That's an extremely valid concern, hopefully the audio lagging and frequen loadpoints get heavily minimized or eliminated (in the case of audio lags).MightyHedgehog said:Aside from the aliasing (especially on the fence/mesh), it looks surprisingly faithful to the PC version. My worry is that the game will load even more frequently, effectively killing the experience...as the PC version (at least on my PC) was a bit annoying with all of the loads at checkpoints. Hopefully, they've managed a nice way to stream map data to minimize the loads.
sorry about that, hadnt noticed it wasnt changeg in the topic viewTTP said:Damn, some mod please edit the title![]()
First pictures and information to help Life 2
09.04.05 - Here are first pictures and details to the 3D Shooter help Life 2 from the ' Official Xbox of magazines '. The Xbox version is with the PC original:
- in the comparison to the PC the lighting in the levels was revised, so that the world looks more realistic according to gift Newell of valve on the Xbox.
- due to a new Streaming technology there is load tracing in the same places as with the PC.
- the control was optimized for the Joypad, and an automatic target acquisition was added.
- the vehicle price increase is still revised at present, because it is still somewhat hakelig. Like that is it heavily steers and to shoot simultaneous.
- the help Life 2engines on the Xbox was built in such a way that other developers can licence her.
- the texture quality is weaker than with the PC, on which the team presupposed 512 MT RAM as minimum requirement.
- 480p representation at the television is possible.
- there are not multi-player modes (also via Xbox Live one).
- downloading new contents e.g. levels would be possible, is however still unconfirmed.
- the releases: Summer 2005 (the USA)

I guess that's now ruled out.

This will probably be canned just like the DC version, all they got to do is finish it :lol
HDR lighting, the sequel to Wreckless sports it and they are already working on a test map to showcase it.Mrbob said:The article says the loading point structure is going to be the same as the PC version. Anyway, I'd like to know a little more about what Newell meant with the lighting being revised to make things look more realistic. I'm calling slight BS on that one. If the have figured out a new method to do lighting there better be a patch for the PC version to update it. I don't see how the Xbox can do lighting that a PS2.0 or PS3.0 card could not.
Wreckless 2 supports it, so says the developer of the game. Here's a preview TeamXbox did in early Feburary:Mrbob said:Wreckless supports HDR lighting? Are you sure??
Kumagai was very enthusiastic about the HDR (High Dynamic Range) that will be put to good use for scene specific lighting effects. For example, HDR will illuminate the screen in a daylight-white fade-in when cars exit a dark tunnel.
I know, makes the wait for the next-gen and year-end PC games that much harder to swallow!Mrbob said:That's amazing. Xbox can pull off HDR but you need a top shelf PC to do the same?
I saw some of the HL2 HDR video, it looks great. I'm a little pissed at Valve right now if they can pull this lighting off on the lowly Xbox when they claim you need a top shelf PC to get it working!
Read the thread, pancho. It's an Xbox 1 game.Rob said:Are you sure those are not Xbox1 pics instead of Xbox 2??
Guys, not to sound like a graphics whore or anything (though I admit that I really am one), but if that is the best that Xbox 2 will be capable of coming out of the gate, then I say thanks but no thanks.
There is absolutely nothing impressive about those pics whatsoever. A LOWER polygon count than what current pc's are pushing? Aliasing issues all over the place? When a new console launches, it out muscles pc capabilities for at least a while. This dosen't even look like it keeps up with current pc technology. I mean there are NO improvements whatsoever. The entire thing looks watered down and in my opinion, that is inexcusable for a "next-gen" console running a current pc title.
I am amazed how some of you people are like "hey, not bad." Like your already accepting graphical mediocrity out of this machine. As gamers, we should demand a lot more out of a machine that it's company has the gaul to call "next-generation."
Having said all that, in truth part of me believes that these are NOT legit Xbox 2 game pics. I just refuse to believe that MS will allow Xbox 2 to launch with such obvious graphical shortcomings.
Yeah they aren't, this game has been confirmed for an Xbox release for a while now and even the thread starter admitted the title was a typo.Rob said:Are you sure those are not Xbox1 pics instead of Xbox 2??
You're kidding right? These are miniscule and blurry screenshots that hardly showcase any form of graphical power. The only thing you can rationalize is that they look close to the PC original. How close is something to be revealed later on.Meier said:Anyone who says this doesnt look "that bad" needs their eyes checked. It looks absolutely terrible.

Mrbob said:It is the original Xbox. Your rant is wasted.
Ehhh it's all subjective. When compared to the original, sure you can say it looks terrible.Meier said:Tiny screenshots dont hide shitty textures and low-polygon models. Look at the fence in that first pic and tell me again this doesnt look bad. If you can, well, more power to you -- but it does.
I'm quite positive that it would be a technical impossibility considering the hardware and our current programming know-how to pull off full blown HDR. I was kind of blindly hoping that they would use some form of HDR logarithm in some way in order to enhance the lighting since the bad Babelfish translation hinted at that. At the very least, Wreckless 2 will!Mrbob said:I want to see some videos of this game in motion. I still have a hard time fathoming the Xbox can pull off HL2 in full HDR glory.
