Final Fantasy XV TGS 2014 Trailer: English Voices

I don't know if it is because I'm currently playing Persona 4 Golden lately, but Prompto's voice actor sounds like Teddie

Ewwwww, Noctis's voice is so terrible with his VA trying to be Hayter and sounding like Hayter when Hayter doubs Hayter... that is, ridicolous?

Hopefully, like in many cases with FF VA, trailers sound worst than the game because are voiced on the video itself and not taken from the game recording of the final version.

DAFUQ...? Noctis sounds NOTHING like Hayter.

Hope the include the Japanese VO because I'm not real feeling the English one too much.

Then again, when will this game ever be released...LOL

What I can't handle are the names in this game. I understand that its "Latin inspired". Okay. But fucking Prompto? I mean come on.

The names are terrible, it's as if they went to a translation site and translated cool words that describe their personality.

O god, I just saw their surnames too, how stupid is this shit?

Ignis Stupeo Scientia = Fire "I am astonished" Science

Gladiolus Amicitia = Sword Friendship (lol)

Prompto Argentum = Ready Money

Noctis Lucis Caelum = Night Light Heaven

Others:

Stella Nox Fleuret = Star Night Shines

If you understand a bit of Latin like I do, or like many people speak a Romanised language, these names sound incredibly stupid.

I honestly don't mind the voices, but I'm just not feeling the dialogue, it almost sounds like a direct translation.

Anyway, since we have English VA's already I'm hoping for a worldwide simultaneous release.

This happens in real life too, you know.

Sounds fine to me. I don't have a preference but I'll probably just stick to English voices.
Perhaps I should clarify. It's 3 American dudes and 1 British dude hanging out together having grown up with each other presumably in the same region. But of course we know the real reason why we have a British dude, because:
Dude he's supposed to be smart you can't be smart without British accent.
Because stereotypes.

It may just be nostalgia speaking, but from listening to this I feel like Final Fantasy voice overs has gotten worse since the PS2 days. Both X and XII were far better to me than this and XIII.

Definitely nostalgia as far as X goes. Shit is terribad.

XII is amazing through and through. Definitely need to hear more of this cast before I make judgment. Really weird hearing them in English to me.

Yeah, I'll take the Japanese audio too. Hoping dual audio is in because I would hate to have to buy two copies so my sister could play. C'mon Asia.

IMO Prompto voice is the best one.

While everyone else is moody and boring, Prompto is like a dog who is hyper and fun loving just like his character description. He's really a breathe of fresh air, and his voice actor really went out of his way to put more energy into him to make it sound more believable, and overall realistic.

The dialogue isn't that bad though, what do you expect them to say?

But I'm very disappointed from the little I've heard from Noctis. He sounds moody and or depressed, with no energy in his voice at all. He reminds me of Lightning, but whom took on more of Cloud's emo-ish tone of voice. Noctis takes me as a quite type, but his voice is too down.

I suppose, but it's really not that bad. Could be worse really.

Prompto's voice work was surprisingly well-done though. I imagined he would be the most awkward, cheesy sounding character in the group, and he still kinda is, but also humorous at the same time. It reminds me of Krillin's voice in TFS.
Yeah, I think they got Prompto's and Ignis's right. I meant to praise Ignis's originally though lol. He's my fav character so far and making him British is perfect!

DAFUQ...? Noctis sounds NOTHING like Hayter.

I didn't say that, I said he sounds like when Hayter started exaggerating things of snake, like in MGS4, ruining the character. Forcingly making a voice that is not natural for the voice actor nor sounding natural to the listener.

To cut it short: bad acting going on here.

I generally don't like to judge an entire game's voice acting based on a 2 minute trailer. Seems fine to me. Square Enix puts a lot more into their localizations than most other companies, which people don't really seem to give them credit for. FFXIII fixed the lip sync problem, yet I've never heard anyone mention that as a strong point in the game despite years of complaints about that.

English voices will always sound weird if you've heard Japanese first. I'm sure the final product will be fine. Just like how the XIII trilogy and XII had good quality voices (I'm saying this independently of the quality of the script for certain games, of course).

I study Japanese and all, but I get really tired of people acting like listening to English dubs of these games would literally make their ears bleed. I only insist on Japanese audio if the dub is legitimately bad.

After all these years i cant play this game without jap dub.
Plz Square give us the option. I would even pay for it in form of a dlc

Will we be able to play it with japanese voices and english menu and subtitles? Cause I liked the japanese voices much more. That Noctis voice doesnt fit him well.

As expected they're all awful. I would say that I hope SE releases dual audio but we all know that isn't going to happen, unless it's for a nominal fee.

so true....... (and still,; WHY WHY WHY)

actually they expressed their interest in releasing dual audio.
Lightning Returns also got it, And Type 0 as well.

Yatta! Honestly...Im trying to contain my hype until the games finished....I remember being hyped from the FFXIII demo (Which eschewed paradigm shift for what was a much more enjoyable system to me at least). But I'm getting such a nostalgic vibe from FFXV. It feels like it belongs with the Final Fantasys of old.....Actually an accurate comparison would be FF4-FF12 are represented by the Original Star Wars Trilogy while the FFXIII games are the Prequel Trilogy.

FFXV and Episode VII need to deliver.

They sound just fine to me. In all honesty video game voiceovers be it english or japanese makes no difference to me since last gen though I admit there some exceptions.

Was the "she made it out alive?" line in the original trailer?
Edit:
Just checked it was"I trust she's well" that a pretty big change that gives a lot more context, guess some shit already went down story wise. I'm speculating but I think Luna is the new Stella.

The more literal translation would be "Is she safe?," so I think the new line fits more than "I trust she's well."

Since when Noctis turned Snake? I really don't like these voices at all. I pictured something close to Dissidia's Cloud for Noctis, not Christian Bale.. >:(

Great performances from all four guys, and their voices all fit their characters. Except for Noctis. His deep voice does not fit him at all. Maybe it's just because I've been used to hearing him in Japanese for a long time, who knows.

it's probably also a reaction to the fact that we have all come to associate the various characters with their Japanese voices.

Now that you mention it, he kinda sounds like Dissidia's Squall. Same VA maybe?

Boy that is some Nolan North voice acting right there. I love the guy but a dude in his mid-40s voicing a teenager seems like a questionable casting choice

Whoa, indeed out of nowhere :O

I don't know If I like them or not... Still feels so weird to me I mean come on after all these years of course it would.

Hmmmm... I hope that's mean we will get a worldwide release date like they promised us in one of the old interviews years ago.

Good fucking lord, is this a joke? Are we back in the early 2000's again? Why do they sound so bad?

They should have gotten Funimation to handle their dubbing or something because I swear they and Atlus are the only companies I've seen do a proper English anime dub. Unless Bebop and Champloo were by a different company.

I feel like Japanese voice come as more natural while the English ones are like someone told me what's this character like so I'll act like him. Like you know from the get go who's who and what's he like.

This means they recored the demo. No point in reaching further yet.

I see the same reactions for a lot of dub trailers, though. I honestly don't see the point in judging an entire game based on a trailer.
