First Burnout 4 pic

So what's the excuse this time for not doing a GC version, last time it was because of onlinACcentric reasons....this time i wonder what will it be.......this is zillion times better than need for speed u 2, they should just quit this series altogether....

I think its planned for all systems this time. the funny thing about Burnout 3 is that Acclaim planned to ship it on all 3 systems til EA got their meathooks in it.

if this is what next gen games look like, i'm not buying any more consoles.

:lol :lol :lol

That is the funniest thing I have seen all week. Thank you.

Maybe I'm just spoiled by some PC games (Half Life 2 and Doom 3), but none of these next-generation shots seem impressive. Maybe it's just EA, or maybe it's my expectations, or maybe Nintendo is somewhat right in that graphics are reaching a point where it's hard to improve. Development time can't increase, so neither can the graphics quality.

Well, a majority of the 1st gen Xbox 360 stuff you will see was developed on a G5/Radeon 9800......which is good, but not amazing hardware and probably no where near the power of the Xbox 360, the final hardware of which won't even arrive until summer....

I guarentee you, 1st gen Xbox 360/Revolution/PS3 stuff will be OK, but come late 2006 (on 360) or late 2007 (on Rev/PS3) you are going to see some stuff that will just look silly....

Exactly...we've seen huge jumps from the first to second generation in the 3D era, so I don't know why people haven't figured this out yet. 2006/07 is when the bombs get dropped by these machines.

I don't think they are next gen...don't worry.

And...graphics can and will improve, it's all up to the artists now.

I think neither the godfather or the burnout 4 shots are next. Look at some AOE 3 shots for what next gen is supposed to look like.

That Godfather video with the girl dressed in red looks too good to be this-gen -

yeah the video # 6 at gamespot is definitely next-gen, probably running on a high end computer or maybe xenon dev kit

I don't understand what's so bad about that screenshot. The car looks shiny as hell and the geometry looks good from the tiny pic (could be all bitmaps so its kinda hard to tell) :P

I still hope we see some awesome looking first gen games too. I don't see why we won't, Rogue Leader and Smash Bros looked great on the GC, and DOA3 and PGR for the Xbox (possibly others, I didn't go through lists or anything).

Another "next-gen representative" pic:

I think it's the grainy look that is faking you.. Haven't taken a look at the Godfather videos, I was just referring to the shot posted here.. should probably do that.

Q2 2006 :D
It should be playable at E3 though :)

I didn't want to start a new thread, so i'm bumping this one...is Burnout 4 coming to Gamecube? In the "Next Month" section of the new EGM, under previews, they have Burnout 4 listed for PS2/XB/GC...confirmation, or lazy "multiplatform" typo(putting GC instead of XB2)?

I have that issue aswell, BO3 despite its great gameplay and graphics, it just didn't move enough units. EA more than likely made a push for it to be released on the GC. I hope they take advantage of the GC "indirect texturing unit".

My guess is they are holding back the Xbox 2 announcements untill the platform is unveiled at E3. :)

Yes, have you noticed if you go to Gamespot and others and do a search for The Godfather, it is only listed for PS2, Xbox and PC....NO mention of XBOX2 anymore, even though that was the referance platform for the game!!!

Hmmmmm.......

The Xbox360 version has never been officially announced. You are supposed to be totally awed by this surprise at E3 ;)

I just got May's Official US Playstation Magazine, and Burnout 4 is the cover story. In the issue, Alex Ward claims no next-gen development yet, and they're trying to push the Playstation 2 hardware further. The colorful graphics are gone and replaced by a more realistic style. Criterion is focusing on ways to create more crashes and destruction. They hired two real-life car designers to create the vehicles for this game. OPM was shown the Detroit location, so that's where all the pics (including the one in the first post) appear to be based. But they also say eight different locations across North America, Europe, and Asia, including Rome and Hong Kong.

I can't believe you're saying Folder's Xbox 360 claim was hot air?!?!?!?!?

.
"THE" Logic conclusion for " Official playstation Magazine" :D

Burnout4 = Xbox2 but not ps3 ( that isn't a 2005 platform ) > so " no next-gen" :D

Like I said at the beginning of this thread - it's a PS2 game, and the pic's been taken from the May issue of OP2M (UK)

Dear EA

Please don't fuck the online right up the asss.

Oh nice I just read there is a Pyschonauts demo on this OPM disc! Hope my mag is in the mailbox when I get home!

Eh, nevermind. Looks like it is only a video. :/

Only Darkwatch and FSW are playable.

How many years has OPM been providing playable demos? Two is a joke I hope there are more.

No PSP Burnout? I am tears.

I interpreted the comment literally, meaning that this game (Burnout 4) isn't coming to PSP. The PSP game is allegedly based on the Burnout 3 engine, but is not a port of that game either.

From what I've read, it doesn't say the game won't appear on PSP or next gen machines, it just says they are not developing it for anything but PS2 at the moment.

I really liked the colorful look of BO3 (and it's predecessors) but seeing the scans from the OPM2US I couldn't help but thinking about that other colorful game where the sequel sported some sort of 'generic rage'.... It's too damn dark at the moment. I hope it's just that part of the track, if not.. Well... I probably won't like it at all!

I just hope Criterion didn't get the ol' screw over from EA, like many other companies did get....
