Yes, I just wanted to make clear that I would accept a lot of shit to play Fire Emblem Fates, I'm aware this is optional, but it is still optional trash.
There wasn't, but this was probably because of other things:
1) People found out a bit too late that this was the case, as Nintendo likely didn't publicly announce a whole difficulty was taken out.
2) PoR hardly set the charts on fire, and people didn't care much for the series back then.

I am not equating the two things. I don't even see the crusade against violence as a bad thing (in retrospec mainly). I don't think the crusade against sexism is bad (how the fuck could I?) I think people target the wrong thing IMO but I'm not the police of that so fuck me right. But thats not an insult. and if you took it as one...then my bad.

We didn't like it when the press used those "guns in games = real shootings" generalizations, but now you see tons of people dismissing people who likes feature like this one with phrases like "ewww it's creepy".

Good job for trying to engage Ekai and also for expressing sentiment of the whole nerd on nerd hate within gaming. But the reality is, she will take offense to literally anything and twist the arguments to seem as if she's the victim. I've seen this time and time again with other folks that try to engage her. Which is funny, because she goes to the lengths of looking through people's posts to render arguments that are besides the point.
And while I don't blame her completely for her actions, as the cause she fights for is legitimate, but it doesn't make it OK to instantly label someone or attack them. It just ends up making someone not even wanting to bother engaging, because there is no reason or compromise. It's just on the absolute extreme end. And I say this as someone that does this for a living, that's not how you get folks to listen to you. You relate, not antagonize.

How can you consider an insanely trivial face-touching minigame -that- damaging, lol. It's dumb, sure, but there are very many more dumb things in the game than that, which I'm sure we'll have thread after thread about after release.
Would you like NoA to remove the story too? After all, that's hardly essential to what most people seem to enjoy out of Fire Emblem, and most importers and Japanese players seem to consider the story to be "supreme shit" indeed.
#FE is pretty harmless judging by the import OT, lol. Some folks just see idol singers, associate it with the latest AKB48 scandal, and immediately assume that the game is softcore porn.
Given how trivial the face touching feature was straight up removed, it'll be interesting to see if they try to make huge shifts in the idol aspects of #FE for that very reason.
That's just next to impossible without redoing the whole game, the only thing I could see them removing are the swimsuits at the very most.
The game is utterly Japanese, so utterly about the Japanese entertainment industry as a whole, that I have no idea how they're going to approach it in the first place.

I am not convinced this is true. Yes, Awakening was the most successful in a while, but it was also made easier and changed atmosphere from a rough one in the Radiance games to a more pleasent one in Awakening. These are also not changes that I like, but I think they probably had a greater effect than the waifu trash.
It depends on why the story is supreme shit. If it is just a bad story, well, so be it, it's not like FIre Emblem games tend to have fantastically written stories. If it is one embarassment after another that would distract most considerably from the (hopefully) great gameplay, then I would be all for cutting that down. However, preferrably they would have done so before release in Japan and just realized their story is shit. Which I do not want to claim it is, I'm just going off what you have written (and consider the absurdity that it the Soleil story, which I am grateful was cut).

My recommendation is: Give it a name not in the least reminiscent of Fire Emblem, release it as "Nintendo's Idol Softporn Game" and don't cut anything. #FE is basically everything (besides the opportunity to grind) that is wrong with recent Fire Emblem distilled down to just that.

I'm a little surprised they didn't get Atlus USA to do the translation.. I mean Atlus USA knows how to translate Atlus games, its basically what they do. It seems to be much more of an Atlus RPG than a Fire Emblem game.

With Fates, it's a little too late for that, I think. 90% of the reporting from gaming websites is in regards to Soleil and the skinship minigame.
I'd like to hope that will die down after it releases here, but...
I think that Awakening's success and (probably moreso) the big push Fire Emblem characters have gotten in Smash Bros. have changed that.
Guess there's much more softcore porn around than I thought.
I think I'm going to do that with my favorite GAF members.

I thought considering the fact that I also put "Nintendo" in the name it should have been obvious that the name thing was not an earnest recommendation. It's not a porn game, but it is completely detached from Fire Emblem and the rather obvious pandering in it (thinking of Miss Bouncy Boobs from the trailers for instance) should not be associated with Fire Emblem. Other than that I would not cut the game, because this fanservice stuff is what the game is about, so cutting down on it, is cutting down on the main content of the game.

I can understand this, but was needed to exclude the minigame? There must be other solutions, like hidding the mini game for the end game, even an extra dlc only for 18+, whatever...
