Final Fantasy XV TGS 2014 Trailer: English Voices

I'm starting to dig the voices after watching a few times, I honestly thought they wouldn't find a not-annoying voice for Prompto, but they seem to have picked just that. Noctis' voice is still weird being so deep lol

This is quite an early showcase, they will probably release whatever trailer they present at Jump Festa in English too so that we can get a more accurate idea on what the final product will sound like. And then we'll have the chance to feel it first-hand with the demo in pretty much 3 months :D

"I need a baaaaaath."

I dunno, I'm on the fence. I think I'll just need to play it for myself... hopefully the writing's good.

But I will say that the dynamic between them reminds me just a teeny, tiny bit of the one between Vincent and his boys at the bar in Catharine, and that's a very good thing.

Repost for new page...

I feel like Prompto should have been the only one with an accent. He's said to be from an outside nation.

Heck, he's got BRIXTON clothing. A UK fashion brand. The rest of the gang have Roen, which is a Japanese company.

Unless it's been changed, he's still a foreign fugitive.

Check out that high-res and look at the panther on Prompto's vest. He looks different than the rest of them, too.

Unless Prompto came to Lucis at a young age, then that changes things.

Where was this stated? His official description says nothing about being a foreigner.
ノクトの仲間の1人。明るく陽気な性格。主人公の仲間の中では、ムードメーカー的な存在でお調子者かつ女好きでもある。
ノクト達とは違い、特別な家柄にはない、学生時代からの悪友。

He's wearing Roen boots in that picture.

Not a horrible dub, but the stuck-up sounding guy needs to take it down a notch, unless he's supposed to be the comic relief.
At least it's sounding better than the dub for P4G.

Come at me bros!

Ignis is a supervillain

Gladio sounds fine when talking normally, like a DBZ character when he's yelling

Prompto and Noctis are gine.

I'm talking translations from several years before the official press release at E3 2013. The character descriptions have stayed the same.

Yeah, he's wearing Roen boots, but he still has BRIXTON branding. Just search it up on Google. I think it's telling that he wears that and everyone else has Roen.

Sounded fine to me, obviously japanese would be better. It will probably be hard to fit XV and dual audio on 1 disc though so im not getting my hopes up.

"I could do with a baaaaaathhh"

what the shit was that

A long vowel is pretty common in southron British pronunciations of bath. I wouldn't be surprised if the voice actor was asked to ham up the accent, though. Seems to happen to British actors regularly, especially for a US audience. Interesting how the only British accents that ever seem to be used are R.P, Cockney and awful Scottish impersonations.

TLG...Threelights pls

Well... A few months ago a trailer for FFXV with english voices was about as likely as TLG.

They don't lip-sync anymore for Final Fantasy. That stopped at FFX.
They did FFXIII though, that's why the PC version is so big, it downloads every CG twice.

This is so animé
I thought the complaints were that they sound too western lol

Yeah, I don't expect anything different this time. Matching the lip movements is pretty bad. I'd rather have a huge download.

Watched it before reading this thread and I'm honestly quite surprised at how many people are disliking it. It's obviously a very short sample but all the voices seemed fine, nothing grating like some of the FF13 voice cast or new Chie in P4G.

The more I here them the more I like them. Is it great? No not really, it feels like a dub. It feels like it's not the original dialogue. It feels like sloppy seconds, but it's no worse than FFXIII which I felt was passable. Here's hoping the script is good and Noctis is allowed to emote.

We didn't know a thing about him other than his name before that. Have any links?

Prompto reminds me so much of those typical british guys from animes (like Kento from Kimi ni Todoke)

Funny or Annoying, always murring, flirting with girls

i like that xD

Most of you will hate him i guess

Prompto is perfect everything, looks, voice.

noctis voice...? just no

Noctis is batman bro, connect the dots Nomura's batman design! Lol jp

They could always fix this i think it's going to workout! Noctis gotta be more smooth and soft spoken though VA actor wanted to sound tough. However Gladio seems out of place.

Well, my point was just to say that they are actually still lip syncing the games =P

To me it felt like there were guys behind a camera watching the video and doing the dub.

Like, just the trailer, they had the lines, and then just recorded the voice over for the trailer.

The part where Gladio is about to hit the Garula made me feel that even more.

Wait, they lip synced for FFXIII?

Agreed, it does feel rushed tho.

Yeah, this is how it's usually done.. Rerecording the whole thing etc. is way too much work - so they just dub the trailer.

I watched this particular trailer when it first released in Japanese a few dozen times. Objectively I think the English voices are fine, but they seem strange given what I'm expecting. It'd be nice to see a new trailer without hearing the Japanese voices first; maybe they'll release new footage in English at Jump Festa?

Either way, this is really happening. Still keeping the faith that this is going to be awesome.

I like the voices but tbh I'm just happy to see all the progress we've gotten for this game. It's really coming out isn't it :)

I think so, Otherwise they could have just put the sound for the Japanese language.

I didn't play the Japanese version though, so someone will have to confirm that for you =P

I think we're totally misunderstanding each other.

But yeah, I get what you mean now. They redid the mouth animations for that game and that's what you mean by lip-syncing.

No, he's been mentioned as foreign a long, long time ago.

Those BRIXTON patches got removed from the latest Prompto design btw. But yeah, the first time I heard the British accent in the trailer, I thought it was Prompto lol.

I looked very closely at the new footage, and I wasn't able to get a good enough angle to notice the BRIXTON patch.

I'll need a newer render before I put it off.

It is so weird to hear them in English after all this time.

I'm surprised how great the voice is for Noctis. He sounds really confident.

Yup, I think the voice choices sound great and seem quite promising, and yeah can't believe we're finally hearing them in English after all these years lol. As has been said several times, this makes it finally really feel like the game's really getting closer lol.

Gladio definitely sounds like Matthew Mercer after rewatching the trailer a few times.

I still hate his gruff delivery at the start but he gets better when he doesn't yell.
