I always get the super cheap ones. $8 max, and they make your room look way better.
Will need to go into a shop to search for better prices. Movie posters are 27x40, right?

"This is for real"
Awww fuck yeah it is
Saw this in the YT comments section and died laughing....LOLToday, we are cats in the apocalypse.
First one on GAF to rock a PR avatar. +90 Jaeger points for me.
Whoah. I thought Man of Steel was a major disappointment, so I don't know what your standards are. Already bought IMAX tickets anyway.
Should I watch this trailer if it shows barely anything?
Probably the most hype inducing moment for me of the trailer. Gave me a holy fuck we're about to fight a huge ass monster, feeling.

I have returned from a screening. The movie was great! Everything I wanted. Heart racing action and scale. You are put directly into a crisis situation and the characters all work well. As Del Toro says it's an adventure movie. It's not mindless action.
Anyone who is hyped for this will love it. I guarantee it. While i was hyped for Man of Steel and left a little disappointed...here not so! I only got to see it in a regular RealD 3D screen and have booked opening day IMAX. See it on the biggest screen you can.
The trailers and TV spots haven't shown ANYTHING at all. I have no idea how they kept so much hidden.
Well it certainly does look like a 13 year old is responsible for it.
Not sure if this has been posted:
Interesting Forbes article about the abuse of tracking numbers on Pacific Rim
Hidden in the middle of Varietys Is Pacific Rim Doomed to Be This Years Battleship? piece is the fact that Warner Bros. has only spent 30% of their marketing budget thus far. This is actually a wonderful thing to hear. Ive long argued at the pointlessness of these insanely expensive long-lead marketing campaigns, with copious trailers, clips, and posters designed mostly to capture the interest of hardcore film fans who already bought their midnight IMAX ticket as soon as it was available.
Warner Bros. is holding most of its marketing money for the last couple weeks, which makes sense since most general moviegoers dont really care about whats coming out months from now. Even with the social media that seemingly surrounds every single living soul, there is still a large percentage of moviegoers that still choose to see a new release because that trailer they saw in front of Man Of Steel looks good or they liked the TV spot that aired during the NBA finals the night before opening day. So when Del Toro takes to the Internet to reassure fans that the tracking numbers are going up, thats probably true since Warner Bros. hasnt exactly been spreading awareness.
With Man Of Steel taken care of following a successful domestic and overseas launch, and The Hangover 3 and The Great Gatsby wrapping up their successful theatrical runs (both films cost around $105 million and made well over $300 million worldwide), WB now has two weeks to sell the heck out of giant robots doing battle with giant monsters.
You may be referring to the aspect ratio because this is the commonality between the two that immediately springs to mind.
Both The Avengers and Pacific Rim were shot in 1.85:1. What does this mean? Refer below for a visual reference.

For the sake of comparison, Man of Steel was shot in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio. Most of the films the predate the 1950's were shot in 1.33:1. This aspect ratio also happens to be the standard framing for televisions, whereas 16:9 (1.77:1) is the aspect ratio for high definition television.
While the difference may seem minor, there's a major disparity here. It dictates the feeling you're going to convey with your framing. The composition of your frame and dynamic of your shoot will be predicated by which aspect ratio you choose to film in. Both offer unique challenges.
Director of Photography Seamus McGarvey's thoughts follow below.

Pacific Rim boasts bombastic visuals and gigantic beings that vertically scale to profound heights. Perhaps it was filmed in 1.85:1 for similar reasons.
Awesome trailer!
Also - 92 posts without a random guy doing a "this is gonna bomb hard lol" drive-by. Well done, GAF.
Good time to show my poster:

Is that true? That can't be a coincidence. Although Rinko Kikuchi's character seems to kick more ass than Rei.

You're getting it before the US does
No. i just think it looks stupid. Power Rangers and some of the Gundams did it well.
Well, Power Rangers are stupid (and liked them growing up).
OH HELL NO! Power Rangers are fucking awesome.
When Guillermo del Toros Pacific Rim hits theaters in a week or so theres one thing the director and the man who headed up his flicks visual effectsIndustrial Light & Magics John Knollcant wait for audiences to see: the battle in Hong Kong.
The spoiler-free version of what happens is this: Its a nearly 20-minute kaiju-versus-mecha brawl that, of course, takes place in Hong Kong. According to the men who spent months on the face-off between the kaiju and robots (known as Jaegers in the movie), its epic.
dammit XiaNaphryz SPOILERS there are kaijus in this?
Real Steel did a little under 300 mil, hopefully this can exceed that.
I'm sooo not buying into the hype this time around.
I just hope that this won't turn out as disappointing as Prometheus.

Looks okay, this trailer is much better than the previous ones, but I'm still unconvinced. I definitely don't get where all this hype is coming from.

Some people are happy to see a new movie that is not based on an established IP.
Some people liked Del Toro's works.
Some people just loved the fuck out of giant robots and giant monsters movies and are not afraid to say they still liked it regardless of age.
Some people are happy with the combination of the above.
I only got to see it in a regular RealD 3D screen and have booked opening day IMAX.
