final Fantasy XV TGS 2014 Trailer: English Voices

The Voice acting is fine.

I don't see how the Japanese voices are better.Prompto was awful with his moaning and the rest sounded really anime-typical.The only one I like was Noctis in the Japanese dub.

Same as FFXIII,the English voice acting is probably better this time around.

Not even close.

I'm usually not too fussed over the voices, and these sound fine to me. Need to listen to more of Noctis to get used to him. Others are great.

Because Japanese is always better, obviously, you baka gaijin.

While I would agree that this is generally true, part of it is also due to the charm of hearing a language most of us can't understand.

I bet most of us here can't objectively asses the quality of Japanese VA.I know I can't do it objectively because I amnot a native speaker and the most of Japanese VA sounds samey to me.

Not even close.

I also disagree that the voices were horrendous in XIII NA.

They did an admirable Job given the script.

And they kept a good job of having distinctive voices that fit the characters' appearances.

As for FFXV,that's still up in the air. We'll see when the full game releases.

For now they sound fine.

Not a huge fan of Noctis's grunts; kind of goes a bit too deep. His talking voice is OK, I guess? Prompto's voice is less annoying than his Japanese counterpart's, though I'm not too big on Gladio or Ignis's acting. Hopefully they don't go ruining the girls' voices though... That's a bigger deal for me than the guys. Would love to be able to switch between English and Japanese to experience the differences. Also, that script needs some polish.

After watching the trailer a few times, I found the voices to be fine. Had to break away from what I expected them to sound like from hearing them in Japanese. I still have a problem with the "bath" part and some parts of the script felt rough.

Why is it hyperbole? If I can't get immersed into the game because of cringe worthy dialogue - it's not going to be a very enjoyable experience for me and as such it isn't going to get my time or my money.

Ok, now it's the dialogue that's the problem. Your original post makes it sound like just the sound of the voices. A game has much more to offer (potentially, this game could be terrible) than the sound coming from the character's mouths which is where my post was originally coming from. Furthermore, the dialogue could be just as stupid in Japanese.

This is obviously personal opinion, but I don't think I've ever given cheesy dialogue more than a passing thought. Even everyone's favorite "moms are tough." I didn't even remember that line until people kept holding it up as a paragon of bad dialogue.

Thought they were fine. The "bawwth" was funny though...

Surprised everyone wants Noctic's voice to be deep.
I guess he reminded me of Sauske, who had a really deep voice (for like a 13 year old lol). So I'm kind of fine with a deep English VA.

So which one is Troy Baker?

Dear me I thought that was dire. Of course Ignis has to be British, Noctis sounds like he's voiced by whoever did Caim in Lost Odyssey but doesn't fit him in my opinion. I thought Prompto would be more like Zell, don't get that from the English VA. Find it kind of hilarious how he got slammed every time he appeared before but now people think he sounds good.

Seems surreal hearing noctis and the gang talk in english, so many years hearing them talk in jpn That it's off putting.

Noctis: voice sounds deep and sort of robotic at times but that's gonna get fixed, seemed like a quick voice over job.
Prompto: sounds amazing.
Ignis: wasn't expecting the British accent, he's cool in my book.
Gladio: sounds good and bad in certain portions of the trailer.

I'm pretty impressed it's just hard to tell who's speaking at times. I just expected Noctis to be more soft spoken. Noctis VA would go perfectly with Gladio. However, I'm being positive about this so let's give a chance.

DLC For JPN VA I wouldn't mind paying just in case.

Really don't like Ignis's voice, maybe I'll get used to it.

Prompto sounded fantastic though.

Other two are fine, nothing great, but not bad.

I'm over listening to Japanese rpgs with horrendous voice acting. If it's not improved by launch i'll probably give this a pass.

Big story tidbit.

"Turns out Luna is in Altissia."

"She made it out alive?"

I wonder what happens this far into the story.

I prefer the Japanese voice acting I think - but this is still totally serviceable and I'll end up playing in English regardless.

What the fuhhh??? Waiting for how many years and this is how I hear the English voice actors for the first time??? Weird.....

Anyway, got used to the voices real quick. Noctis and Gladious sound great, Prompto sounds kinda annoying (as he should?), but not really digging the British tone on Ignis. Sometimes it sounded ok, sometimes not.

I would have preferred everyone but Prompto be British or vice-versa, since Prompto is from a foreign nation.

Ignis being British just strikes me as odd.

The demo is modifying story progression details and the TGS trailer seems to be a trailer for the demo, I think what happens in the demo will be different in the final game.

And really that explains the whole radio thing, if they are changing story progression just for the demo that means the peace treaty talks saying the peace treaty party is yet to happen being on the radio and them already having left Lucis doesn't necessarily mean that is what happens in the final game, since that goes against the supposed premise we knew before.

Seems they are having that radio part in as a hint towards the final game but they are just modifying it for the demo purposes.

Where did you get that? He and Noctis grew up together. He just comes from a lesser background than the others.

It's been said he's a fugitive from another nation. That's the reason his primary weapon are guns since firearms are said to be banned from Lucis. They are childhood friends too. Unless this info has been changed which from what I remember it hasn't.

How would double VA tracks work? I thought they lipsynched the lines, at least during CGI, wouldn't it look weird? I'm assuming that including two sets of cutscenes would fill the blu ray easily so I dunno if it's feasible. Barring DLC,of course. Hopefully free of charge.

I had the same sensation hearing Noctis' english voice than I had hearing Shulk's english voice.

I got used to Shulk's, hopefully I get used to Noctis too. Prompto is good, Ignis is okay, Gladio is... I need to hear more of him.

Also, WTF, I don't appear here for one day and DMC4 gets Vergil, FFXV gets english voices, what else did I miss? Is The Last Guardian out too?

They don't lip-sync anymore for Final Fantasy. That stopped at FFX.
